  • I surf in Sicily, on the Mediterranean sea, and every time I see video on Mavs I always have nightmares when I go to sleep...brrrr!!! :-/

    p.s. Massive Attack rules ;)

  • If you want to see it much bigger search mavericks! 4 December 2007. Oh and @ staphinfection, Poor Jeff Clark? He is the one who created this. Poor old school surfers who were there BEFORE him and kept it a secret.

  • @Oboqoo, I grew up a short walk from there. 2 miles out? You are either fucking high, or a kook. Maybe a quarter mile, half mile tops. A good long paddle. And Truthfully there was a handful of people who paddled out there before Jeff Clark. He was just the first one to really tame it and surf there on a regular basis. It was called "the Crease" before Maverick's became known.

  • Loose the music it sucks

  • Nice song from Album "Mezzanine" (Massive Attack)... Sounds fresh even after all these years.

  • Dude for once that advertisement was pretty cool. :)

  • How do those guys survive a fall? How do they not drown in the white wash?

  • @alexjamesdf

They're good swimmers and there are jetskis around these days to tow people out and rescue them. It's 2 miles offshore that wave. Two people, both very experienced big wave surfers from Hawaii, have died surfing there though. One in March of this year. Wikipedia - Marverick's. In the old days they used to just paddle the whole way out, the original guy to surf it would do it alone...

  • @oboqoo yea i know i live about a mile from his shop lol

  • 0:44 EPIC BACK DOOR, omg.

  • mavericks really doesnt look as big as people say

  • @Mrbikeman01 Well despite the illusion you claim of Maverick's size, when its small lip curls the drag created by the sea floor's nasty coral canyons creates the effect of trying to stop a frieght train with honey - all that power and weight comes sliding and crashing down so hard it actually registers on SF's Tsunami early warning system. Its also claimed more surfer's lives than any other Big Wave locations. Mavericks is just cold, nasty ugly water. Like SF bays murky depths.

  • Oh my gosh, I don't know how waves can be that big! They are huge! I'm used to little waves in Cornwall

  • 3:25 - Suuuuuuuuper!

  • Music (i think) is Massive attack.

  • Cameraman needs a tripod...

  • Pause at "0.27" you'd see as if the surfer is pulling the jet ski.

  • So sad about surfing. This was such a great sport, but money distroyed it. I saw a good made reportage about this on french tv. This sport is rotten now.

  • 2:25 like a boss

  • I want to swim, very much

  • Can these waves even be considered huge?

  • Great. Now i have to find MrFlyersGuy's comment...

  • thumbs up if you was watching tsunamies and thought this was one

  • where is this?

  • @NooneSuperMage Northern California near Half Moon Bay.

  • i don't understand, japan was hit by smaller waves but this had much much bigger ones and that place didnt have a tsunami. One of life's greatest mysteries.

  • @comeonfhqwhgads1 these are just fluctuations in the tide. the local area is used to this and frankly these end up as tiny breakers when they hit shore. its all about where the place is located, the earth's spin, and the pull of the moon. The tsunami on the other hand is just a raw shockwave. where these waves are the equivalent to normal freeway traffic, the tsunami was a tank barreling down the oncoming lane.

  • @comeonfhqwhgads1 It's not really a mystery. These waves have great amplitude and a small wavelength. The tsunami may have a lower amplitude, however a tsunami wavelength can often be measured in kilometers.

  • @comeonfhqwhgads1 its because tsunamis move at a much faster speed

  • damnnn look at the height of those waves

  • Chuck noris splashed in the water

  • @XIIIarrangment not the time

  • Song Massive Attack : inertia creeps

  • fuck you jev

er ,ab jetzt wird jever beukotiert !!!!

  • can't imagine taking the chances those riders do. 30' - 9/60' waves the water is 56 degrees and they are in the Red Triangle. White Sharks they bite surfers by mistake but that's like getting shot by mistake you'll still be F'd up if not dead

  • Always cool - perfect music for this vid.

  • song?

  • @JYFTUNING massive attack

  • @elcalagan thanks

  • 3:10 i wont survive

  • Hell drop at 2.20. Man should buy a lottery ticket.
