  • Nice 'n' easy! Sure do miss him.

  • Way too short of a career

  • Time has told me there will never again be a heart and soul like Nick Drake. He is a once in a lifetime talent and wrote this anthem for giving up on lost causes.Once you quit worrying about things then everything you worry about loses it's power over you.

  • allstarsofija Yeah in a way he does. Besides that, Tom Waits hasn't gotten the chart success HE deserves either

  • @TheGamecock366 Tom Waits is a legend :) Good shout there man.

  • I've read all the comments, and there's not one mention of Richard Thompson, the man responsible for the sublime electric guitar accompaniment, an absolutely perfect counterpoint to Nick's acoustic guitar and vocals. Just wouldn't have the same magic without it.

  • I've known Nick Drake after that my dad let me listen to the album "Pink Moon"... I'm 15, I'm Italian and I can say that THIS is music. Rest in Peace, Nick =)

  • Kelly Willis does a great version of this song... check it out

  • He kinda looks like Tom Waits.

  • I always listen to this when I'm feeling down.Beautiful song and great video.

  • What a song ....... damian rice delicate sounds pretty familiar in ways

  • Does anyone besides myself notice a physical resemblance between Nick Drake and Jim Morrison?

  • I just can't get my friends to appreciate this guy. So frustrating.

  • @72875821 They're just not ready yet, but be glad you are. I heard this when I was younger and only just stumbled upon it again recently, I guess I had a little living to do before the songs had some meaning.

  • @72875821 time to get new friends

  • the most gorgeous voice. i have managed to steal my mum's LP. LOVE IT.

  • Every time I feel depressed I listen to this song...

it's just so soothing and the lyrics are just perfect... I dedicate this to a certain girl..

  • You gotta check out Krystle Warrens cover

  • great songs, wish this guy was around longer. check out our music maybe you'll enjoy

  • Their is only one NICK DRAKE!

  • godlike genious

  • search nicolas and the iceni summers end. They write write beautiful English folk music which has echoes of Denny and Drake.

  • Nick saves me.

  • Absolutely love this song.

  • Now this is music

  • it's so ridicoulous that he is less know then a lot of emulators. Simply perfect song

  • Time has told me not to keep an eye on him.

  • wow what a beautiful song, the best way to end the day with a glass of wine and my lovely kids playing on the beach. absolutely amazing and cant get enough of it i just love it so much. thanks for reading my comment and happy new year. and thank you nick drake for your creative lyrics and sweet melody, just thank you.

  • When You are in the mood for Nick Drake there is nothing better.

  • @matrags

Yes, it is true love encapsulated in fear and.... Misery. :) I love Nick Drake so much I cant explain it... :)

Stay within the heart for the changes to come. :) Follow your leader, you will find him. :) Nice to meet you Matrags. :)

  • @matrags Couldn't agree more!

  • for Anna...........always remember

  • pure class

  • I love you, Nick. Thankyou.

  • Though I don't understand what would motivate a person to dislike something (so good), I appreciate the need for negativity to counterbalance positivity. I guess we can't have a world without it. That said, why the hell would you dislike this??

  • This song is from the seventies.. not the eighteen hundreds.. >.>

  • 6 incultos!!!

  • 5 people are turkey stuffers

  • toe the 5 dislikes: are you fkn retarded!!!

  • 5 people just don't understand music >:(

  • incredibly wise. He went away too soon.

  • the 2 dislikes clicks was an a hitler wish from hell

  • Not sure why people need everyone to like the music they like. Are diverse tastes really that offensive?

  • a rare rare find

  • @x15tence I accidentally discovered Nick Drake (and many, many others) through iTunes. For all those people, myself included, that don't have record stores or great music stores period, iTunes is the best way to expand one's musical horizons just by clicking around.

  • How come more people don't know this bloke even existed? Should we do something to change that or just enjoy ND as our secret genius?

  • @AntonioSaucedo22 Certainly... I personally 'found' him typing schizoid on Google, being diagnosed as such and, oh boy, ain't I enjoying his artistic output.

  • @AntonioSaucedo22

Why isn't he better known? Because the music business is corrupt, morally and artistically.

  • i love you NICK

  • Paul Simon created Bridge over troubled water from this song

  • @themindminder absolute rubbish;which planet do you live on?

  • All songwriters must wish, as I do, that they could write just ONE song with a bit of "Drakeness" in it - it's almost like he was from a different dimension

  • Excellent

  • LOVE NICK DRAKE....what a rare find this was indeed. I can listen to his music over and over and the more I listen the more I love it. it reminds me of someone I love. </3 troubled cure for a troubled mind </3

  • this is salve for a troubled mind. time has told me that time heals . the pain that you felt is what we all have felt. rest in peace Nick. God Bless You.

  • Nick Drake stopped bein obscure a few years ago now. just a shame it wasnt during his lifetime.

  • My favourite song in the world. Had heard this over the years but never knew whothe artist was until a month or 2 ago I bought 'the lakehouse' on DVD and low and behold found out the details I needed :) so theres plenty of ways to discover new music not just by visiting a music store. As it happens his track Black Eyed Dog is on 'Practical Magic' OST - another Sandra Bullock film, and one of my favourites! I love Nick's music and I love that its like a secret :)

  • Sometimes, the best muscians remain obscure, even after they're gone... aand that's a tribute...

  • 18/10/2011 Today is the first time I heard Nick Drake, I glad this happened. :)

    R.I.P a true artist.

  • @LUCKYSEVEN7100 me too. happy happy. there are still a thousand artists that have been and gone to yet discover. here is a glorious example. thank you nick drake!

  • If Nick knew just how many people love his music and love him, I'm sure it would bring a smile to his face

  • @heartsburstintofire5 Actually, he was quite a recluse and refused to play in front of people. I doubt if he would find much care in whether people listened to his music or not. His art was self-therapy.

  • @heartsburstintofire5 Do you have a source for that quote by him? I'd be interested to read the interview.

  • @michael72986

patience please,,,,,be happy this person found Nicks music and is so taken by it....love a glad heart....

  • R.I.P 1974...

  • So leave the ways that are making you be

What you really don't want to be

Leave the ways that are making you love

What you really don't want to love

  • search nicolas and the iceni summers end. they write beautiful english folk music which has echoes of denny and drake.

  • His music is so moving it takes me to some dark places.

  • my life changed when I found his music.

    "And time has told me

    Not to ask for more

    Someday our ocean

    Will find its shore."

I want these words on my tombstone

  • this guy just keep getting better and better for me. In the start he was a gem now i see that he is a reel cut diamond.

  • Zero dislikes. The way it should be. Perfect

  • @AlintaLaLoba

Not for the 2 assholes who actually disliked this song.

  • @AlintaLaLoba Thank you.

  • @AlintaLaLoba lol

  • @AlintaLaLoba Still don't get why people make such a fucking fuss over PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET disliking youtube videos. Like, who cares if some random ass person doesn't like Nick Drake? I would be totally impervious if 8,000,000 people dissed this tune and I was the only one who liked it. In fact I might like it even more.

  • @tokyohalogen it's not a fuss, is just a meme, relax, the rest of us like the song as well. :)

  • @AlintaLaLoba Summon Monster VIII: 6 trolls appear.

  • some can thank the internet for finding talent...others grew up with it, surrounded by it, having inspiring music with them at all times. I can obviously declare i am the latter, however, i am also chuffed that people have an escape from the crap that is fed to us from the money grabbers and the fame seekers, and come and listen to some real music at their listening leisure.

  • he's like the male anne briggs IMHO

  • "Troubled cure for a troubled mind" - That's how Cure came up with their name for the band...

  • hmmmmm so lovely, I'm always dreaming away when I'm listening to him

  • Man, for such a gentle soul he could play a mean guitar!

  • o dislikes that's what I'm talking about !

  • 2001, browsing in the local record shop going through the 5 for £20 cds I picked up this album having selected 4 I actually wanted. The fact that people no longer do this makes me want to cry, these accidental discoveries just won't happen via itunes :(

  • @x15tence they will on YouTube, how do you think I found Nick Drake, and Jackson C. Frank, and so many other great little known artists. I am truly thankful for the internet, with that a person can have access to so much great art.

  • @PopCultureSucks Sure but, i dunno, something about handing over money makes me really listen whereas, when it's free. it tends to fade into the background.

  • @x15tence I finally got over "that". But my problem and most others is when someone wants you to listen to something you haven't heard yet. They want you to love it as much, but same as when your mother told you to eat your veggies, you resist and hate it. Self discovery is a big part of whether you will like something or not. Another, I think is, hearing it a few times. Finally, time and place and the circumstances under which you heard or experienced it. Buying it for yourself does help. ..;>)

  • @x15tence The days of buying an album that is awful except for one song you heard on the radio are over, & thankfully so. I'm very grateful for youtube & iTunes samples. I don't buy it unless I like it now, & if I like it, I definitely buy it. The RIAA needs to see that people still pay for music; only now the music that people pay for is more likely to be what that they like. It's not like they care enough to have ever offered a "satisfaction guarantee or your money cheerfully refunded"!

  • @x15tence

But they certainly do happen via YouTube.

  • @x15tence I sympathize. I walked into a record store back in 1991 in NYC and "accidentally" overheard the "Loveless" album being played in the background (by My Bloody Valentine - a far cry from Nick Drake, for sure). I never would have bought that album (and it hardly got air play then) - and fell in love with the music (today it's considered a landmark shoegaze album). Same with Nick Drake but the discovery was completely due to YouTube and my curiosity and openness.

  • @x15tence They can happen via the internet though. I only found out about Nick Drake by looking at a wikipedia anniversary page to see who had died on that day.

  • @x15tence never been in a local record shop, and still I find the must unknown weirdest but most beautiful music all the time. I'm sure I would never find 95% of the music I listen to in a record shop. For all you know, your favourite artist might be just one click away.

  • @ridderopaard You know, I think you're right on this one. Over the last year on the Tube, I have found so much new good music just by venturing into the selections on the right, that I never would have encountered otherwise. That goes for talented amateur performances too, which would never get as far as a record shop!

  • @x15tence IDK, that's kind of how it happened for me. I was doing a Google Image search for something .. can't remember .. and ran across a promo piece for a Nick Drake concert (it was a spoof, but I can't find it now). I read about him but didn't listen to his music. Last week, I ran across him again, this time during a search for songs about abandonment and took the time to listen. I will be listening for the rest of my days. The format is different, but happy accidents still occur. :)

  • There'll never be another guitarist like this man, ever. So beautiful, both playing and Nick.

  • He seems to make everything better, when the darkness of depression hits me it's often Nick drakes sublime lyrics and melody's that pull me back up.

    If only he knew......

  • never ask for more...

  • I only discovered Nick Drake yesterday, this man and his legacy has, how can I say it, simply changed my whole mindset.

  • Pretty much the most beautiful song in existence.

  • I love Nick Drake's music. The other day I was watching a rerun of "My Name is Earl," and heard this song playing in the background. Recognized Drake's voice immediately. Too bad he didn't hang around longer.

  • Beautiful song.

  • simply fantastic

  • Too beautiful for this life!

  • No leaves left- but he still lives in his music.

  • What a beautiful man.

  • I wonder how time could have told him. He was a young person when he had written this, and also a young person when he died. I love his music, it's so relaxing, beautiful, sometimes a bit depressive, but after all, I love it. R.I.P. Nick Drake, may you reïncarnate and make more stuff for us.

  • What a goddamn tragedy man. Nick's music is incredible

  • they say the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long

  • @lawlessnick

yeah but to some one like ray mears it may be wiser to conserve the lights energy.

  • @lawlessnick beautiful. couldnt agree more

  • This is the song Robert Smith named The Cure after, from the lyric: "A troubled cure

    For a troubled mind" .

  • I am sorry you left us Nick, but i hope to see you again in the future, when things get better
