Americans, in all due respect should not be reviewing Canadian booze.. We have many more nuances in terms of sweetness. Crown Royal is like drinking rum if you are serious whisky drinker but if your are from the USA you might not get that. I like a good usa bourbon but I have never had a good usa whisky because I dont think there is one. Not laying blame, not bragging if there is one let me know.. dar_dz@hotmail.com
that shit doesn't count. i'm from canada. saying crown is the best whiskey in canada is like saying JD is the best in the US. glen breton for canada and mcarthy(?) i believe blow those shit outa the water.
im from canada and although this is a premium canadian whisky it is not the best by far. brands such as gibsons 18 yr old are far smoother and not available to dumb yanks that cant taste the diff anyway
Premium Canadian Whiskey? The problem with these is no matter how high the cost, they are still Canadian Whiskey which is basically good for mixing with soda pop.
try glenbreton, it's single malt(canada's only single malt, It's arguably the best whiskey produced outside of scotland and can be bought with some work, the site says where you can buy it.) It's the only canadian whisky worth your time and attention but if your outside of northamerica it may be had to find. I retails for 80-120 U.S. dollars a quart(750)ml. I'd reccomend it while reading because the flavours tend to develop for quite some time, you'll taste it developing for hours.
evanmega: Thanks for the information. Sounds interesting. I am always looking for some new quality. These over promoted beverages are best to avoid as they are usually average quality with a huge advertising budget. In USA there is Jack Daniels which is not even as good as the other Tennessee Whiskey, Dickel, which sells for less than a third the price.
I love crown royal. I am from Canada living in Australia. I could drink 300 bottles a year if you can get it to me. I can also sell another 13 bottles to expats. that makes 313 total... do the math x that by a life span of 37 more months of life on earth and you and I can get to know each other real well. contact me ASAP.
actually it tastes like fucking shit trust me. I just put a bunch in my mouth and sucked in a bunch of pop or water in my mouth before i tasted it to dilute it. To be honest i could chug it but it IS bad, unless youre an alcoholic

Crown is so overpriced. It's not anywhere near 12 years of age. What a joke.
There are tons of other Canadian whiskies that are much older then Crown. This guy needs to get a clue and stop pumping the Diageo horn.
I hope you Crown lovers know that Crown is about 75% Vodka. To make up for the lack of real whiskey...they add flavorings and colorings.
If you want whiskey, buy STRAIGHT not Blended. They can't legally add anything to Straight whiskey....it's 100% whiskey.

I refuse to drink something thats prodduced at those levels, the best whisky/whiskey is made in small batches and has little to no advertising.

The taste, if it can be described in one word, would have to be "Godlike".
