I don't know alot about the marimba. I have SOME idea being in drum corps/winterline playing on the drumline n all. But you know what? I don't care. This sounds great to me :) I really liked it... (around 3:00 it sounds like spiderman.. JUST SAYING...)
I think I have added about a dozen of these views to your video. I love your interpretation, I've ordered the music, I'll be attempting this myself. I hope your videos don't influence me too much, haha.
hey matt...i like you verry much how you play...you're verry good...i want to ask you what mallets you use for all tree movement of concert...i want to make this and i want to know what mallets i must buy...thanks! please reply how fast you can! good luck!
jeez you blow my mind, very fast hands, great duet! you truly make it look easy. are you still going to MTSU? what are you going to do after? I'm very curious what you do with such an amazing perforance education.
Matt, did you ever do the PASIC Marimba comp on marimba, I remember seeing you in the Timp competition, but didn't know if you did marimba. You should have anyways...you would have done well.
I never did the marimba competition. I didn't get to go to PASIC in 05 and 06, because of my schedule, then this past year I just wanted to go to enjoy it. PASIC '03 we did the small ensemble thing, and '04 i did my solo, and MTSU did our large ensemble. too busy!
Thanks! The mallets are the new Innovative Percussion She-e Wu's (WU-5) for most of the 1st movement. The section near the end of the 1st was with the new Mark Ford 814's. The 3rd movement utilized IP-400's, WU-5's, WU-3's, and the IP-814's.

I'm learning this right now. Hardest part is trying to figure out what stickings to use...

egrieg 3 years ago
On the second movement, I used a combination of IP 200's, IP 801's, and IP WU-3's. during the faster stuff I think I used IP-300's. hope that helps!
