  • hey! im using a mac and i cant even get the toolbar you have on your left hand side to come out.. let alone use the from scratch tool.. i have sketchup on my pc and i have absolutely no problems, can someone help me to tell me how to make this toolbar come out and use these tools! i need it for an end of year project, thanks :D

  • Damn! alex is a babe.

  • i cant find the sandbox or from scratch tools anywhere... I'm so frustrated. I can't figure this out

  • Can you change the radius of the smoove tool?

  • You say 'Now I can affect the radius right away', but how did you do it?

  • @Artmgjr go to View > Toolbars > Sandbox. If they still don't show, they may be hiding off the screen somewhere (typically the result of having switched from a dual monitor setup to a single monitor setup). You can fix that by going to your SketchUp Preferences Window > Workspace > Reset Workspace. Other than that, only other thing i can think of is that they might just be hiding behind some other toolbar (sometimes happens on a Mac).

  • I can't draw any kind of box or rectangle with the from-scratch-tool. how do I set the corners of the box/rectangle? I think I am missing something substantial here.

  • @vanvalldrey Not sure exactly what's happening on your end, but you may need to adjust the spacing of the grid before drawing with the fron scratch tool. If you are zoomed in, and have the grip spacing set to something like 20'(?) you wouldn't see anything happen until you stretched the from scratch tool out over an area that was at least 20' x 20'. You can edit the grid spacing via the Measurements box immediately after activating the From Scratch tool.

  • @4sketchupgo2school: hey thanks a lot! I overlooked that. Thank you!

  • SKETCH UP IS A TOY!! CHECK OUT VECTORWORKS!!

  • @dundi5246 Vectorworks is a really nice program but I still like Sketchup better jj its more user friendly :)

  • nvm solved

  • Have these been taken out of sketchup 8? Because I don't have them at all

  • @xShArPii3 they exist still check out the tools bar or maybe view-toolbars-then sandbox

  • Hi. I use sketchup pro 7. Is there a way of using the smooth tool without effecting the position of the perimeter edges of the grid? thanks.

  • @Josephhoyle not that i can think of.

  • @Josephhoyle create something like a bounding box around the edge and then make it group. play with the edges as much as you like

and then use the move tool to attach the perimeter edges of the grid to your bounding box :) hope it helped :))

  • @Josephhoyle you need artisan tools to do that - theresa tutorial on youtube on how to do it

  • dont worry figured it out. cheers :)

  • Ho do i change the radius of the smooth tool?

  • what is an auto cad file and how do u make/import one?

  • @finnesselli

autoCAD is the program architects use for drafting. you can import them to sketchup if you download a special plug-in (i guess its called). i don't know about others but i use my pwn autoCAD files that i made as an architect

  • i cant find my sandbox!somebody pls tell me!

  • to view them go to windows, then prefrences, extensions, then check sandbox. i had the same problem

  • i was able to successfully sculpted some terrain thanks to you but there is one thing still bugging me. when when ever i use the smooth tool the screen almost completly fills with random colors any solution?

  • thx for the great video.. if only autocad runs on a mac, life would be so much easier...

  • Ehm.. Is this the trial or the Google Sketchup Pro?

  • we're using SketchUp Pro - but you should be able to do everything in this vid with the free version.

  • sketchup makes the things so easy thanks fot the tut

  • what key is shortcut for smoove tool? Or i must create my own

  • the smoove tool doesn't have a default keyboard shortcut. so you'd have to set one.

  • OK... Got it...

  • Which tool do you use to make those grids?, and from where can I download it?

  • how do you do it on Sketchup 7?

  • Amazing! But, I can´t find how you control the smoove tool (the red circle, how do you get it?). Thanks

  • is sandbox tools something you have to download, or does it come with sketchup already?

  • comes with google sketchup.

  • SketchUp>Preferences>Extensions

  • where can i get the plug-ins make faces?

  • sandbox tools? just click at Window - choose 'preference'- click on 'Sandbox Tools'

  • where do i get the sanbox tools?

  • On a PC go to:

Window > Preferences > Extensions > and check the box next to sandbox

    On a MAC go to:

SketchUp > Preferences > Extensions > and check the box next to sandbox
