hey! im using a mac and i cant even get the toolbar you have on your left hand side to come out.. let alone use the from scratch tool.. i have sketchup on my pc and i have absolutely no problems, can someone help me to tell me how to make this toolbar come out and use these tools! i need it for an end of year project, thanks :D
@Artmgjr go to View > Toolbars > Sandbox. If they still don't show, they may be hiding off the screen somewhere (typically the result of having switched from a dual monitor setup to a single monitor setup). You can fix that by going to your SketchUp Preferences Window > Workspace > Reset Workspace. Other than that, only other thing i can think of is that they might just be hiding behind some other toolbar (sometimes happens on a Mac).
I can't draw any kind of box or rectangle with the from-scratch-tool. how do I set the corners of the box/rectangle? I think I am missing something substantial here.
@vanvalldrey Not sure exactly what's happening on your end, but you may need to adjust the spacing of the grid before drawing with the fron scratch tool. If you are zoomed in, and have the grip spacing set to something like 20'(?) you wouldn't see anything happen until you stretched the from scratch tool out over an area that was at least 20' x 20'. You can edit the grid spacing via the Measurements box immediately after activating the From Scratch tool.
autoCAD is the program architects use for drafting. you can import them to sketchup if you download a special plug-in (i guess its called). i don't know about others but i use my pwn autoCAD files that i made as an architect
i was able to successfully sculpted some terrain thanks to you but there is one thing still bugging me. when when ever i use the smooth tool the screen almost completly fills with random colors any solution?

Hi. I use sketchup pro 7. Is there a way of using the smooth tool without effecting the position of the perimeter edges of the grid? thanks.
Josephhoyle 1 year ago
@Josephhoyle not that i can think of.
4sketchupgo2school 1 year ago
@Josephhoyle create something like a bounding box around the edge and then make it group. play with the edges as much as you like
and then use the move tool to attach the perimeter edges of the grid to your bounding box :) hope it helped :))

@Josephhoyle you need artisan tools to do that - theresa tutorial on youtube on how to do it

theartkiks 2 years ago
the smoove tool doesn't have a default keyboard shortcut. so you'd have to set one.
