I like the idea of terraforming Mars because of the cheer romance of exploring new, uncharted lands, the engineering and architectural challenges, etc...but I don't think it is a "duty"
By all means we need to do this. It's man's sense to explore, expand, look for new land. It's what we always do. Just one thing: wherever we go, we always bring stuff back also. You'd have to be very careful what you might bring back from another planet.
make Mars habitable? why not transform the Antartic, the Sahara, the Gobi, and all those uninhabited areas in Canada, Montana, Arizona into habitable areas??
It would cost trillions to conquer Mars when we have plenty of opportunity to do so in many areas here on earth. It would cost far less and be far more rewarding.
@PutItAway101 Euh, she was meant to represent Life. being the figurehead of future explorations across the interplanetary ocean. Are you telling me that isn't obvious?
@hvolsvellir Of course it's not obvious, she could be representing anything. If she's meant to be the figurehead she should be clearly shown in the figurehead position on the prow, from this angle it looks like she's up in the rigging or tied to the mast for some reason.

Because ALL our eggs are in one basket and that's 100% risky. Check out the FAQ at atmospheres dot 5u dot com, it rocks.
