I think your definition of "talent" is a little too specific. Sure, some people may seem to be born with it, but it's still something that requires fostering. You don't just become the best at something like Melee with practice or talent alone; it requires applying yourself and pushing your limits.

Hmm that still comes from the same myth, just worded differently. The whole thing about the untapped potential of the human brain is complete nonsense, part of some overly optimistic myth that ignores the wonders of the human mind already occurring around us.

I agree Ken reached a higher level of performance before most others could, but the Nature vs Nurture issue becomes irrelevant when you realize M2K raised the bar for Melee in ways Ken never thought of. That in itself is talent.

the reason why m2k raised the bar is because of his STUDY of smash. like i said before he knows his percents, and how people will DI, and also studied things like hitbox. he improved upon what ken left behind through those studies; slowly making improvements in punishing DI and such. that is considered hard work; not talent. there is a BIG difference

yeah but theres a difference, in that you could be on the ground on pokemon stadium and prepping for a regular upward attack that otherwise wouldnt kill, and a platform (such as the windmills or the double platform wooden thing) could take you up to almost half way up top, whereas any others can. i know thats somewhat pushing the explanation a bit but i think when the commentators mentioned it in this video, thats exactly what happened.
