PS3 and the Ambilight

wow I want an ambient light tv so bad. I wish i could get a 3d hd tv with that. Then i would get some use out of my ps3! I guess my normal 42in is good enough.

my next tv will be an ambilight, got a philips now with my ps3, there the best tv's for a good price, sonys are to overpriced

The walls in my room is painted red. Do you think you will still be able to see the lights from the tv since my wall is red or does my wall have to be white for the lights to stand out? What do you think?

Also do you have put it up againts the wall for the light really show?

i am afraid but i think that anything but a white wall will ultimately have an impact on the effect. Honestly I don't think it would work as intended.

Mine I have wall mounted and I guess it gives you the best results as far as I can tell.

Do you think a Baby-blue wall will make it less good or better?

Again, it's hard to say. I light blue should not be too bad, but again, anything than white will lead to "wrong" colors. Maybe your prefered retailer would be willing to demo a Ambilight set at your place.

) and only have 2 ambilights, one on each side ,do u have it on the top of ur tv, b cause my tv only shows from the sides not above?

Yes, the 37PF9732 supports 3 sides, left, right and top.

At the time of the video shot the only way to do this was changing the current month. Now you can actually change the background color within the Design Settings. Just get the lastest firmware if you haven't done that yet.

well, there should be a button on your remote to turn it on/off and one to switch modes. Not sure though if this is the case on newer models.

Wow nice! I'd like a TV just like that. Is this the ambilight surround? I heard that there is also full surround ambilight, with light on all 4 sides of the TV.

awesome, just wondered cus i work for philips (not the tv department) but in the canteen they have tv playing with all philips products and on the ambilight advert it says ambilight requires hdmi source so... but if it works without then that is even more glorious!!! good times will be had by all!

Before firmware 1.90 the only way to do that is changing the date as the color change every month. So for the demo I just switched the month every time. 1.90 supports custom backgriunds as you might know.

It's a 1080 for about EUR 2400. But there are cheaper Ambilight's from Philips available. The PS3 is really cheap compared to the TV ;-)

No, the flickring is bascially due to my camera phone. It is rock solid when you look at it. The quality of the Ambilight is just amazing when you look at it. Also I wanna mention the fact that it can basically illuminate almost the whole wall put to maximum level.
