oi currymelawd! england used the longbow as its primary for over 200 years including about 70 years after the invention of firearms. the first of which was fired at agincourt well into the days of empire, so. whats that about all the poor defenceless countries england invaded? plus the fact that fucking ireland would only be the territory of some other dominant nation. the reality is that despite englands wrong doings it is in fact the protector of ireland. oh and i am in fact of irish descent.

Except for the fact that he himself was a "Yid," who got together with a bunch of Swedish stevadors to kick the asses of bikers (instead of blackshirts) who were hastling a gay man, this song could just as easily be about me late husband. I miss the smelly old bastard. There will never EVER be another man like him.
I hate America in general...they frown upon the Germans for their death camps and concentration camps in WWII yet they themselves did it after the attack on pearl harbor to anyone who even LOOKED Japanese...
@DwayneRydell Im an American and I dont believe half of the propaganda spread about Germany and Hitler was a genuis and excellant speaker fuck propaganda!
@DwayneRydell yeah i know we put Japanese in camps (all westcost states except HI) but there were also gremans and italians too but we didnt KILL them because we thought we were better than them LOOKED at HISTORY
@naughton101 . The fact that white America put Japanaese Americans into camps but not white German and Italian Americans is somethong America is to be proud of?
@Uncle99B no im saying AMERICA did put german americans and italian american in camps and Ireland would also put german pilots in camps but not allied pilots does that make Ireland just as bad as german. No. how many people did in intermant camps idk the number but ill bet my life it is less than 6million
@naughton101 . The USA did NOT put German and Italian Americans into concentration camps -- only Japanese Americans. 6 million people did not die in Nazi work camps...that is the total number of Jews we are told dies in WWII. Of course 60 million people died in WWII -- the other 54 million apparently are not as important as the 6 million Jews,
@Uncle99B Under the authority of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, the United States government detained and interned over 11,000 German citizens at the start of World War II. In many cases, the families of the internees were allowed to remain together at internment camps in the U.S. In other cases, families were separated. Limited due process was allowed for those arrested and detained. given not as many as the japs but still. 54 million died mostly in USSR and China from NAZI and JAPS
@naughton101 . 11,000 German citizens were detained. Not the millions of Americans of German ancestry. Meanwhile, all Americans of Japanese ancestry were thrown into camps; and I do mean all. Do you not see the difference? The "Japs". I see I have encountered yet another in a long line of racist Zionist dupes. I, and many other Americans, are sick and tired of you guys. 80 million Egyptians are trying to gain freedom and all we hear is how it will affect a few million Isralelis. Disgusting
@Uncle99B i said Japs because i was running out of room to type. and im not Jewish im an Irish American from the south side of Chicago. now i see i encounter a NAZI because of how eager you were to bring up Isralel my guess is you are most likely a piece of white trash so just stop defending the nazi and dont even try to compare the United States of America to fucking NAZI germany
@naughton101. You twice used the term "Japs" so you are an effin liar. You don't have to be Jewish to be a sucker for Zionist propagnda. Chicago is the home of the Pritzker Zionist crime family and you are obviously a racist and so are quite susceptible. If you want to pretend my calling you on twice using the racist term "Japs" or my clarifying your misleading statements on the incarceration of Americans in WWII makes me a Nazi you can do so -- but there is no logical connection.
@DwayneRydell LoL. You compare the German death camps to the internment camps on the west coast during the war? No doubt that was a wrong move but 1) not even our worst move during the war and 2) WTF, there is literally no comparison.
No one frowns upon Germany harder than Germans for the atrocities committed then but that's not really why you hate America.. it really can't be. You need to sit back, enjoy the cleanliness and have a beer. It seems you have some hangups you need to move past.
@einescheisse you're right, that's not why I hate America, I hate America because they flash their religion in everyone's faces no matter where they look..."under god" in the pledge of allegiance? WTF??? shut up about "god" that's all I'm saying...I will also admit that you're right about one more thing, I do need some more booze...
You and me both, man. You and me both. You want to see something funny, come over and tour through the south where that shit's everywhere. Kinda scarey sometimes.
@Uncle99B Yeah, no shit, see point number 1 in my post. I just found it odd that when hating on American actions during WWII, he'd pick and compare rounding up Asians (shit decision as well, not arguing that point) to the German work camps when there was so much other crazy shit done. He agreed that it was a little extreme of a comparison.
@einescheisse . The American concentration camps were not much different than the Nazi work camps in Germany. You may be confusing the work camps in Germany with the death camps in Poland. You really ought to be on surer ground before being arrogant -- or maybe you are just overly defensive.
@hanshotfirst1138 its about an irish anti-fascist who went around europe fightin for freedom, judging from the lyrics. Cúchulainn is a mythical irish hero
@ledzepp423 you fucking should be. be grateful you werent born an englishman. i'd give all the hairs on my head to be irish, your people have the best of the four greatest things in the world - music, scenery, women and booze!

@piefaceheadman -Shane's parents, from Co. Tipperary in Ireland, were visiting relatives in England when Shane was born kicking and screaming on christmas day. Three months later the family, with Shane obviously, went home to Tipp where he lived until at six years old the family moved to England. He now lives at home in Ireland. Shane is Irish. Period. It's just he chose to be born when his mother and father were travelling abroad. The family home was and is, in Tipperary.
@SuperDsweeney I wholeheartedly agree with ya, but you got to recognize the principles of jus solis and what the others are arguing, plus Shane did move to London in his teenage years. Besides, from Tipp to England is a long way ;)... ah forget that, Shane's Irish first and whatever else second
@waaeaa :75% of rapists in Ireland are Irish then! What's your fuckin' point?100% of IRA bombers are/were murderers.I'm not on about killing British soldiers, they're fair game.I'm talking about innocent civilians that have been killed,& I am not naive enough to not know that innocent Irish civilians have been killed by the British forces.Ireland for the Irish!
I like the pougues, I like Cu Chulainn ....i appreciate ireland is serious about catholisism, but i heard one to many a line about the monotheism for a song about a man who (if i'm not wrong) lived before Abraham.
And yet ....I still like it. 8)
I wonder if Cu Chulainn himself would be knees up; ale down for this little diddy?
In my opinion, the pogues were the band who helped my ancestors music to survive the 20th century (let alone the 80's!). If it's about whiskey, fighting, or history it's cool in my book. Oi!
@timothyxmcveigh Well said mate, spot on. People my age, who grew up with punk, couldn't care less about our own Irish traditional folk music. Until the Pogues. Hugely important to me, the Pogues made Irish music real to me. Shane's songs will be played in Irish homes for years to come. In fifty or so years " Fairytale.." " Sally..." " Brown eyes.." " Streams.." will be called " traditional " songs. We are priviliged to be around him. He is truly a living legend.
@benbebin don't talk period if your family isn't irish on irish/republican songs, you can kill the people but you will never kill the irish spirit, and the music !
Wow- for centuries no one has ever discover for sure where St Pat was actually born. Ifonly they'd asked you eh? I don't think antone ever claimed he was born in Ireland-what'syour point?
Paranoid? Why are you asking that?Who've you been talking to?What makes you think that?Is it you who's been following me?I didn't do it!How did you find me?
@TheMelaniehadwin:I understand Shane was born in Tunbridge Wells,Kent.U.K. He lived in Tipp & returned to England when he was 6 years old.I was born in Tralee & was brought to the U.K. 2 months before I was 2 years old,is that 2nd generation? You are correct about St.Pat's birthplace!St.George is believed to have been born in Palestine.I'm calm & happy,I hope you are too!
One of the best Pogues songs. Thanks for uploading.

25% OF RAPE SUSPECTS IN IRELAND ARE IMMIGRANTS
Files with the Director of Public Prosecutions show 25% of suspects are immigrants.
African men are 10 times more likely to be accused of Rape. East Europeans are 7 times more likely.
A disporportionate amount of Africans and East European men are accused of rape.
1 in every 10 rape allegations were made against a combination of these 2 groups.
Foreign nationals are also more likely to be prosecuted by the DPP.

Oi!
timothyxmcveigh 2 years ago 49
Though I´m not irish, I think this is a part of european culture that has to survive a few centuries more!

a Blackshirt was a member of the Italian fascist party, and the yidds are slang for Yiddish, which is a Jewish language.

He is truly a living legend.

paddyoshea55 2 years ago
I don't think you really understand the word irony. The Pogues are a London outfit,& St.Patrick was from Turkey!
weatherman68 2 years ago
it doesnt matter where they were from. just the fact that , a 400 AD priest and general non advocate of drinking, and naming a pub after this person
now do you understand? or should i elaborate furthur.plank
paddyoshea55 2 years ago
Wow- for centuries no one has ever discover for sure where St Pat was actually born. Ifonly they'd asked you eh? I don't think antone ever claimed he was born in Ireland-what'syour point?

@TheMelaniehadwin:I understand Shane was born in Tunbridge Wells,Kent.U.K. He lived in Tipp & returned to England when he was 6 years old.I was born in Tralee & was brought to the U.K. 2 months before I was 2 years old,is that 2nd generation? You are correct about St.Pat's birthplace!St.George is believed to have been born in Palestine.I'm calm & happy,I hope you are too!
