how come you start with 600 000 dollars and i only start with 95 000

@mywinsauce check your settings before entering the game. you are able to change your initial ballance and max loan (and interest) and he might have maxed out his loan ... :)

whoa, i just realized roller coaster tycoon reuses so many sprites and artwork. You can tell that rct was built of this game.

dude , if you start the game you should first beggin with cars not trains...

@TheBattlefield10 nope, trains make you a hell of allot more money. and starting with coal means you dont have to worry about goods transport, so you can make like 2 trains (or on hard one short train) to start building up some cash in a year or two so you can start making larger and larger train networks. then eventualy airports, boats can make decent money, but like cars they just arent the big profit transports.

Ok, this is piss off! I can't do any of that because the train or build railroad part of my game does not work. Do I need to unlock it or something? It doesn't work, god damn it! The sign is there (I right click it and it says "Build railroad but it's hazy and when I click it no toolbar under neat shows the options) Can anyone help me out here?

@aijunk2 What year are you playing? If you start a game too early like 1900, no trains will be available. Try starting a new game around 1950 and see if the button works then.

@cfinch820 Correct. Chris Sawyer used the engine for openttd to build upon while making rollercoaster tycoon. One of his games is based of the engine of rollercoaster tycoon called "Locomotion".

just a few questions though, what type of lights do you use with that track combination and why do you drag the signals along the track?

@TDMKnifepoint Hi there. The signals along the track allows to 2 trains go in same direction one near the other. Use the 2 lights signals only entering or exit to Stations. Then use one light in the direction you want the trains to go.

If your track has not lights along it, a train will not use it until the other train reach a station. With lights along all the rail you have 2 red lights and the nextone green, alowing a train to go near the other.

This is Open Transport Tycoon, which can run windowed and supports lots of different resolutions (1680x1050 here np).

What signals are you using? and dont you use pathfinders for trains so that they dont get lost?

also do you always service one factory or power plant and not the rest?

You do realise there's another power station right next to that coal mine. I mean they were so close you'd be able to service it just with trucks.
