  • so these glasses work much like the old red and cyan glasses only these glasses are more advanced and you can see in higher quality?

  • Similar in a sense. The video is split as you can see on the screen in the video, there's left eye video and right eye video. When played in the compatible player, the videos are mixed, every other frame is a left, and then a right, and then a left again. The glasses are powered by a USB rechargeable battery, each eye blacks out 60 times a second so that only the left eye sees the left image, and the right eye sees the right image. It's fast enough that there is no flicker, it's very natural.

  • The red/cyan (anaglyph) video had left and right images on the screen at the same time and the glasses seperated each image for each eye via the different colors to give the depth. Color Code (what was used for the Super Bowl/Chuck) is similar, but a little better where quality is concerned. Active Shutter Glasses however are untouchable right now in terms of quality. Best results are obtained from depth going inside the monitor, rather then coming out at you.

  • Actually, with stereoscopy in general, having parts of the image come out of the screen is cool too.

  • The huge improvement is that both lenses of the glasses are clear -- so you can see the stereoscopic 3D image in full color.

  • The Bad thing I hated most about this glass is the reflective surface. Even at total darkness the reflection come from the screen shine on your eyes got reflected back onto the glass. I'm still looking for a perfect active glass that have anti reflective surface like on some Samsung LCD display.
