Old Mahmudiyah. The Factory is still there. Although, when I was there from 08-09 we pushed theouter walls in further, making it even smaller. 1-63AR Scout/Sniper Plt. 1ID.
@EchoSixMike OMG I ruptured 2 disks in my back making sandbags for the chicken factory! HAHAA. I heard it burnt down right after us Marines left. (2005)
@plamperelli85 You are not alone Brother. I have a good life stateside. Good woman, job, good life. But I miss the Triangle Of Death. I miss my family.
like the normal american citizen again. watching this video remindes me of it all. from getting on that plane at fort cambell to kuwait than iraq. not knowing what to expect. didnt take long for reality to settle in though lol. im almost afraid for the war to end. cause once it does i know i will never be able to go back. its been a few years now and this all still eats me up. im starting to realize i will never be able to let this war go. i guess the qoute "only the dead have seen the end of..
Can someone please explain why i want to go back there (iraq). i hated it when i was there. and miss it now. dont get me wrong i dont miss some of it (u other vets know what i mean). but there is just something about it that makes me want to go back. i mean i guess we all do thats why we sit by our computers watching these videos remebering our days over there. you think you got yourself all squared away back into the general public. but idk maybe im just kidding myself. maybe ill never be....
plamperelli85 I'm one of the GA Nat'l Guard Medics that put this video together. All I can say is that I think most of us feel the same way you do. Something makes me want to go back regardless of the horrors. You said it best. "War is real" I guess we just miss being close to something that opened our eyes to reality of both our comrade's dedication and our enemies. It's not often I come here to remember. But like you, I want to remember.
if there ever was an Iraqi video that could make me squeeze out a good cry this would be it. I have been drinkin though. God bless the Georgia National Guard, you guys did what you could. We inherited a hell on Earth from you. Im glad to hear that Americans could make it inhabitable for other humans.
RGH1502 I'm one of the GA Nat'l Guard Medics that put this video together. I'm glad you like the video. My intention was to bring home a snapshot of reality. It's not often I come here to remember. But like you, I want to remember. God bless you guys that took over our temporary home.
I served there. Mahmuhdiyah, Lutifiyah, Yusifiyah. in 2004/2005. Truly some of the best and worst days of my life. We didnt have tanks, we didnt have sufficient armor, and hot chow was a daydream. That place, the "triangle of death", is the asshole of the world. I'd give anything to go back there, not as a Marine, but as an exterminator. i would gladly take 1,000 lives for each of the men that i lost. Sixteen brave men, all swallowed by that God Forsaken Place.
Yeah, I couldn't put the real stuff in this video, people wouldn't understand. But you do. Same to you bud. Thankfully, things are a lot better there.
