  • Dude man I am a American and I live in Mexico at the momment but I have to agree with cenk on this. Even though she was 8 when she got here, she still has to ably by the rules. My mom is a American citizen, she was brought here when she was 2, but she still had to go through the process of getting her citizenship. This story about her age and intelligence can help her with the citizenship or residence, but that does not mean she can skip it and completely ignore it. It's sad but rules are rules.

  • @poster her parents should have thought about her education before they came here ILLEGALLY... and so what she's smart there's a shit ton of smarter citizens who could & would use that money, why should we put citizens aside for someone who is ILLEGALLY here in the country... its like wiping your ass before you shit... it just dont make sense

  • USA need to stop illegals from getting SSI, FOOD stamps, free education, housing, medicaid, employment.

Take care of our own FIRST.Build the damn fence

  • you just morron, learn and do what it takes if I have the chance i brigth her to canada maybe have more chances life in my country that U.S

  • There are laws in this country. Illegal immigrants seek to get around the laws and play the system. They degrade the social and financial infrastructure.

Do you think if we allowed millions of illegal immigrants to come to our country it would be a "better" place to live?

Do you believe the economy would be a "better" place? Do you think it would be a safer country?

Are you an American citizen and say "yes", you're retarded. Go kill yourself.

  • I'm not with her or against her. she deserves everything but again the point is she is an illegal immigrant. she had no control of coming here at the age of 8 but she can still apply for citizenship.

  • The scholarship should go to the best scholar. Her legality is beyond her control and for anyone to say otherwise is a fool. I'd rather see her in college than a legal citizen who has performed worse in school.

  • @MarcoNard19 It's funny how everyone assumes that if anyone other than an illegal alien is taking a spot in college they're going to be some kind of moron. Colleges don't accept people with crap GPAs and test scores. It's competetive as hell. Which means if it comes down to the illegal vs. the US citizen, the citizen wins. Their parents contribute and deserve to see their hard work benefit their children. These kids can blame their parent for the crappy situation they're in.

  • @JSmith345543 I don't believe that a child should be punished for parental failures. Competitive as hell? Well if it's a competition than the best student should win, regardless of her citizenship. And on a character level, I can guarantee these illegal parents had to struggle and work just as hard if not harder to get by.

  • @MarcoNard19 Yes, the best legal student should win. You dismiss the legal student's efforts by putting an illegal alien ahead of them. Did their parents pay taxes to keep the school system afloat? No. Your proposal is grounded entirely in sentiment, with no regard for right or wrong.

  • @JSmith345543 My proposal is grounded in a respect for the education of humanity. The young adult who worked the hardest deserves to get an education, regardless of events outside of their control. How can you punish this girl based off circumstance? She has done nothing wrong, all she has done is work hard and try her best to educate herself. why would you punish her for that? So her parents didn't pay taxes? When you were 8 were you making sure your parents paid their taxes?

  • @MarcoNard19 Again, sad faces and sob stories have absolutely no weight here. You don't run a country with the lives of millions of people on the line and say, "well, even though it's bad for the economy and a total slap in the face to legal citizens and legal immigrants, we'll let you skate because we feel sorry for you. This model kid you're describing is also one of thousands of legal American kids who gets turned away from our schools every year-they deserve to go to school more than her.

  • @MarcoNard19 I'd suggest you ask those questions to the students whose parents came here the right way. I have several kids from immigrant families in my classes (I teach in south Texas), and we've discussed issues like this on a couple of occasions. At least in my classes, the students disagree with you.

What you're saying is essentially, "All you had to go through to be a legal resident of this country doesn't mean anything. You should have spent your time on something else."

  • @MarcoNard19 My parents, who migrated here legally and "paid" their taxes did so so I can have a better life, an opportunity to go to school....NOT to pave the road for some illegals to come to this country and step ahead of me or take my place for an education.

It sad, but it's life. DEAL WITH IT.

  • She and her family entered the US illegally. She obtained a social security card, a driver's license, and other documents through fraud. She lied to get into college. Every scholarship given to an illegal alien is one that is not given to an American student. She should be arrested.

  • Your logic is very immature and based on an asumption that you "KNOW" what is right and wrong. Sorry but being 8 y/o at the time does not make anyone imune to the law. If I, an adult, do not pay taxes or my mortgage I and my 4 y/o, the smart kid, will be both kicked out into the streets. You are very inexperienced and are quick to decide what is right from wrong with OTHER PEOPLES MONEY. I am also Latino and the law is clear. Sorry but if the laws were followed the story would be different.

  • my parents robbed banks and gave me 500k a year therefore i should get 500k every year because of your logic.

  • Wrong. Illegal aliens do not have a right to financial aid. Your compassion does not make you right. There is no fairness argument to be made. Illegal aliens are not entitled to take up space or resources in this country. Illegal aliens should be deported.

  • Ultimately she needs to be a legal citizen before she receives financial aid. Her immigration status should be considered higher in priority since she has been here so long and done so well, but the government can't start handing out money to people who are here illegally. Once she receives legal status, then give her the resources so that she may proceed.

  • Not smart enough to get citizenship, she is entitled to human rights, not our civil rights. She is illegal, I dont care where someone is from, illegal is illegal!

  • I hate when people complain about illegal immigrants, who are smarter than them, asking for aid . if you didnt got scholarships or any other type of aid.

    1) you didnt really needed any help

    2) you are a dumbass

    3) your grades are really low (almost the same as point #2)

there must be a reason you didnt get it...so stop complaining about intelligent illegal immigrants trying to get aid into a CC. oh and dont even mention the tax reason because there are illegals who pay taxes too .

  • @latinopianist01 grades determine intelligence?

  • @MrNicMachiavelli no, grades dont determine intelligence, but i think you get my point...

  • @latinopianist01 fair enough. Some people do make that illogical conclusion. The most reasonable way to proceed with this is legalize her first and -- given how long she has been here and her record as a productive and hard working person it seems reasonable to prioritize her immigration status quickly--, and then give her financial aid.

Not giving her a chance would be cruel but at the same time there has to be a legal process followed that hands out aid to legal immigrants.

  • @latinopianist01 It doesn't matter how intelligent they are. They can't ask for aid because they're not citizens. She also lied to get a social security card, a driver's license and other documents. Any American who did that would be arrested. She also lied to get into college and to get a scholarship. Is this someone to admire?!?

  • @latinopianist01 Why do people like making the BS claim that illegals pay taxes? No social security number means no taxes. No ITIN means no taxes. Buying a pack of Wrigley's does not amount to sales taxes worth a college education. Get your facts straight.

  • Then her parents should pay for her education. They got her into this mess. She was over here since she was 8 they had 10 years to get citizenship and make sure that she could have a chance at the American dream. I think its a shame that she is so bright and could be a big help to society, but it is what it is.

  • Your an idiot, if we didn't stick to the law and let everyone into our countries then we would end up like mexico.... the law is there for a reason douche. wether she was 8 or 45..

  • @xKillco fuck you. SHE WAS 8 YOU RETARD. VIVA MEXICO PENDEJO

  • @jaslene816 Yeah, she was 8 and her parents were grown ups that didn't give a shit about the law. So if anyone is to blame, it's them. Thanks for the non-argument, though.

  • @JSmith345543 right the law of the country who stole their land in the first place.

  • Deport all illegals. As far as her 4.0 grade average. On a class curve, if shes in in a school full of savages, illegal aliens and acnchor babies, of course shell do good. A 6 year old Asian can get a 4.0 in such a school.

  • wow you are mexican and you are siding with mexicans.. surprise

    thanks mexicrap

  • @waldo1324 thanks for saying the obvious nigger

  • @waldo1324 Please don't be a racist bastard.

  • Well, if you strongly believe that then you should look into the federal financial aid requirements and let’s start making the requirement different so everyone should be included regardless their legal status till that day happens then we are all tied to the same requirements. I do agree that she should get financial aid so she will be a good citizen in the future when she becomes legal but the law is the law . My advice to the girl if she is so smart is "tried to became legal"

  • I'm American and i can't even get aid into community college, and this girl is trying for Berkley? Ok so give her the aid, eight years later with her doctors degree- she won't even be able to get a job because companies e-verify

  • Are you for real?? You are completely missing the point! What is right is that it is the LAW!!! HELLOOOOO! What is wrong is that she is not a legal American! There are reasons for these laws! It is not a race issue! OK she is smart...that is great. But that does not matter because we have rules but I guess you don't respect the laws of the USA?

  • Comment removed

  • NO she does NOT !! Her parents should have become Legal Citizens! It is the law! She can get private funding. Sorry we all had to follow the rules and so does everyone else! Do you think that my grandparents had a merry situation where they came from! ? NO It was bad ...why do you think they came here!? they worked hard ... paid their taxes and were Legal because they followed the law! Get over yourself. This is just getting TOO out of hand. She needs to get a green card!

  • it's not about her being smart; it's the fact that she doesn't have legal status in the country. So she can't get any state or federal loans. The president of mexico said this was wrong but he's not putting up any money to send a citizen from his country to college.

  • @blue9star Past Mexican Presidents have put a lot of money in Mexican student's pockets to attend Harvard, Stanford and Yale.

  • FYI a 4.0 isn't hard to get...GPAs in high school are so inflated.....Put in 10% of effort in and woop di dooo you have a 3.8 or better.

  • Illegal...nuff said

  • As an illegal she has no right to get a loan or to even be in this country. The loan should go to an American.

  • The point is, it's her parent's responsibility. Can we stop trying to male this a a race issue, please? This is NOT A RACE ISSUE. If you know right and wrong, then you should understand this is her parent's problem, and her parent's mistake; regardless of the sob story. "Because she's smart" doesn't entitle her to federal aid, which comes from my tax dollars. If this is the best place for her and her family, I'd think they would be willing to go through the proper, legal channels.

  • @MusikMajor Perfect wording!
