The pilgrams had nothing to do with the first thanksgiving. There was about 3 before this. The Hatteras tribe gave the English their first thanksgiving in the 1500's.
Actually it was on Dec. 4th 1619 in what is today Charles City, VA at Berkeley Settlement (Now Berkeley Plantation) The Berkeley Company sent a ship over with settlers to start the settlement with a charter on the ship from the king that stated that they should immediately pray to the lord in thanksgiving for a safe journey when they landed.
