I think the most hilarious of all is 'Skeet' in his truck thinking he could make it in his truck past all the other trucks and SUVs and he didn't even have it in 4 wd. Has anyone ever heard of chains? They are a magical tool you put around tires and tighten to get really good grip on ice and snow! They cost under $100 and prevent accidents! Also, why do people keep their brakes on? You need to feather and pump them, not slam them to keep your tires locked so you get no traction at all.

It's amazing how many people don't know how to drive in slippery situations. The major problem here is the drivers that lose control are either going too fast or they lock up their tires. You don't lock your wheels when your sliding, let off the brakes other wise you won't have any control at all.

@ChildOL Did you watch the video? The people sliding down the hill were NOT going too fast. They were going rather slow. They just couldn't get traction. And once you start sliding, there's nothing you can do to stop it.  BTW, you need to learn the difference between your and you're as in you are.

As for " there's nothing you can do to stop it" it is not true, ask any professional driver about locking wheels when sliding, you lose any control that you may have. Also if you did not notice other cars were able to navigate the road so there was SOME traction as long as you don't lock your wheels and keep close to your current momentum and inertia.

SOOOO....people dont just normally keep chains on hand, this is a very rare situation when we get snow like this, much as people who DONT live in Colorado like to think we live in the Arctic CIrcle or something.
