  • so what will the 8s future be like??

  • R.I.P#8

  • why isnt she in he shops

  • @TheDeputation Because there are no shops in Gold Hill.

Long story short, the V&T returned the locomotive to the supposed reps of Feather River Short Line. They have it parked here in Gold Hill. Since they made up a bunch of crap at a public meeting and claimed the V&T returned the locomotive in bad shape, they can hardly go back to the V&T now. It was part of a legal settlement. Now these characters are trying to simply get the Feather River Shortline to be legal in Nevada.

  • @virginiatruckee what about V&ts shops and so will she run on V&t at all soon

  • Beautiful shots!

  • anyone know about sp 0-6-0 #30

  • @orangetrain66 The SP 1251 or V&T #30 is still in pieces and currently is awaiting "time" to be put back together. The shop crew is currently tied up with doing heavy repairs to V&T 18 and restoring passenger coaches.

  • is it operational or will it run with #29 and #18 on V&T

  • @orangetrain66 Yes it's operational, it was delivered in running condition by the Virginia & Truckee Railroad a while back and has been steamed up during the summer by the Gold Hill Historical Society. They haven't run it on the main track, though. Doubt it will run with #29 or #18 soon, it might be used to run the Carson "River" short runs next season but nothing has been discussed officially.

  • @virginiatruckee oh cool id love to see it does anyone know about sp #30 a 0-6-0 that V&T owns

  • @orangetrain66 You know I don't have a good answer for you I will find out.

  • @virginiatruckee okay thanks

  • The shortest shortline in the world at the Gold Hill Historical Society!

  • @DouglasSteam40 Sorry I missed this til now, yes, perhaps this is the worlds shortest shortline!

  • Is the Feather River Shortline a real operating railroad? I know there is an organization of some sort, but is there a museum or a railroad to symbolize it? I guess if there was, the 8 would be there right now.

  • @SierraRailway Sorry I missed this til now, yes, you've got it, there is no FRSL museum. This used to run in Portola, according to the history it was never supposed to leave Plumas County but it wound up in VC after a dispute between Boynton and the Portola folks. I probably note elsewhere this was the subject of an interesting court case back in the 1960's.

  • Cool! I remember seeing that loco in operation in an old train video I used to watch years ago. I hope she steams up in the near future.

  • I haven't heard anything officially, but I know that John Tyson is in charge of this locomotive and is trying to get the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the Virginia and Truckee Railway to let him run on the new tracks. Right now the private Virginia and Truckee Railroad has been operating the special runs on the new track.

Tyson has a good shot, he's the newscaster who did the story I show a clip of, and he's one of the Commissioners. I hear he wants to run short excursions with #8

  • Awesome! I hope Tyson can get her running soon. Best of luck to him.

I bet you're thinking of the video "Great American train rides" volume 1. I love those videos. Thats how I know of the #8 too.

  • @SierraRailway Yeah! That's the one!

  • Beautiful images. Cheers. 5*

  • @PhilbruProduction A bit late in answering, thank you very much!

  • Interesting
