@nopcnolife1 there isn't an exact alternative, but depending on what you want to do, Cinelerra might be able to do it. It can do motion tracking, masking, chromakey, etc. It's just a bit difficult to get started with.

There used to be a project called jahshaka, which was renamed to CineFX, that was supposed to be an After Effects alternative, but I can't find a download for it.

@ryancouture Lots and lots of developers. Linus Torvalds still makes the major decisions, but there are tons of contributors (paid and unpaid) around the world.
