PLEASE CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. MY EXERCISES WOULD HAVE TO BE MODIFIED A LITTLE BUT IT MIGHT GIVE YOU SOME IDEAS. THANKS!
Thank you for this. I am trying to get pregnant, and was told I shouldn't do abs or most exercises. I've put a lot of weight between the Christmas season and leaving sports. I am scared of doing some exercises because I think I got pregnant and lost it (I had all the pregnancy symptoms for a week and later I suffered an extremely weird menstruation, I really think I miscarried). So I'm looking for safe exercises for pregnant women. Can you do this the whole nine months? Even first three months?
@EscuchaYcalla Of course you can, there is absolutely no proof of aerobic and toning exercises having anything to do with miscarriage and it's actually proven to produce a healthier pregnancy and baby for you to be fit. Im 36 weeks and am still light jogging and weight lifting, just don't listen to your body for cues.
@takenwithlove06 Absolutely - safe and effective. I am a doctor of chiropractic and an aerobics instructor / personal trainer. Everything I produce for you is based on education and research. Hope you enjoy.
@DoctorCathy- hi i just found ur videos and i think they are great iam in my 7 month right now and i had a question on when i should stop working out or should i just work out all the way through my 9 months and stop when ever i cant handle it anymore?
@DoctorCathy - Thanks so much for your amazing videos, I'm now nearing week 31, pregnant with twins and still doing my best to follow them thought it is hard to follow your pace on the warm up now! you are an inspiration, thank you!
Weight gain 18 pounds so far (started at 110), babies are ahead even on singleton pregnancy basis in terms of growth (3 pounds each at 28 weeks) so definetely your suggested exercises combined with a healthy diet have a tremendous effect!

This is better than any video I bought! I´m in my 34th week, have been doing Your excercises almost daily for three months and feel great!
I´ve less back pain, less pain from my sacroiliacal joints and have actually gained muscle mass! I now look very pregnant but also very fit!! Safe excercises without risking vena cava syndrome, falling on your face due to imbalance or hurting yourself due to too heavy strain on untrained muscles. Keep it up Dr Cathy! Post some more!
hi doctor .. this is my first pregnancy and i used to exercise everyday before i got pregnant .. but my doctor told me to stop .. at least for the first 12 weeks .. even stop walking! ... and im feeling devastated .. i just cant hold my self .. so is it safe to do these exercises before i complete my first trimester ? + another Q .. what is the minimum weight i should at least gain during pregnancy for a healthy baby? is it true it has to be 9 KG .. at least?
Not sure why anyone would suggest you stop taking care of yourself during the crucial 1st trimester, unless there is a specific health concern. It's important to maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout your entire pregnancy; the 1st trimester is most important because that's when the majority of baby's development occurs. 3rd trimester is mainly a growth period for the baby and finalization of processes and connections, but early pregnancy is when brain, spine and body systems are formed.
@SimpelA Also, weight gain recommendations are 25-35 pounds for most women...however, a very healthy pregnancy with an active mom probably won't see that much weight gained.
@dstojke You can do pelvic rocks on all fours and neck range of motion. Check out my web site for a video specific for these exercises., it's Educated Pregnancy. com
hi! thanks for the useful video. i d like to ask, is it ok if i perform these exercises using elastic bands in stead of weights? (except for the lunges of course).
@th1441Atgirl Yes, you can also do these exercises without weights and just contract your muscles and use your body's own resistance. Lunges can also be done without weights; for many people, their own body weight gives them enough of a workout as their belly grows.
@LaNenaSmiley Yes, begin with some easy exercises and progress at a rate that's comfortable for you. You could try the following videos I've posted: warm up, cardio abs, lower body workout, yoga and relaxing full body stretch. You may want to try one video per day for the first 2 weeks and see how you feel before increasing your workout. Of course, you can add a walk into your schedule every day as well.
Also, I usually do squats and lunges using a squat machine with 40 pounds added. I was thinking that it would be okay to use a lighter amount of weight, maybe just 20 pounds instead of 40, cutting the weight in half. Any thoughts are appreciated! :)
@candaceh8 You'll know when it's time to alter your workouts...your body will tell you. But for now, stay active and don't be scared by the people telling you all of the things you can't do...they probably think you are sick, not pregnant.
@candaceh8 light weight and high reps will give you far better results and you wont get tore up joints like mine (im 26 and everything pops and aches im all arthritisy used to lift a lot high weight for football) calisthenics is the only healthy way to work out in my opinion do not push it with weights they do more harm then good and definately dont ignore warning signs if it hurts back off, lifting a 5lb dumbell 1000 times will give you much more benefit then a 100lb dumbell 20 times
@verdemanthe1 Most importantly, you need to always use good form while exercising to minimize any strain or damage to your joints. Using too light of a weight with bad form is almost as bad as using too heavy of a weight with bad form. Weight training done properly is extremely effective at increasing lean muscle mass, raising metabolism, maintaining a healthy weight and keeping your bones strong.
Hi! Love the video! Quick question. I have always been a very active person, exercising roughly 4 days a week at the gym, and I love lower body workouts for my calves, thighs, and butt. I was very concerned when my doctor told me that I should not do any lower body exercises because it may stretch the lower abdominal area, which can cause problems. I am 9 weeks pregnant now, first pregnancy, and I really want to stay in shape. Do you feel that lower body workouts (squats/lunges) are okay to do?
@candaceh8 Really not sure why your doctor would say such a thing, especially if you've been working out prior to getting pregnant. It is essential to train the hips, thighs and legs to stay strong for a natural delivery.
Hiya, im 13 weeks pregnant. I feel fine doing the warm up and exercises but I was wondering will this help me to NOT put on too much weight on. With my first pregnancy I started at 70kilos and I went up to 86kilos!!!! I didnt get a chance to lose the weight as I am pregnant again, and I am now 81kilos. I am so worried about putting on so much weight again.
If I eat properly and not over do it.. plus do these exercises a day will I be able to curb the weight gain?
@antetchie This video would be good every other day an dthen choose some of my other videos to do on the alternate days. I'll post a video of my routine suggestions.
Hello doctor, thanks for the videos, this is what I was looking for... well, now i'm in my 24th wks, I just recovered from my placenta problem, just started to walk for one hour almost everyday, I'm still afraid to do some exercises, you think I could do some stretching and warming besides walking?? thank you in advance for you advise..
by the way my doctor said that I can do the normal usual life, but slowly, I feel too lazy due my long stay in the bed plus i lost a lot of weight and mussels.

@vivoviva As long as your midwife says you can resume normal activity and you are already walking, a low intensity warm up followed by some stretching should be fine to add to your walking routine. Be sure to modify as needed and stop if you feel any pain. Most women should be able to continue their exercise routines throughout their entire pregnancy with only minor modifications, but you will have to be the judge of that yourself due to your history.
thank you doctor, appreciate it, I will start doing gymnastic inside the swimming pool by the coming days, thanks again for your advise, is really helpful.
These videos are just wonderful! Thank you SO much for doing this, you have really done a great service to [pregnant ]women everywhere! I'm just starting to not feel quite so nauseus, so would like to begin some exercises..just in the early stages. Can you let me know about what sort of heart rate we should keep? I'm 32, 5'8 & not overweight...
@Sienna10Sunz Congratulations. I get this question a lot. There is no correct number for everyone, although many doctors will say not to go over 140 BPM. There are so many variables to that; every body is different. You should be able to talk without getting winded and watch your temperature - too hot is not good for baby.
Dr i had gest dieabetes and pre term pain in 8th month in my prev preg 6 yr bk...i have bin a regualr runner swimmer and gymer since last 3 years and has taken weight training too.this preg until 18th week i was swimming and walking but now my gynae asked me to stop swimming.im in my 23rd week nd trying to keep metabolism high with walks and upper body weight training.i m bit scared about doing back n butts like this video as it might lead to pre term pains again.do u think i shd do them?

@sd2009sd It sounds like you are much healthier and wiser with this pregnancy. I'm pretty sure all of your hard work will make a big difference during the remainder of your pregnancy as well as during your labor. Every body is different, but I continued this workout, as well as step aerobics and many other routines up until 42 1/2 weeks when I delivered my first baby. Modify as you need to and stop if you feel that you should. Listen to your body.
Doctor Cathy, my pregnancy is considered moderately high risk because of a history of miscarriage and because I experienced some spotting after a day of walking. I never felt tired, and it wasn't an intense workout, just strolling, but I was walking pretty much constantly throughout the day. My doc told me that I can't get away with much, and I need to "take it easy." She didn't really clarify what constitutes "easy" and what is "hard." Can I do the arm workouts at least? What shouldn't I do?
@beingpregoissurreal I'm sorry to hear about your previous loss. Let's plan on a happy ending this time around. Without knowing all of your history and current health status, it's difficult for me to say what constitues "take it easy".A healthier mom always produces a healthier baby; for you that may mean a modified exercise plan including a stationary recumbent bike, yoga, strecthing and light weights. Clean up your diet, be sure to eat mostly whole grains, fresh fruits, veggies and lean meats
Minimum 20 minutes every day, preferably 30 or more minutes some days. You can take it easier some days and exercise longer and with more intensity other days. Heart rate is based on age, health and level of fitness. Doctors used to say to keep heart rate below 140, but that is not true for everyone. They now say watching body temperature is more important than watching heart rate. Each person is different, so speak with your midwife Find out what your resting heart rate is, too.
hello doctorcathy, I am 6 weeks pregnant and having a lot of back pain can you suggest me which video of yours can be useful for this problem. I am in big pain ... cannot sleep at all Tx
@hi2shrads First, I suggest you go see your Chiropractor to determine what is causing your pain. Most likely a few visits should help you start feeling better. You may want to try the warm-up, the cardio abs, yoga and full body stretch videos. Each of these will help.
Doctor Cathy, i`m 21 weeks pregnant and i`ve been doing exercises following your videos for 5 weeks now but my belly is pretty big now and i cannot do the ` advanced core`exercises for example any more, as my belly looks like an egg when i do them. Do you happen to have any other videos to post???
@haiduculc I will post more soon. If your belly takes on an egg shape or comes to a point, then it's definitely time to discontinue ab exercises performed while lying on your back. You may, of course, continue with your Keigels and pulling in on the abdominal wall.
@babr13 All of the exercises in this video are safe for someone in good condition to follow throughout their entire pregnancy. Of course, check with your midwife before beginning any new exercise program, especially if you are experiencing any difficulties with your pregnancy.
I did a workout for my lower body and the next day my legs where sore pretty badly, so I rubbed them and soaked them and even tried to workout again...then the next day my legs hurt to even rub something against them...how can I prevent this. I warm up and strech afterwards.
@cedganaway Time and repetition. It's called Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and it will continue to happen until your body has adapted to exercising. Even people who exercise regularly can feel this if they do a different or more challenging routine.
Depends on you - I suggest starting with 3-5 pounds if you haven't been exercising and progressing to 7 or 8 pounds within about 6 weeks and perhaps to 10 pounds within about 3-4 months. But everybody is different and you should use a weight that works best for you...one that is not too easy, but not so difficult that you struggle on every repetition.
Dr. cathy do you have any advise on how to lower slightly elevated blood pressure? I am now at 20weeks, following your videos and have been learning about nutrician what else can I do?
Trish, have you seen your chiropractor yet during your pregnancy? Patients often see very dramatic results with blood pressure - many news channels have even done stories on all of the research proving that chiropractic is extremely effective at stabilizing blood pressure. In addition, limiting your stress levels, exercising regularly, lowering your fat intake and increasing your fiber intake all help play a role in blood pressure management as well.
Sure - you can use your couch or ottoman if you have one. Try propping some of the cushions from your couch up against the couch to give you a stable incline to rest against.
Hello. I'm just wondering, would pump a few times a week be sufficient in keeping weight gain down during pregnancy? I'm 23 weeks atm and do pump 4 times a week, and 4 hours of cardio. Is this too much? Too little? I ask about pump because I notice the moves you do here are the same.
I'm guessing pump is the name of a weight training class at your gym...should be okay...sounds like you are working out about 8 hours a week which I'm sure has been your routine for quite some time. Keep it up - your body will tell you if and when it's time to mix things up, but for now, it's early enough in your pregnancy that you shouldn't need too many modifications. Of course, check with your midwife periodically to be sure you and baby are both pregressing perfectly.
Hi, i am 32 weeks pregnant..i have got high blood sugar (174). would these exercises help me to get rid of my problem and can i lift 3 Kgs dumbles for exercises?
As long as you can feel your muscles working, 6 - 7 pound weights (3 Kgs) should be fine. If it becomes too easy, increase the weights or complete this entire video one more time. As for your blood sugar, nothing is more effective at regulating blood sugar than 1 - proper nutrition and 2 - exercise. Be sure to check with your midwife regularly to be sure you are not harming your baby.
Hi Dr. Cathy, I'm 8 weeks now and I've had high white blood count in two tests (done within 15days) and both have come back high. No signs of infection or low iron at all... any ideas? Also I'm just wondering which exercises you suggest or are safe to do until it goes to normal or does it not matter? Thank you!
check woth your midwife, but exercise at a light intensity should not cause any problem, and could actually help your body to regulate your white blood cell count. Also, seeing a Chiropractor during this very crucial time of development is absolutely essential to keep your nervous system functioning properly to help your body and the baby.
dr cathy, u make me feel like such a lazy ass. you're very inspiring. one 5 min video of ur arm exercises almost got me out of breath. i really hate being out of shape.
I have a video that shows some oblique work. Obliques are the muscles on the sides of your stomach. It is not always advisable to exercise your abs during pregnancy because you can cause a tear in the abdominal muscles. Focus instead on your Kiegel exercises and standing upright while pulling your belly in during the early part of your pregnancy. You may begin working your abs again 6 weeks after your baby is born.
Doctor Cathy, you really are my hero. I have PCOS and really work hard to keep my weight under control. I conceived easily enough but was worried that I will have to stop exercises. But you have really helped me personally. Now almost 13 weeks, I follow your exercises religiously and I didnt have to stop. Can you please post some video on ab exercises during pregnancy? Thanks a ton.
What a total inspiration you are, thank you for taking the time to post these wonderful videos!! I love your statements about pregnancy being a normal part of life and not a "condition."
It's my pleasure. If more women would realize that, indeed, pregnancy is a normal phase of life, we would have thousands more natural births and thousands less drugged up babies. You have 40 weeks to build your baby with all the best love and health you have to offer. For your baby's sake and for yours, take good care of yourself right now!
I am about 30 weeks pregnant and I just love your videos one thing i have noticed though is you have no stretch marks did you use some sort of cream or are you one of the lucky ones who just didnt get stretch marks
I have always consumed enormous amounts of water...at least 10 glasses a day, and 12 glasses a day or more while pregnant. I've always used coca butter. While pregnant, I applied coca butter to my stomach, back, and hips at least twice daily. But don't worry if you do end up with a few stretch marks - they'll most likely fade in time. Have a healthy pregnancy!
You are welcome! It's crazy that so many people are taught that being pregnant is a condition...like a disease or something. It's a normal stage of life and you must rise to the challenges your body is facing. Stay healthy for the baby and for you. Less medical intervention now equals a healthier birth and a healthier life for your baby.
Thanks a lot. I just went through 25 weeks of pregnancy thinking that I couldn't do anything! I want to exercise, but obviously won't do something that can cause harm to the baby or myself. I already walk everyday and your exercises really do help. Thanks a lot! :]
I'm sorry to hear the news.Without examining you, I cannot say for sure what you are able to do, so I suggest you ask your OB if you are cleared to walk and do yoga everyday for exercise. While it is important to exercise and maintain a healthy weight gain, there are a few rare situations where pregnant women should limit their activity. This is NOT the norm - remember, pregnancy is NOT a disease - it is a normal stage for the human body to experience.Stay as healthy as possible for you and baby.
hi dr cathy, i just went to my obsetrician appointment and he told me that the way i was working out was very dangerous since i split some muscles in my stomach, i havent been doing any crunches or sit-ups but i do alot of leg workouts i am wondering what i am doing wrong. since my muscles are split can i still do these exercises, im only 24 weeks and i gained 50 lbs since being pregnant so im trying to slim down but keep me and the baby healthy at the same time.
Hello... I was wondering... I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my fourth child. My children's ages are 3,2 and 1. I've had 3 c sections. Are these exercises safe to do considering my circumstances?
Congratulations! 4th baby on the way. Wow! Having had 3 C-sections does not prevent you from exercising. You should be able to safely perform all of the exercises I've demonstrated in the videos, but feel free to modify if you need to. If you're planning a VBAC, you'll want to exercise throughout your entire pregnancy. Be sure to comsult with your midwife and keep her aware of your workouts. Try to eat nutritious foods, which may take some effort having toddlers!
Congratulations! I understand your concerns; after all, medical doctors act like pregnancy is a fragile condition. It's a normal stage of life, and you should continue doing most of the things you had been doing previously. These videos were designed for the average person to follow along. Without knowing your situation, I can't say for a fact that you can do these exercises; but if you are healthy and are not a high risk pregnancy, you should be able to exercise every day. Best of luck to you!
I hope i get a big butt like yours :D !

@doctorcathy Yeah, I had her already but next time I have a baby, I'm going to continue exercising (exactly what my trainer told me to do).

I'm five moths pregnant, it's ok to start exercising ?
LaNenaSmiley 1 year ago
@LaNenaSmiley Yes, begin with some easy exercises and progress at a rate that's comfortable for you. You could try the following videos I've posted: warm up, cardio abs, lower body workout, yoga and relaxing full body stretch. You may want to try one video per day for the first 2 weeks and see how you feel before increasing your workout. Of course, you can add a walk into your schedule every day as well.

how far gone are you in this video?

@Longbellytv I think I was about 39 weeks and I went to 42 1/2 weeks. Yes, I worked out right up till the end.

Also, I usually do squats and lunges using a squat machine with 40 pounds added. I was thinking that it would be okay to use a lighter amount of weight, maybe just 20 pounds instead of 40, cutting the weight in half. Any thoughts are appreciated! :)
candaceh8 1 year ago
@candaceh8 You'll know when it's time to alter your workouts...your body will tell you. But for now, stay active and don't be scared by the people telling you all of the things you can't do...they probably think you are sick, not pregnant.
doctorcathy 1 year ago
@candaceh8 light weight and high reps will give you far better results and you wont get tore up joints like mine (im 26 and everything pops and aches im all arthritisy used to lift a lot high weight for football) calisthenics is the only healthy way to work out in my opinion do not push it with weights they do more harm then good and definately dont ignore warning signs if it hurts back off, lifting a 5lb dumbell 1000 times will give you much more benefit then a 100lb dumbell 20 times
verdemanthe1 1 year ago
@verdemanthe1 Most importantly, you need to always use good form while exercising to minimize any strain or damage to your joints. Using too light of a weight with bad form is almost as bad as using too heavy of a weight with bad form. Weight training done properly is extremely effective at increasing lean muscle mass, raising metabolism, maintaining a healthy weight and keeping your bones strong.

@doctorcathy right!I love you!

Do you feel that lower body workouts (squats/lunges) are okay to do?
candaceh8 1 year ago

Hello doctor, thanks for the videos, this is what I was looking for... well, now i'm in my 24th wks, I just recovered from my placenta problem, just started to walk for one hour almost everyday, I'm still afraid to do some exercises, you think I could do some stretching and warming besides walking?? thank you in advance for you advise..
by the way my doctor said that I can do the normal usual life, but slowly, I feel too lazy due my long stay in the bed plus i lost a lot of weight and mussels.

vivoviva 1 year ago
@vivoviva As long as your midwife says you can resume normal activity and you are already walking, a low intensity warm up followed by some stretching should be fine to add to your walking routine. Be sure to modify as needed and stop if you feel any pain. Most women should be able to continue their exercise routines throughout their entire pregnancy with only minor modifications, but you will have to be the judge of that yourself due to your history.

@Sienna10Sunz Great - let me know how you are progressing.
doctorcathy 1 year ago
@Sienna10Sunz Congratulations. I get this question a lot. There is no correct number for everyone, although many doctors will say not to go over 140 BPM. There are so many variables to that; every body is different. You should be able to talk without getting winded and watch your temperature - too hot is not good for baby.

Listen to your body.
doctorcathy 1 year ago
Doctor Cathy, my pregnancy is considered moderately high risk because of a history of miscarriage and because I experienced some spotting after a day of walking. I never felt tired, and it wasn't an intense workout, just strolling, but I was walking pretty much constantly throughout the day. My doc told me that I can't get away with much, and I need to "take it easy." She didn't really clarify what constitutes "easy" and what is "hard." Can I do the arm workouts at least? What shouldn't I do?
beingpregoissurreal 1 year ago
@beingpregoissurreal I'm sorry to hear about your previous loss. Let's plan on a happy ending this time around. Without knowing all of your history and current health status, it's difficult for me to say what constitues "take it easy".A healthier mom always produces a healthier baby; for you that may mean a modified exercise plan including a stationary recumbent bike, yoga, strecthing and light weights. Clean up your diet, be sure to eat mostly whole grains, fresh fruits, veggies and lean meats

How long should we work out? and what should we look for on our heart rate monitors?
nar4evr 1 year ago
Minimum 20 minutes every day, preferably 30 or more minutes some days. You can take it easier some days and exercise longer and with more intensity other days. Heart rate is based on age, health and level of fitness. Doctors used to say to keep heart rate below 140, but that is not true for everyone. They now say watching body temperature is more important than watching heart rate. Each person is different, so speak with your midwife Find out what your resting heart rate is, too.

hello doctorcathy, I am 6 weeks pregnant and having a lot of back pain can you suggest me which video of yours can be useful for this problem. I am in big pain ... cannot sleep at all Tx
hi2shrads 1 year ago
@hi2shrads First, I suggest you go see your Chiropractor to determine what is causing your pain. Most likely a few visits should help you start feeling better. You may want to try the warm-up, the cardio abs, yoga and full body stretch videos. Each of these will help.

Doctor Cathy, i`m 21 weeks pregnant and i`ve been doing exercises following your videos for 5 weeks now but my belly is pretty big now and i cannot do the ` advanced core`exercises for example any more, as my belly looks like an egg when i do them. Do you happen to have any other videos to post???
Thank you very much
haiduculc 1 year ago
@haiduculc I will post more soon. If your belly takes on an egg shape or comes to a point, then it's definitely time to discontinue ab exercises performed while lying on your back. You may, of course, continue with your Keigels and pulling in on the abdominal wall.
doctorcathy 1 year ago
can i do all these exercises at 26 week pregnancy
babr13 1 year ago
@babr13 All of the exercises in this video are safe for someone in good condition to follow throughout their entire pregnancy. Of course, check with your midwife before beginning any new exercise program, especially if you are experiencing any difficulties with your pregnancy.

I did a workout for my lower body and the next day my legs where sore pretty badly, so I rubbed them and soaked them and even tried to workout again...then the next day my legs hurt to even rub something against them...how can I prevent this. I warm up and strech afterwards.
cedganaway 1 year ago
@cedganaway Time and repetition. It's called Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and it will continue to happen until your body has adapted to exercising. Even people who exercise regularly can feel this if they do a different or more challenging routine.

Hi my name is Dani and I'm 7 weeks pregnant, I was just wondering how much weight should the weights be?
msdaniilee 2 years ago
Depends on you - I suggest starting with 3-5 pounds if you haven't been exercising and progressing to 7 or 8 pounds within about 6 weeks and perhaps to 10 pounds within about 3-4 months. But everybody is different and you should use a weight that works best for you...one that is not too easy, but not so difficult that you struggle on every repetition.

Dr. cathy do you have any advise on how to lower slightly elevated blood pressure? I am now at 20weeks, following your videos and have been learning about nutrician what else can I do?
Trish
meand2kidsand1 2 years ago
Trish, have you seen your chiropractor yet during your pregnancy? Patients often see very dramatic results with blood pressure - many news channels have even done stories on all of the research proving that chiropractic is extremely effective at stabilizing blood pressure. In addition, limiting your stress levels, exercising regularly, lowering your fat intake and increasing your fiber intake all help play a role in blood pressure management as well.

is there an alternative to these excercises i can do that dont require a ball? i dont have one at home and right now i cant really get one.
gabbytheaquarious 2 years ago
Sure - you can use your couch or ottoman if you have one. Try propping some of the cushions from your couch up against the couch to give you a stable incline to rest against.

Hello. I'm just wondering, would pump a few times a week be sufficient in keeping weight gain down during pregnancy? I'm 23 weeks atm and do pump 4 times a week, and 4 hours of cardio. Is this too much? Too little? I ask about pump because I notice the moves you do here are the same.
Thankyou for any feedback
custardthighs 2 years ago
I'm guessing pump is the name of a weight training class at your gym...should be okay...sounds like you are working out about 8 hours a week which I'm sure has been your routine for quite some time. Keep it up - your body will tell you if and when it's time to mix things up, but for now, it's early enough in your pregnancy that you shouldn't need too many modifications. Of course, check with your midwife periodically to be sure you and baby are both pregressing perfectly.

Hi, i am 32 weeks pregnant..i have got high blood sugar (174). would these exercises help me to get rid of my problem and can i lift 3 Kgs dumbles for exercises?
reenakrishna81 2 years ago

Thank you!
roxxn7 2 years ago
check woth your midwife, but exercise at a light intensity should not cause any problem, and could actually help your body to regulate your white blood cell count. Also, seeing a Chiropractor during this very crucial time of development is absolutely essential to keep your nervous system functioning properly to help your body and the baby.
doctorcathy 2 years ago
As long as you are trying, that's all that matters sometimes! Take care of yourself.

dr cathy, u make me feel like such a lazy ass. you're very inspiring. one 5 min video of ur arm exercises almost got me out of breath. i really hate being out of shape.
bijauna09 2 years ago
I have a video that shows some oblique work. Obliques are the muscles on the sides of your stomach. It is not always advisable to exercise your abs during pregnancy because you can cause a tear in the abdominal muscles. Focus instead on your Kiegel exercises and standing upright while pulling your belly in during the early part of your pregnancy. You may begin working your abs again 6 weeks after your baby is born.
doctorcathy 2 years ago
Doctor Cathy, you really are my hero. I have PCOS and really work hard to keep my weight under control. I conceived easily enough but was worried that I will have to stop exercises. But you have really helped me personally. Now almost 13 weeks, I follow your exercises religiously and I didnt have to stop. Can you please post some video on ab exercises during pregnancy? Thanks a ton.

What a total inspiration you are, thank you for taking the time to post these wonderful videos!! I love your statements about pregnancy being a normal part of life and not a "condition."
ronnismiles 2 years ago
It's my pleasure. If more women would realize that, indeed, pregnancy is a normal phase of life, we would have thousands more natural births and thousands less drugged up babies. You have 40 weeks to build your baby with all the best love and health you have to offer. For your baby's sake and for yours, take good care of yourself right now!
doctorcathy 2 years ago
I am about 30 weeks pregnant and I just love your videos one thing i have noticed though is you have no stretch marks did you use some sort of cream or are you one of the lucky ones who just didnt get stretch marks
mgerty08 2 years ago
I have always consumed enormous amounts of water...at least 10 glasses a day, and 12 glasses a day or more while pregnant. I've always used coca butter. While pregnant, I applied coca butter to my stomach, back, and hips at least twice daily. But don't worry if you do end up with a few stretch marks - they'll most likely fade in time. Have a healthy pregnancy!
doctorcathy 2 years ago
You are welcome! It's crazy that so many people are taught that being pregnant is a condition...like a disease or something. It's a normal stage of life and you must rise to the challenges your body is facing. Stay healthy for the baby and for you. Less medical intervention now equals a healthier birth and a healthier life for your baby.
doctorcathy 2 years ago
Thanks a lot. I just went through 25 weeks of pregnancy thinking that I couldn't do anything! I want to exercise, but obviously won't do something that can cause harm to the baby or myself. I already walk everyday and your exercises really do help. Thanks a lot! :]
P.S. You got yourself a subscriber!
waterhands20 2 years ago
I'm sorry to hear the news.Without examining you, I cannot say for sure what you are able to do, so I suggest you ask your OB if you are cleared to walk and do yoga everyday for exercise. While it is important to exercise and maintain a healthy weight gain, there are a few rare situations where pregnant women should limit their activity. This is NOT the norm - remember, pregnancy is NOT a disease - it is a normal stage for the human body to experience.Stay as healthy as possible for you and baby.

Hello... I was wondering... I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my fourth child. My children's ages are 3,2 and 1. I've had 3 c sections. Are these exercises safe to do considering my circumstances?
monie4thefam 3 years ago
LaTicia,
Congratulations! Try to eat nutritious foods, which may take some effort having toddlers!
doctorcathy 3 years ago
Hi Doctor Cathy, I wonder if I can do the same exercise now that I'm 6 weeks pregnant? I'm pregnant for the first time so forgive me for my paranoia.
andrewsarahlee 3 years ago
Congratulations! I understand your concerns; after all, medical doctors act like pregnancy is a fragile condition. It's a normal stage of life, and you should continue doing most of the things you had been doing previously. These videos were designed for the average person to follow along. Without knowing your situation, I can't say for a fact that you can do these exercises; but if you are healthy and are not a high risk pregnancy, you should be able to exercise every day. Best of luck to you!
