Zarathustra was a system originally created for humans to transcend the mortal realm and to the realm of God in ancient times. That was indeed Jesus in that scene.
@DGneoseeker1 No, chaos is the entity that possesses the Power of God, or the Anima. The Anima Vessels are parts of him Mary sealed and only chaos can speak the Words of God, Lemegeton. In Xenosaga Jesus is a mortal who spread God's Teachings and Yeshua(chaos) is the one who makes miracles in his place. It's also worth noting it's technically chaos power that drives the universe to destruction. KOSMOS, as the possessor of the power of Animus is chaos opposite.

...Oh... This has got to be the most amazing sequence from the london philharmonic I have ever heard in my life. by the way, I play Xenosaga, it has to be my favorite of all time actually, but back to my point, when did ths play in the game I don't remamber it.
This was from the scene during the end of the KOS-MOS dive, where Nephilim was giving the party cryptic messages about how "a single ripple" could change the future.
ok, I've sence noticed , i just play that level again and heard it, but what does it have to do with Zarathustra? They don't even mention the name until half way through the third game aside from it actualy being in the title of the third game...
Well, the term Zarathustra is more than just an object in Xenosaga canon. Zarathustra was an ancient Iranian prophet (and I mean ANCIENT, some say 11th century BC)
Over the over the past 3,000 years his mere name has become a reference to many philosophical concepts, such as creation, existence, free will and cosmic struggle, all of which are major themes in Xenosaga.
@Xelpherpolis Just as if you want to look it up. Gnostic(Gnosis) Christianity exists as well. There are so many more references to history and religion than most people realize. Nephilim is an obvious one, though portrayed much differently than in the Bible. Though it doesn't stick to Christianity either. Many names from Norse mythology appear too. Such as the names of the Vector made ships in Episode 1.
This is a magnificent piece. There's clearly an influence of russian opera here, especially near the end where the music becomes more forceful. Most enjoyable!
magnificent!

The baroque organ intro was clearly inspired by the exquisite works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Wait a minute, so is it possible that in Xenosaga 3... *spoilers below*
In the scene where chaos and Mary were standing in front of the man preaching is it possible that the man was Zarathustra and not Jesus?

@dasidhd Though Wilhelm modified it to fulfill Nietzsche's idea of eternal reccurence; to reset the universe to the begining.
