G class has only changed a little bit during its 25 years in production, that means you get a heavily outdated interior, chassis etc. Its a very strong car for the army or if you drive 80% of the time offroad. But considering most people drive 95% of the time in urban traffic or on highways, the Q7 (or a bmw x5, porsche cayenne, mercedes ML) is a much better choice because they offer way more comfort and better steering (ajustable air suspension, distronic etc).
