  • Letterman at the end :: "hmmm hmm" now that's some good shit

  • real, raw and from the heart, that is some proper country music right there

  • i remember when we would request "southside of heaven" on KCUB when i was at tarleton. we watched him play at bostoks one night and then he went to the tavern house off lillian. we knew we would see him do bigger and better things. Congrats to Ryan!

  • Ryan doesn't consider himself country, he's more southern rock/blues

  • another great texas musician

  • ryan graduated from stephenville high school in STEPHENVILLE TX AND HE SAID HES NOT FROM TEXAS LMAO!!!!

  • A country fan I am & it's good to hear a pure country song; no rock, progressive undertones :-)

  • This isn't country music, it's perfection.

  • This guy is awesome. He actually has talent.

  • I LOOOOOVE This song! Ryan your husky voice melts me!!

btw, I didn't like much country music, now YOU made the difference!

    Thank you :)

  • HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE?????........well mr letterman i was actually in the movie thanks for asking though.......

  • this song is country sort of like how Bob Dylan is country??

it's everything any song should be, it's just damn good

  • this song isn't country, it's everything any song should be, it's just damn good

  • I am hear to confess my sins. I was once thought Rascal Flatts was good country music. Lord, please forgive me and thank you Jesus for Sirius/XM and Outlaw Country!

  • @bradk79 I get so upset with people when they say oh you like country and turn on rascal flats.......I just dont know how to tell them its not real country music

  • !!!This is real country!!! Kenny Chesney Sux

  • This is great....refreshing!!! Now can we get rid of TV shows such as American Idol and focus on real talent!! ;-)

  • this dude spells country. i should know. im from the farmland up in northern germany. - but stop him singing dylan. cheerio and thumbs up for bingham. /watch?v=6DKN4aViZ6w

  • This song is amazing. Jeff Bridges does great in this movie as well

  • @sosy1325 you are quite possibly the smartest man on youtube. Thats the best comment I've heard thus far

  • njoyed this great movie in webmovietube

  • hubba hubba...I wonder if his grandfather is available :-/

  • cowboy hat porn. D.I.E.

  • lol two bucks to get into a movie? letterman is such a retard. Good song tho :-)

  • it would have been priceless if bingham would've given him a throat chop.

  • Reading through the comments I don't see any mention of Stephen Bruton thta wrote several songs from Crazy Heart. Both the music and cd are a memorial to Stephen who passed away 5-9-2009

  • whats the name of the song?

  • @mlucifer7 nvm it's called "The Weary Kind" found out on imdb.com

  • Comment removed

  • HELL YEAH BINGHAM <3 can't wait to go to your next show near NC.

  • I'm not a country fan at all...but this song is just too damn raw and good to ignore. I fell in love with it

  • @Conkonovae this may not be country, get a clue...

  • @Conkonovae the hat doesn't make it country.

  • It hit me in the stomach.

  • It hit me in the stomach. A rare thing for me to exoerience.

  • Why don't both of you assholes shut the hell up and take it somewhere else?

  • As a fellow New Mexican and texas country/red dirt fan, I really appreciate that bingham gave credit to New Mexico as his home state. Not much country tallent comes out of here, and the ones that do always credit a west texas town like lubbock. Thanks Bingham keep it up!

  • @nathaneav Damn straight my man!!!!

  • DAVID LETTERMAN IS A COCK SUCKER

  • @tonyo2323 you are a cock sucker, chump

  • @bikerider1231 Hey Dick Head, i read your comments. Telling people you did serious time? So i guess YOU'RE the real cock sucker. What was it like being pounded by niggers???? Eat that black dick BITCH!!

  • @tonyo2323 i thought i was having an argument with a bratty kid. thats what you sound like. do your parents know you are on the internet? naughty boy, now go take a time out in your room.

  • One dirty basterd out of 75 K disliked this. What an ass. Ryan rocks.

  • hes from New Mexico dumb fucks

  • that guitar sounds amazing....

  • hands down the best of texas country! your my boy bingham

  • Powerfull movie

  • springsteen in the morning befor a cup of tea

  • Def since copperhead road

  • Great song.

  • One of the last true country singers to come out in years, also carries the essence of a cowboy.

  • @xcstacy2 There's Drive-By-Truckers, Sons of Bill, Jamey Johnson, Hayes Carl, Randy Rogers, Jason Boland.... not to knock this guy but there is a lot of good country artist that peopl haven't heard of because they haven't wrote songs for a movie or the radio (w/ the exception of Jamey Johnson) but check some of those guys out. Especially if you like REAL country evolved fom the originals Hank, Waylon, Willie, Billy Joe.....

  • @tristinch07 thanks for your comment, i've never heard of Drive by truckers and just checked them out, excellent- where the devil don't stay. thanks again!

  • @tristinch07 Also Justin Townes Earle (Steve's son), Lucero, Jason Isbell (of DBT).

  • this dudes voice is awesome

  • i'm so in love w/ him

  • i am not into country music but just like david letterman said this movie kicks ass and so does the music only beautifull songs if u have not seen this movie u should.

  • This guy is a rock star. True cowboy music.

  • Now that I've listened to this song at least 500 times, I've noticed he plays the guitar faster while singing live, pretty understandable though because it's still pretty hard to sing with that passion and play that particular guitar pattern flawlessly, even if you've played a guitar for fuck knows how long. this doesn't happen in the album version though, so I recommend people buying the album :).

  • One of those rare songs that gives you goosebumps - fantastic. A perfect mirror for whats happening on screen in Crazy Heart. Love the song, love the movie.

  • Maritime music is country music but with better beats and less gay beards.....and...less egos....yes.....less egos......... And better fists....to knock the silly out of gay country singers.

  • What I dig about that song is the guys voice and also the whole arrangement of it. This is one of those gritty country songs that you say to yourself "I'm not a country fan, but this song is going in my i-touch" I love it.

    -Winter

  • @freedomland11 When you say gritty. Do you mean WWE gritty? And when you say arrangement, do you mean you will try to stuff your sweaty balls into your buddies well lubed vagina as you both critique this song?

Just goofin' on ya...I like this song too. I like how they stole it from my Christmas stocking.

  • Reminds me a bit of Ryan Adams, he also used to perform alot at the letterman show. Both of them are brilliant I must say.

  • Ryan Bingham did a great job!!! Real Texas music and R.I.P Stephen Bruton who also had alot to do with this soundtrack!!

  • beautiful song..perfect

  • perfect! no matter how many times I hear this song (and I listen to it A LOT) it feels like my heart actually hurts when I listen to it.....Ryan Bingham so completely and absolutely deserved his oscar for this but also he deserved it for being out on that long road and doing what he does and has done for a long long time before most of us had even heard of him....thank goodness for artists like him!

  • perfect! no matter how many times I hear this song (and I listen to it A LOT) it feels like my heart actually hurts when I listen to it.....Ryan Bingham so completely and absolutely deserved his oscar for this but also he deserved it for being out on that long road and doing what he does and has done for a long long time before most of us had even heard of him....thank goodness for artists like him!

  • He's so great! There's nothing better than a singer/songwriter, performing their own songs with their own style, own originality. They write about their lives. It's REAL! This is what REAL music is. Nashville, TEXAS DOESN'T NEED YOU!

  • Somehow, i'm not hearing what so many others are hearing. To me, this sounds generic at best. And why does he sound like he ALWAYS HAS A COLD?

Alas, i can only look or listen from an artist's standpoint which makes it difficult to be objective. Plenty of good amateurs can write a song this good (and better) within the space of an hour. It amazes me how easily impressed the majority of Americans seem to be. I guess that's a good thing.

  • Don't think of the cup being half empty. Think of it being half full.

Would you rather have this "generic" music or Lady Gaga? Things can always be worse.

But I will agree with one thing. We are easily impressed. Look who is running the country.....lol

  • @sweetorganic Easily impressed? Plenty of amateurs can write a song this good?

Trust me, Ryan is famous outside usa as well. So i guess the rest of the world are "easily impressed" as well?

Next thing...sure you can find amateurs writing songs like this, but can they sing and/or perform as well? Imho Ryan Bingham is about originality. He's not one of those faggot fakeproduced pop-up artists that's coming and going all the time. He writes his own songs to start with, how about Lady Gaga etc.?

  • @sweetorganic "Generic" music would be what is played on the radio. You obviously don't know what your talking about. This guy writes music that sounds like nothing ever written. Americans are easily impressed with nashville country. This is an artist that sounds like none other. I guess if your the kind of "artist" you say you are, then keep on writing those kenny chesney songs that have no meaning and no soul. Write a song like this with an identity all your own and then criticize his music.

  • @westongreen10 boom roasted sweetorganic.

  • im from west texas... and hobbs, nm might as well be part of west texas... same kinda scenery and music. anyway bingham and the dead horses are the shit.

  • @burningbuddhist LMAO!!!! Not even Hobbs wants to claim to be part of TX. ;) Beautiful country thought. East NM/West TX

  • @FXMAN66 why not man everyone know that TX is waayyy cooler.!!! .... lol just kidding. yal can gamble over in NM. lol

  • great artist been listening to him for the past 4 years. The song is in the company as his "Big Sky" Deserves it all

  • Hey y'all. What's shakin'?

  • awesome voice! i am cry, everytime i hear this! 5/5

  • this song is awesome to the third degree.

  • good song but bingham doesn't really derserve an oscar. c'mon....

btw, JohnDoe959 is one miserable bastard. i feel sorry for you dude. such cynicsm can only come from a wasted life. but it's not too late. you can turn things around. it's never too late.

  • Did you hear the song and listen to the movie? The lyrics, tonality, his coarse voice.. everything from the song illustrates the movie perfectly.

  • I agree with the second part of the first sentence.

Hard. Rough. Coarse. Haggard. Wild. Poetic. Bingham.

  • hey doe.... fuck u.

  • great performance i just hate how he goes off tune when he sings

  • oscar!!!!! i love it!

  • The song sounds better with a backup band, like on the trailer for the movie.

  • Yeah, because Bingham sucks and all these idiots like the background music and not the moron up front.

  • you are a fuckin idiot..go listen to your fuckin rap...this kid will be a legend....every singer sounds better with a band or pre-recorded..hes like a bob dylan but better....rockon RYAN BINGHAM

  • Yeah...rap. Name ten Bob Dylan songs that aren't Like A Rolling Stone, Along Along The Watchtower, Don't Think Twice (It's Alright), Blowin' In The Wind, Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35. All of which, by the way, are better than anything Bingham has ever done or ever will do. I just mentioned those because they are probably the ones that a casual Dylan fan would know. Seriously, if you can name ten without searching or looking at an album, I will be impressed.

  • com on man, he's just a kid. and if you havent notised, bob dylan aint maken no more hits anymore. so why not have another great artiest fill dylan's shoes?

  • ufferndiawl i agree with u aundred percent....!!!!

  • thanks - it just had to win - AND IT DID !!!!

  • Comment removed

  • the best song ever that been up for the Oscars, if this doesn't win then the Americans can't see class when it knocks them in the face

  • Jesus. Name five songs that have been up for an Oscar without searching for them. How about "Things Have Changed"

  • @ufferndiawl I have farted under walnut shells and saved them to wake up my college roomates that have sounded better than this song. I am American...and Americans have class.

  • @swassontelus i am sorry you dont know good music at all. someday you will. keep listening to your music where you can see things thats always cool....

  • @ufferndiawl Oscars are voted on by the foreign press mate. The American public has no say lol

  • @Rdixon8047

actually dude thats the golden globes. the oscars are decided by americans filmmakers.

  • I could listen to his voice for hours!

  • Dave still cracks me up after all these years with his self-deprecating/supercilious persona.

  • the exchange btwn dave and ryan at performance end is darling. you can always tell when dave really likes someone. loving it.....

  • Might be the best talent I have seen in over 10 years.

  • That must be a pretty interesting closet you've been living in.

  • @windtested Do you work for Brittany Spears?

  • @windtested What about britney spears? LOL

  • @windtested

Since the Copperhead Road-times Steve Earle probably. :-)

  • @windtested Surely you people are being sarcastic??? This is such fake sounding bullshit! This is like something I would have composed as a novice, except I was more ambitious by the time I made my first recordings. I would like to think that Jeff Bridges could come up with something more original and meaningful than this, given an hour or two. I'm so thankful I'm not like everybody else. Jeez, people, that was horrid. Open your minds and ears, please.

  • @sweetorganic and just what is it that you have produced and recorded? if you dont like this then you dont have a pulse.

  • 3:50 the first rule is...

  • I first saw him on Austin City Limits with the Drive-By Truckers and thought he was great. I just found out he was on the soundtrack to Crazy Heart. Awesome that he is getting recognition for his talents.

  • Fucking youtube servers..... But it's a great song !

  • Ryan's AMAZING. I'm sorry to say I had never heard of him until I saw Crazy Heart last night (amazing movie, btw). Now I'm off to buy his music on iTunes!

  • Good Job Ryan-you came a long way since the front porch on pearl street..your an inspiration and a legend-10 years will get you there.

  • was first exposed to this song by his letterman performance. must be why i like this version even more than the studio recording.

  • Good to see Ryan getting more attention, he deserves it.

  • you can do your owne tour ... great voice and just love the song

  • Wow!!!!! This song touched my soul the first time I heard it. It has grown in my heart. Thank you Ryan. Peace HE did win the Golden Globe!!!!!

  • Ryan will kick some Golden Globe ass! My money is on him!!!

  • and he won!!! woo hoo!!

  • FYI Dave: Yep, Ryan has seen the movie, HE IS IN IT!

  • I love ryan bingham! Such a great song. Come back to Texasss!

  • Fantastic.

  • Brilliant and simple

  • this guy is amazing

  • Woah. I'll say it again because I am so much in awe over this song.

    Woah.

  • He should do a tour with Springsteen.

  • beautiful song Ryan!

  • That's twice he said Ryan was from TEXAS ?! WTF..... Such great soul ! Keep it up looking forawrd to the 3rd (4th) album...

  • Sure missed you at steamboat Ryan. Get your ass back to TEXAS so we can hear some decent music!!

  • I love this song - what a great thing to have in the world in our music!

  • A very talented individual
