  • MCCAIN PIZZA POCKETS SUCKS

  • what a halo mod man hooooo

  • The music rules :D

  • ur shyt is wack my is way better

  • very good mod nice video but a little suggestion idk if this is like a second video but i suggest doing the fan shroud mod i did it 2 mine easy process other than that great video 5 stars

  • sorry but i want to know what is the thin on top of ur xbox ?

is that im new in this stuff about xbox :p

  • @ELVPJ hd dvd player

  • gay music

  • @deatharrows411 nigger

  • @hordeforrlife i dont think people should belive someone that cannot spell heatsink correctly how can it combust really. and the most heat will be coming from the CPU and the GPU. and misspells listed just cuz :D > combust, explode, sink

  • dont exactly like the music =\ but anyways yea the carboard thing will work just check on it every 2-3 months i guess since now its just vulnerable to dust blockage

  • how to make own adapter for fans

  • Check my xbox cooling mod out.

  • dude i did the same shit to my 360 like a year ago and it actually works very well i also improved better by soldering the fans directly into the power supply using the xbox 360 mother board. this kept the fans at its highest speed and my rig was always very cold. NOTE: if ur not good at electronics do not try that or u will probably burn ur 360. this worked very good till lightning struck and killed my 360 :( anyways goodluck wth trying that. Fans run 12VDC wich is wt ur 360 puts out

  • can you use anykind of tape ?

  • mmm......... halo 3 marathons ;]

  • un xbox360 modat e mult m ai smecher de cat un ps3

  • speak in zee English dosh bag

  • using thin aluminum such as from a pop can instead of of cardboard works even better yet. cut a piece flat a little wider than the heatsink and fold it over the edges, drill tiny holes and screw into place on the sides and maybe even a couple on top. This not only helps channel the air as described but adds metal to the heatsink for added cooling surface area. Of course, the heatsink must be removed to drill the holes.

  • EatMyAR;

    Well Said!

  • And to everybody saying this doesn;t work, it does, place your hand over the top of the heatsink and feel the air being sucked through the side.

The other thing to do which is really great is split the extractor cover with cardboard down the middle so each heatsink gets one fan equally, because as you can see the gpu extractor area is a lot lower than the cpu.

    Common sense.

He could've tidied it up a bit more though, I'll post a video of mine when I get it done.

  • Woohoo go and fuck your PS3 then.

and its free online play, it sucks shit.

  • Comment removed

  • to be honest, I'd still prefer an xbox 360, even though it has had RROD problems etc.

Purely because it's fun to play around with it on the inside and learn how your 360 works.

And you get the added sense of when you fix it you've accomplished something, definitely shows who really loves their x box and who doesn't.

  • ps3=balls. games that are "ps3 exclusive" normally come out on 360 and online for the ps3 blows.

  • Comment removed

  • pfft.. i think its more like PS3.. sink a load of money into it and play only a few exclusive games.. Sony is only finally getting it together but took a hit when some titles stopped being sony-exclusive. mind you they have some good titles but they are few and far between

  • Comment removed

  • give me some reasons... netflicks, multicontainer format playback, best selling games, biggest multiplayer online service ona console, price, and not having to rely behind he bells and whistles of Blu-Ray?

  • Comment removed

  • well mods like this are more than just twisting wires together and shit.. why not look at my vid on how to convert an xbox controller for usb to see... finesse...

  • finally somebody else with a brain! (claps)

  • @daiatlus79-

PS3- FANS BURNING OUT, YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH, CD'S GETTING STUCK, WAITING FOR DOWNLOAD IN EVERY SINGLE NEW GAME YOU GET, POOR INTERNET SERVICE, TERRIBLE LOOKING, SYSTEM..... SHOULD I GO ON......?

  • Comment removed

  • i agree with you on that one.. i have seen more than one bricked ps3... but i have looked at the numbers.. and i am thankful that i have a wii... 2% brick thats it!!!

  • @diehard5830- WHY CAN'T YOU ADMIT XBOX 360 IS BETTER?

  • fine its better happy now? YAAAAAAAAAY

  • by far the best way to fix your problem is to get a PS3

  • That card board and electrical tape trick won't actually improve the heat sink's design

  • dude this is auto death for the 360

  • i modded my xbox with a new case and i power all 12 of my fans from the xbox 360s power supply it runs for long periods of time havent gone past 12 hours so far but still works

  • We shouldnt have to do this shit, fucking microsoft!!

  • Nice video man. Rise is the shit!

  • y do u think everyone is dumber than u u fuckin douch u said like 4 insults to all of youtube viewers

  • lol were you one of the "dummies" he was talking about? why do you feel insulted?

  • LOL! My xbox was brought on ebay! second hand and the person before had since the launch of it. Guess what, its still going! All you need is an external cooler that goes on the back, and keep in an open space no way near a radiator or a 'hot zone'. Screw this ugly beastly thing! And rise against are corperate whores, listen to the 60's man!

  • have you ever heard of natural convection? This is why this design will overheat your GPU

  • This music doesnt suck . great vid bro !

  • yea men rise against rocks!!!

  • ur music sux :)

  • so does your father but i hear he swallows

  • lol ur real defense isnt this the song u listen to when fucking ur bf?

  • i kinda did this but i only covered about 1/2 the heatsink with alum foil. i also did the 12v fan mod and it works wonderfully! addin fans on the outside looks ugly! i mean you already have an intercooler on the back!

  • like were gonna do that shit which makes it look horrible on the aftermath.

all u gotta do is have ur 360 in an open space.

and i still have my launch console from '05.

  • This method works well, but, you should NOT cover the entire GPU heatsink. Also, instead of cardboard, use Aluminum Foil Tape, it works way better and it helps disipate heat. Anyhow, the trick is to only cover about 1/3 of the heatsink with Foil tape. Covering the entire heatsink with cardboard or foil tape actually contains the heat and it adds resistance to the air when it enters the outside edge of the heatsink. Trial and error kiddies

  • I agree, but the technology wasn't there then, the falcon boards are the ones I have now, the Japer board should solve the problem. Again, it all comes down to heat and overheating. Thanks, have a good day. Hopefully the Jasper boards will end the debate about the RROD

  • its not a matter of the technology not being there at the time. there have been dual processor boards out there for years. (before dual core chips) with the processors side by side. all they would have to have done is redesign the board layout not the chips.

  • Dumb, I think not (go to my channel), bad at typing probably. If you are that scientific. Put everything back as you said even the case and leave a pyrometer in between the heat sink. You have alll the typical scinetific hypothesis, materials, plans and procedure but no results (this is critical, don't you think?). Log the video and show me and others the temperature drop you are claiming (uncut video). I think you will be amazed at the end result, I'll let you figure that out.

  • thanks for replying. glad my sarcastic personality didnt scare you off, i love a good debate. I honestly dont think M$ thought of this before, or tested more then a handfull hardware configurations. if they did the 360 wouldnt have had so many fatal design flaws. although i will admit they have steped up and delt with the problem by covering the red death for 3yrs. any computer nerd with the proper knowledge on the 360 will tell you that EVERY xeon board 360 will die.....

  • ...if you game alot, like i do then its probly happened atleast once. if they did try every hardware configuration possible the gpu would never have been under a dvd bay. it would have been right beside the cpu, going up and down not side by side. that way you could have both chips well vented, hell might even have been able to use one rectangular heatsink to cool both chips and cut costs. doing my own video posting my recorded temp test, i could but not for a little while.

    1) no camera

  • 2)dont have proper temprature equipment.

3)and most important, dont have a working xeon based 360. i have posted before here that this 360 finaly died. its the 3rd 360 ive had die. all 3 were xeon boards. oddly enough all were error 0102 first 2 died shortly after there 6 month of life. this one however lasted 2.5 yrs. i think that speaks for its self. i know thats having to take my word on that isnt exactly goin by the rules of the scientific process, but for now that will have to do. ......

  • i do repair busted 360s every now and then when funds are runnin low. and have 3 kickin around that i use for spare parts. between the 3 im sure i can get a workin 360 out of them. as for an uncut video... that would be a long ass video. atleast a 40 min video. 20 min of without mod and 20 min with mod. ill try to think of something to do a cut video that wold prove i didnt tamper with results. subcribe to me ill eventually do it but not anytime too soon.

  • From a physics 101, heat travels for effiencetly vertial not horizontal, the surfcare are you are trying to disipiate heat from is less efficient now and will proably run hotter now! Put a pyrometer and compare before and and after. Just thought you ought to know. Go back to school!!!

  • you must have design the origional xbox 360 xeon board that was plauged with fatal design flaws. let me explain the mod clearer for you since you seam to be slightly retarted. ill have to do this in more then one reply because making fun of you is... well, fun. but it takes up text space. ill also try to type slower since your command of the english language is less then steller. im not the greatest speller but your spelling and gramer is at a grade 2 esl level at best. yet im the one that......

  • ...needs more school? ok,time to dumb it down... heat sinks work better when air moves accross all those fin lookin thingys. there is a gap between the heatsink and dvd bay that traps hot air. without this mod the weak 360 fans only suck out a small portion of that air,it doesnt move air accross the heatsink very well. what i did channels what little air the 360 fans do suck out to go accross the whole heatsink. aka cooling it better. this is not a new idea. high end pc graphics cards have...

  • been putting plastic covers over heatsinks and around fans to direct air flow for years. it is a cheap and effective way to cool hot GPUs. yes heat disapates better verticaly, but that rule doesnt apply when you (microsoft) crams an extreamly hot running gpu under a dvd drive. as for temp differences for a befor and after thing, i wasnt the first one to do this mod. as far as i know rbjtech was the guy who thought it up. he did a before and after and there was about 9 degree drop in temp.

  • Do it yourself as per my last comment. Do you think this was not thought of before the console was made in every configuation possible?

  • glad im not the only one that saw the problem with his idea

  • Another cooling mod don't know if it would be ruined by condensation but get one mini fridge drill holes for 360 connection cables and put 360 inside. Turn mini fridge on max cooling and there you go.

  • lol that might work for a half hour or so, after that condensation would short out the board. best option is water cooling kit. but there expensive about 200 on the cheap end. honestly believe this is the best cheap solution for a pre-jasper board. by the way those are hitting the shelves now. look for team fodu i think it is whatever team that starts with an f lot 843 and up. 150w power supply

  • The intercooler used in this video was the INTEC AIR COOLER, check my video for review and more information.

  • dude who is that song by??

  • how do u wire a pc fan to another power supply

  • i have only 1 question.......does the tape kinda melt after it been attached to the heat sink after a good while.. i just woundering before i create a thing like u did.

  • nope. its completely safe. this 360 lasted 2.5 yrs with the mod. the other xeon 360s i had died 6months after i got them. (was lucky got them exchanged) when this one finaly died did the towel thing with this mod still on the 360. the 360 gets dam hot but nowhere near hot enough to melt electrical tape or ignite cardboard. many allnighters with no issues. that is till it finally died.

  • ohh ok thanx man

  • doesnt make a shit wether you can see it or not. you will have less than pro gear and deserve for your console to catch fire. didn you pay attention to fire safety week in school? you dont use paper in electronics. lol go spend 3 bucks on a thin sheet of plexi at lowe's or home depot and stop being a cheap bastard.

  • are you fuckin stupid? the heatsink doesnt get hot enough to ignite anything. and it doesnt have any electricity flowing through it so it wont short out and cause a fire. its not a fuckin fire hazard, i had it going just fine for 2.5 yrs with no issue. as far as i know rbjtech was the guy who thought up this mod and he used wax paper. if that wont catch fire nothing will. the whole point of the video is to show that you can use shit around your house to make a shitty xeon board run better.

  • then enjoy your backwoods looking xbox.

  • are you retarted? how does something you cant see when the 360 is put together make it look bad???

  • the intercooler is a GIGANTIC piece of shit. grab a talismoon fan, works better + lights.

it's a good idea, dont get me wrong, but electrical tape and card looks tacky.

as far as the RRoD guy who's had 3 boxes die. learn to fix shit. otherwise you're stuck with dealing with microsoft and waiting weeks for you new box.

  • who cares what it looks like you cant see it when its put back together. as for my 3 dead 360s i know how to fix them ive done it for extra cash in the past just a pain in the ass and i cant be bothered. there is no 100% fix for the rrod they always go again. i only ever paid for 1 360 the first 2 dead 360s were taken back to best buy and exchanged ive never had to deal with M$.

  • lmfao at shaffer20

now that's a true xbox fan

  • not really the fact that ive had 3 360s die really pisses me off. its not in the video but i moded the case on this one thinking that the added fans and shroud mod would fix the rrod.... it didnt it died about 3 weeks ago. but the mod does help all 3 consoles were pre falcon boards, first 2 died 6 months after i got them. this one was about 2.5 yrs. so it does help. if u have a pre-falcn board and a void warrenty do this mod. otherwise send ur console in when it dies

  • Halo 3 SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why bother leaving a comment if thats the best you can come up with..... ok ill dumb myself down to your level. yo momma done suck my cock. bitch iz da only chicken head ho i know dat canz eats hotz dogs wit out chewin!!!! bitch swallows all mine nine inches and licks my balls at da same time!!!!!!!! lolololololololol omg bbq toaster cobra!!!!!! there that was about as useful as your comment. go back down to your moms basment and play some more american idol.

  • The 360 gets hot enough to melt sauter which is a type of metal so im guessing it gets well over 200 degrease

  • it doesnt melt solder, the 360 has a non-lead based solder that gets brittle and cracks over time because the boad slightly warps with the heat. the only way you can melt the solder is with a heat gun or solder gun. even on a dead console the cpu still shuts the power off when it reaches a certain temp.

  • I see...The towel trick supposedly works by melting sauter in the case to reconnect something...i guess im wrong

  • it doesnt melt, but the heat does make the cracked sauter join temporarily expand and reconnect, thats why it usually doesnt last more then a week or two. thats why when you do an x-clamp fix you need to tighten the replacement screws as tight as possible. it stops the cracked solder joint from breaking again. for the sake of scientific experiment pre-heat your oven to 200F and see if the consoles plastic case melts before the cardboard ignites. 2.5 yrs with this mod its safe.

  • haha hope u like ur hd dvd player

  • i did, now all i want to do is find gates and potatoe gun that shit through his front window.

  • hell yea feed the fire, damn thing gets so hot you be lucky not to burn the house down doing this.

just wire the systems fans to a 12v ps with a speed control

  • holly shit why does everyone think this will catch fire? the ignition temp of card board is mid 200 degrees. the 360 is hot but no where near 200 degrees at that temp your 360s case would begin to melt before the cardboard cought fire. i had this 360 running with this mod for 2.5 yrs with more allnighters then i can count. there was never an issue the mod makes the console run COOLER!!!

  • I like this idea. I'll probably wait for my 360 to die and send it in, get the Opous board someone mentioned, then when it gets back set up a cooling mod.

  • this mod would do good on an opous board but since the opous boards have the gpu heatsink woth the copper pipe your better off useing a core cooler. or you could even mount a small pc fan under the gpu's heatsink that sits on the copper pipe in front the cpu heatsink it would cool both the cpu and gpu

  • Will construction paper work?

  • i wouldnt use construction paper i just cut apart a ritz cracker box and it worked great. i also suggest a core cooler fan. my first two 360s were unmoded and died just after 6 months. this one just died lasted about 2.5 yrs. all three consoles were pre-falcon boards. but if your warrenty is still good think long and hard before you void it. alot of repaired consoles from ms are getting the opous boards, basicly a falcon with no hdmi. there more reliable.

  • song?

  • behind closed doors by rise against

  • ENCOURAGING YOU TO VOID YOUR WARRANTY its youtube xbox mod videos!!! yay!!! you are going to have to be fucking stupid to rip your xbox apart cause if you fuck this up your screwed

  • i have the knowledge to rip apart an xbox and not fuck it up. actually make a flawed system run better wouldnt that make me smarter then you? dont let your fear of breaking anything stop you from taking it apart and improving on it. my first two consoles were stock both didnt last far past 6m this one lasted over two years. the mod works and is very easily done. and if you do manage to break it a downs syndrome kid could do a console swap. blow dryer takes off the warrenty sticker intact.

  • microsoft will not fix it anyways they will just send you back a dead xbox that only works for about 3 weeks.

  • many, if not all of the people putting these videos up either have the knowledge to do this either through building computers, or experimenting. You should actually be thanking them for taking all the guesswork out of doing this so you have a straight shot at modding your xbox correctly the first time

  • All I have in my box is a set of talismoon whispermax fans in the back, and an xcm core cooler. Both are running at 12v, and the system has ran just fine and damn cool for over 2.5 years.

Your mods are good, but intercoolers are crap. I suggest getting a core cooler also, and modding all fans to 12v.

  • NO, now i'm ready for those Gears of War all nighters.

Matchmaking kills halo IMO, I can't stand who I get matched with but I guess it could be fun if I had like 4 other friends to play with in my party *but none of my friends play halo 3 anymore*

nice mod vid by the way, M$ severely underestimated the 360's cooling requirements.

  • damn, mine doesn't have these problems and ive had it for a year and a half.

  • i played about 2 hours a day on all three consoles. microsoft fucked up building these consoles. at the processing speed these chips operate, they get pretty dam hot and should not be covered by a dvd drive. they should have had the gpu and cpu to the far right side of the board. so both were well ventilated. way to manny of these consoles die

  • why not try to re-situate everything? is it possible?

  • it is repairable, but eventually it will break again x-clamp fix is a little tricky.

the chances of getting it right the first time around are slim, it takes alot of patience witch i dont have. ill just wait till the new jasper boards are out and do a console swap

  • halo3 sucks ass,

  • UPDATE: this console died. it is the third ive had die on me. the first two did not have the fan shroud mod, they lasted roughly 6 months. this one had the fan shroud mod and lasted a little over 2 years. you do the math this mod adds life to your console. this console uses a power brick that has an output of 203w the newer falcon boards use a 175w brick. so this is a pre falcon console.

  • it wot fix the 3 red lights but it might help with 2 red lights as 2 red lights means over heating, but that depends on whats causing it. send you console into M$ for repair if your warrenty is not void. otherwise your only option is x-clamp fix or penny fix depending on the error code.

  • plz reply will this take away the 3 lights and the 2 lights and what kind of pc fans to use

  • no it wont take away red lights

  • I did this fan shroud mod and also taped the CPU heatsink to the fan shroud as well...but I dont seem to notice much of a difference in the heat output(I dont have any external fans going like you do)...how do I know if its working? I know i taped everything securly and I have a talismoon whisper so i can actually see inside the xbox and know that everything is still taped...

  • since you have the talismoon fan your probly not noticing more heat coming out because there always at 12v so they pretty much take the heat out right away with this mod. my 360 still has the stock fans i noticed right away that with this mod the fans rarely go up to 12v they usually stay at 5v to 7v and the exhaust is hotter. thats a good sign since the 360 fans only go into 12v mode when the 360 gets really hot. if you put your stock fans back in im sure you will notice it to.

  • i ended up doing the shroud mod on the cpu to, i was doing a case mod so i redid everything. if i was you i wouldnt bother with putting the stock fans in to test out the mod. the talismoon fans and this mod should be more then enough to keep your 360 nice and cool. even with the stock fans it only really goes into 12v mode during all nighters1

  • i found the cpu in the xbox 360 quit cool

to touch. but on the other hand the gpu extremely hot i think it the main problem for all the faults. im going to use an vga heat sink fan system from ebay costs around 10 bucks. modify it to the xbox. just hope for the best!!!

  • i had the same idea a while back. i was going to put a pc heatsink on the gpu and leave the dvd bay external. but i gave up, it was way to hard to find the socket size of the gpu. i can tell you its not 775. i bought a socket 775 thinking if it didnt fit it should be close enough that it could be modified to fit. that just wasnt the case. if you are able to find out the socket size let me know what they are. best of luck!

  • Socket 775 is a CPU socket spec NOT GPU.

You would probably have a better chance ripping a heatsink off a computer video card and trying to mod it. *they are much more lower to the ground than a cpu heatsink.

  • first off, you imply that all of your viewers are morons (i.e., using the words "stupidity" and "retard") and that is unflattering. next, why did you put cardboard over the heat sink? the purpose of a heat sink is to absorb heat, then dissipate it into the air. putting cardboard over the heat sink fins traps heat. the external fans you put on the bottom of the case would work just fine, there is no need whatsoever for cardboard over the heat sink...use aluminum or copper instead.

  • stupidity and retard are used for comedic value. grow a funny bone. the material you use over heatsink doesnt matter. the cardboard directs the airflow over the entire heatsink. meaning, air is forced to travle through the heatsink and cool it down. if left stock the 360 only sucks the warm air out that gets trapped between the dvd bay and heatsink. there is verry little airflow actually cooling the heatsink. all your doing is extending the fan shroud to direct air movement

  • FIRE HAZARD heatsinks hit at least 80'c im using soft wood over mine works a bloody charm as cardboard will catch fire wood does not at those temperatures :D :D :D

  • cardboard will not catch fire, the 360 doesnt get hot enough to ignite the cardboard. i know ive had this mod going for over a year with many allnighters. my 360 never cought fire. it takes over 200c to ignite cardboard.

    god dam your all retarted.

  • doesnt the tape melt on the freaken hot as hell heat sink?

  • use electrical tape. it wont melt. the 360 gets dam hot but not anywhere near hot enough to melt electrical tape.

  • just hook the stock fans up to a +12 volt source instead of the +5 volt on the board. the fans are made to run +12 and will be loud as fuck, but it will cool guaranteed.

  • great idea. this is a fix that i would recommend for anyone who is skidish about cuting any wires. doing the 12v fan mod and the fan shroud mod would be the best and cheapest to keep the 360 cool.

  • i would not recommend anybody using this fix, anytime, ever.

  • why would you not recommend this fix? have you ever done it? dont knock it till you try it. i had 2 360s die 6 months afte i got them.

(theye were stock) this 360 has been running for 2yrs with no issues. so it must work. and for the rest of you idiots out there who think using cardboard is dangerous, The fire point of cardboard is 258°C. the 360 gets dam hot but not quite that hot. the plastic case would begin to melt before the cardboard catches fire.

  • im using wood as it burns at much higher temp then cardboard i wil use metal at a later date :)

  • hey that a good idea!

  • So wamer2000 you mean to tell me when your older you wont be playing video games? The way i see it once a gamer always a gamer no matter what age.plus keep in mind the people that make and design the games you play are in the age range of 25 to 40.

  • lol...poor xbox i bet then next time u take it apart it will have ice in it..lol..well i made an ice machine

  • the intercooler is a very poorly made proudct, it is very noicy and the fans often scrape against the 360 which makes an even bigger noise. however the cooling is very efficient and it greatly reduces the tempresure of the 360, it saved my brothers 360 from constant rrods and im sure that it will make mine last longer aswell.

  • Yea can't wait for MGS4

  • Wouldn't that catch on fire? ROFL I'd rather stick to my PS3.

  • this is xbox 360 not ur fucking ps3!

  • djiiz! whats all the big fuzz about?!? PS3 or 360 : I like em both!

  • lol yea same here. if theres a game thats good and i want to play it i dont care what system its on.

  • RIGHT ON WAMER2000!!

    oh and wtf is lok?

  • name 1 good ps3 game that isn't on the 360.

you can't because there aren't any. ps3 has shit for games.

  • your a fag. thats the best come back you can dish out? your as useless as tits on a bull. be creative with your wit, or shut the fuck up. you make yourself lok stupid.

  • do xbox 360's really suck that much that u need to put a pc fan on them so they work better?? thats sad. oh and by the way, now it looks like a pile of crap.

  • by the way, your a fag and your mom could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. bitch goes deep to the base of my cock and licks my balls at the same time!!! only girl i know who eats hot dogs without chewing them. guess what im trying to say here is that shes a slut that gives great head! i could go on but that would be as pointless as leaving a stupid comment on a youtube video i didnt like.

  • ohh, im sorry.

someone is obviously very touchy about their computer nerdiness and xbox arent they?

  • no shit im a nerd. i have a brain. not just a pretty face and an 11" penis.

  • The video was Great, but i dont like the idea of puting pc fans on the xbox 360. I makes the xbox 360 look like it came from a pile of junk that was left out in somebodys basement for a really long time. It's allso not safe if you have little brothers or sister like i do. other then that the video was close to perfect.

  • subcribe to me, im not quite done yet but im going to put up a video soon with this 360. ive got the case window and paint job done, im also making an intercooler internal.

  • nice vid man i did it to my xbox 360 :)

  • can i use a piece of aluminuim insted of cardboard, and if not do i need to wrap the bottom of the cardboard or just the top?

  • you could use aluminium to. i only use cardboard with electric tape (top only) because it doesnt transfer heat to the dvd drive. you may have noticed that you can actually feel the heat off the disk when you take it out after an hour or so of play time. with this mod you cant really feel any heat off the disk at all. which sould help extend the lifespan of the drive.

  • just dont use tinfoil it rips too easily

  • hey thanks, ohh one more question is it safe using the cardboard wouldnt it burn?, it is cardboard and from what i heard the heat sinks can actually bur your skin.

  • you'll be fine. use thin cardboard like from a cracker box. thats what ive used for every 360 ive repaired and for my own 360, which has been working great for 18 months. i play min 45min a day. weekends its on for hours with games dvds and music. it sounds and looks ghetto, but it works. the heat sinks do get dam hot but it would have to be a little over 100 degrees hotter to ignite the cardboard. youll be fine.

  • I can play my xbox for days and it will never overheat it will get hot I bought it when it first come out and with the intercooler i got the red ring of death so I took it off and its fine ever since its called keep the room cool and dont leave it on the floor or in the cabinet with the doors closed.

  • sorry bud dont mead to sound like a dick, but ive repaired about 50 consoles. i know my shit. and based on what you said you either,

    1) have the intercooler that uses the 360s power supply, which is known to cause false rrod because it interfears with the 360s flow of power. sometimes actually shorts out the 360. 2) have a verry minor weak solder joint on gpu or memory. had it happen a few times, if its a minor crack in solder it will reconnect after a few min of being turned on.

  • why not just water cool it? THis mod also works with aluminuim which is easier to wrap around the heatsink.Good luck ppl

  • i dont shit money, water cooling is somewhat expensive. this was ment to be more of a poor mans effective mod.

  • I did this today, just without all the tape over top, just as it should be more heat from the gpu fan, put some cardboard inside the plastic between the gpu am cpu side, it really does a good job!

  • I don't know, my friends intercooler was super loud, but it did the job, his 360 was sooooo cool, the side was not one bit hot while playing assassins creed, but it was the one that uses separate power, it seemed to cool better than my cousins regular intercooler. I personally would never use one, mods always win in the end.

  • well done how long has she being going strong for now? just fixed my rrod yesterday!

  • its never died yet, i had 2 die on me but took them back to the store. bitched and got an exchange. (got lucky) its been going for about 6-8 months. just did a case window paint job and internalized an intercooler. will have a video up soon.

  • those are all good things to do, but doing things like the 12v fan mod may be detectible by M$. so do it at your own risk. im in the middle of a huge mod, 12v fan, case window,

paint, and making the intercooler internal. stay tooned folks vid should be up in a week or so

  • grats on making ur xbox look like a ghetto piece of shit

  • there is far worse looking cooling mods out there. i dont give a shit what it looks like just that it doesnt die. go watch some more bluerays on your ps3 thats all its good for. there isnt 1 ps3 exclusive game that makes the console worth buying. fuckin ps3 fanboys

  • lol moron i hate ps3 because of the reason its only worth buying because of br... i didnt diss on the xbox whatsoever i love xbox... i only said urs looks like shit... and way to comment ur own vid

  • i had to make mine look like shit so it wouldnt die like the other two i had. i love the xbox to when its working but lets face it M$ made a pile of shit. either it looks like shit and keeps working or looks stock and eventually gives you that angry red eye.

  • still better ways to make external modifications and replacements to heatsinks, etc... ide much rather deal building external mods untill then... also it should be plenty possible to mod one to have a watercooling system that will make sure it stays intact... either that or ditch the 360 look alltogether and put it in a computer case... but srsly cardboard... and ducttape wear out and are too makeshift

  • WTF, you never see the fucking thing so STFU, and don't cry about how it could be seen if you had a case mod, NOOOO, the drive always covers it, if you never see it who gives a fuck.

  • dont listen to vfpedro1, he's an asshole. Great idea about the foil on heatsink! Im gonna do that today.

  • Good idea on how to void your warranty, whils your at it, you should put a multi colour led fan on the heatsink, and add a clear case.

Or you could just do what i did, check it out.

  • i let the fans run for a good 15-20 min after

usually just to lazy to get up and turn them off lol
