  • this computer is worth a ton! it belonged to jesus!

  • Windows 7 runs just fine on a Pentium 3.

    A Pentium 4, though, that's another story....:3

  • The question is, what doesn't this run on?

  • my old hp vectra from 2000 (11 years old now lol) runs windows 7 with aero. painfully slow though (733Mhz). Im installing XP Pro SP1 on it. sp2 and up isnt as zippy as I'd like it.

  • yes it is true people windows 7 can run on a 12 year old pc and most of the time better the windows xp me 2000 ever did.

  • Comment removed

  • liar... your screen says Ultimate!!!

  • @bslgeorge so true.... I actually have that PC and it does go really slow on Windows XP...

  • 1.0 Windows Experience !

  • My friend had a old computer like this , he got a new one and blew the old one up that was epic.

  • will win7 be able to run on this computer w/out lagg and be able to run games like DMC 4?:

    AMD Sempron 3000+

    GeForce 8400

    1.81GHz

    1.50GB DDR 400 RAM

    :] tnx ^_^.....

  • @XxTreceZxX yup

  • @XxTreceZxX i dont play game but my pc=(512ram 3Ghz 40G hardisk run so slow with win7)and I can not changed as much regedit keys like XP =then I go back to XP it run as fast as my dell inspiron 1545 3ram 2.1Ghz intel 2core(win7)to me u keep XP better cause more regedit key modified in win XP try it out may be I am wrong:D

  • @MrTritran im not really gunna change to win7 cuz I dont think games would run smoothly on win7 w/ this specs.....XP is still my friend :3.....but ones we have bought core 2 duo 2gb ram I would definitely upgrade to win7

  • it will run seven but the game is up in the air 1.81 ghz is a little low

  • @XxTreceZxX yes it will run great on that hardware. Any k8 or k10 amd cpu will blow through win7 no problem.

  • LooperNor says hi!

  • Where do you get this windows 7

  • @darmizi96 He either brought it or he downloaded it...

  • can i run windows 7 with my pc?

intel pentium 1.5 ghz 1 gb ram??

  • facepunch lol

  • 1,0 in WEI, looooooool

  • Not bad at all for 256 megabytes of RAM!

  • Which Win7 is that, Starter?

  • @smartguy5000 Home Premium.

Doesn't have Aero bcus the graphics card on this computer sucks.

  • @LooperNor

That doesn't mean the Graphic Card sucks...

We've got a Radeon 9200 in our home computer, and it works fine, just no "Aero".

  • @2BunnyReturns I didn't say it sucks because it doesn't have Aero, it said it doesn't have Aero because it sucks.

  • @LooperNor

I Quote: "bcus the graphic card on this computer sucks" - this implies that the card sucks.

Your last post just contradicted myself and you. ☺

  • @2BunnyReturns Yes I said it sucks, but I didn't say it sucks because it lacks Aero, and I quote: "Doesn't have Aero bcus the graphics card on this computer sucks."

Note how I say that the lack of Aero is because the graphics card sucks, and not oposite, as you suggest I have done.

  • @LooperNor

That's true, much how I said in my two comments above.

  • @LooperNor How did you get Windows 7 to install on 256MB of RAM? I believe it doesn't let you install if you have below 512MB, right?

  • @LooperNor i wonder if itl be able to run windows 8 when it comes out

  • @LooperNor Need a 256mb card, I found out that no matter what card I use it has to be over that to run aero.

  • @smartguy5000 No, because, that windows media center. Win 7 strater in No windows media center.

  • yeah but who need windows media center downlaod itunes or better yet winamp

  • @acd683

Itunes is a resource hog to the extreme. Dunno what winamp is though.

  • @smartguy5000 Windows 7 starter is only available for netbooks.

  • Save your money. Run Xubuntu Linux on that machine. You'll have free software and higher security from Windows-based viruses and malware.

  • @JesusManson323 ...

I still wonder how many times I have to say this:

It was just proof of concept.

    It's running Arch Linux now.

  • @JesusManson323

Perhaps you know why they ask money for Windows? Do you think because there might be a whole company behind it and do you realize nowadays almost everything is made for windows? I'm not saying any linux distro is bad, but I find it really wrong to say linux is better than windows.

Also, your windows pc can get less malware than a linux. It's a matter of how you use it. Obviously, less malware is made for linux, but it still a matter of what you do with it.

  • Too blur cant see your spec. Why don't you strip the beautiful theme to classic theme. It will be a lot faster

  • @bbmak1125 because classic sucks

  • I'm running Windows 7 on an 8 year old IBM Thinkpad R31 with a 1GHz Celeron Processor. Got the thing for $25 at a garage sale. It runs better than it did with the XP Pro that came with it.

Side note: Upgraded the hard disk to a 100GB, 5400rpm drive with 8MB of cache and upgraded to 768 MB of RAM. Was a little tricky to find the W-Fi and PCMCIA USB 2.0 card bus driver, but one day they both just started working, guess "7" found a driver. Go figure.

  • @RootBeerFlavored my thinkpad is 8-years old too (its a 1.8 GHz pentium 4 "M" and 256mb RAM and 40Gb HDD and its a t30.its a great laptop! in fact its my main *and only* computer *that works so netvista get outta here!*

  • @Robloxian182 i have Thinkpad T41

  • Woooooooow D:

  • probally Home Basic?

  • yeah...even it can run on my 1.8ghz wt 512mb ram...and EVEN with GeForce4MX with The Sims 2 on it...live for old pc!

  • ive got a celeron d 2.9ghz and 1 gig of ram. works fine for me. so far at least.. just installed it(an illegal copy of course, i wont buy anything from microsoft again since all the problems ive had with windows 95, 98, millenium and that crappy 360)

  • watta experience index dude 1.0 haha.lol=))

  • soooo... it would run better on my HTC HD2 than this computer?? hmmm

  • @coldfustion Wouldn't run at all.

    Different processor architecture.

  • @LooperNor lol yea true, but IF it had some kind of port.

  • funny....the install wil not let you proceed if you have less than 512mb of ram....

  • @MTLbigJ You can change that by modifying a value with vLite.

  • can you not upgrade it to more ram 512 or XXX mb lol

  • that thing is slow

  • @ShevaFC What do you expect on ancient hardware? Really?

  • @LooperNor you really wanna know?

  • @ShevaFC

    Says Captain Obvious

  • @OudenNieuwAbuse you the actual guy in the pic? bit like what you would look like

  • can you tell how you got it to work on 256mb plz cuz i try bt i wont let me install it

  • Um... Minimum requirements are at 1 GB of ram...way to go.

  • @DavosMoon no 512 mb requirement but it's slow 2 pages of internet and it lagss but still better then vista!!

  • @mynameisreggiexp ok look direct quote from the Microsoft windows 7 System Requirement Site: "1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)",

And honestly, most people agree that after the first service pack, vista sucked much less.

  • Yeah, it works and seems to perform smoothly on your computer, but how many programs do ya have installed?

  • @KamenRiderDecadeX I had a few.

Acrobat reader, Opera, Windows Media Encoder, and so on.

Enough to put it to some use.

  • i beleave it lol but i dont think its a smart thing to do cuz it will slow you down but cool nonetheless

  • YOU ARE LAYING MAN Y TIED ON 256 RAM

  • What?

  • Hey guys just 2 warn u all NEVER dual boot ubuntu with vista! I never got my computer back after dual booting

  • I didn't have a problem.

Had an old 512MB Vista machine. Got an Ubuntu Linux CD, and installed it. It created a nice dual boot screen where I could choose Vista -or- Linux.

The machine ran a heck of a lot better on Linux than it did on Vista (512 MB is not enough for vista).

  • Lol you must have been lucky!!

  • Or you did something wrong yourself.

  • How do you get it to run on 256MB ram? From my experiences, the minimum is 512MB.

  • Changed the limit in vLite

  • I'd like to see Vista try to run like that..

  • Windows 7 is designed to match the theme with the current settings it is in. so if something isn't high enough to run both aero and a game

  • nice p3

  • Does anyone know what Graphics card is the best for me my resolution is shit and its 640X480 and its lower resolution for Windows 7 Ultimate its terrible like in Safe Mode!!!

  • You need those drivers. I know it was a very long frustrating process to find the drivers for my Radeon 9200, but I eventually found some that worked.

  • Actually Windows 7 is designed to match the theme with the current settings it is in. so if something isn't high enough to run both aero and a game, windows 7 will automatically change its settings to a lower setting such as 16-bit color to conserve cpu and ram.

  • how is that possible, u need 1.5g of ram to run win.7???

  • Where did you read that?

The "minimum" specs that Microsoft state is 1GB, but it's just what they reccomend to have a better than shit experience.

Doesn't mean it won't run on less.

  • @cheesekake22 I'm running on a laptop with 1 GB ram and only 768 MB usable to windows. It has a 1.6 GHz Intel Celeron, and it's working finely with full Aero glass.

  • how did you do it?

  • yes

  • Try Linux Ubuntu on your older laptop. will run much faster. Or dual boot and have both.

  • Thank you I know what Linux is.

  • yeah it sucks, had it once.

  • No it's great when you first know how to use it.

  • yeah you're probably right, i didnt really understanded it and it just is broken, wont boot anymore :S

  • yes it will it also will be faster than xp

  • yes i agree with padly88 . my windows 7 lags with a core 2 duo e4500 and 1 gb ram

  • And its wicked fast on my 1GB DDR1 Ram and 2.5GHz Athlon 64 single core.

  • my win 7 was laggy on 2 ggs of ram lol

  • But dude you cant say its running. Actually its crowling!!

Now i'm using Win 7 (not on 256 RAM, mine is a 1GB) and its awesome.

    Thnx for the video :)

  • Haha, funny one.

  • my laptop :

    CPU : Intel P4MOBILE

    RAM : 512

    VGA : 32

    HD: 40 GB

    Runs like a charm

  • Can it run on my old dell optiplex gx200 with 256MB ram 255MB usable, 80GB harddrive, 856MHz PIII Processor, 8MB nVidia Riva Graphics?

  • Probably, but you have to tweak it, and it will probably be pretty slow.

  • can i run it on my pc:

    Intel core i5 2.66 ghz

    2 gb ram

    506 gb hdd

    hd 5870

  • Either that post was ironic or meant to brag.

    Which means it's dumb anyways.

  • too bad its not much to brag about besides having a 5870

  • Ehh, no, I actually think your "OLD" cpu might explode, besides you don't have enough disk space, oh, yeah and your ram's amount is poor, it won't stand it [insert sarcasm here].

  • i installed it on a 800 mhz celeron

    256mb ram

    40gb hdd

    32mb vram onboard

i just had to install it with 512 mb ram fist then i lowered it as i progressed

  • My computer:

    Dell optiplex gx150

    384 mb ram

    Pentium 3 1 ghz processor,

and windows 7 works great for me!

    Just no aero.

  • I tried it on my old pc P4 2.0 Celeron with 256mb ram it said it can not be installed

  • There is a limit in Windows 7 at 512MB RAM, but it can be removed with vLite.

  • how I want to install it on my old computer

  • Your computer rocks! :)

  • Can The Win 7 Build 7600 Install On The Compaq Presario Computer?

    Spec:

    Proccessor Intel P4 516 2.93 GHz?

    Ram:512 MB RAM

Chipset: Intel® 82915G/82910GL Express Chipset Family

    Graphics: Intel GMA 900

    Plz Give Me Some Info!

  • It will be fine so long as you have at least 256MB of RAM and 16GB hard drive.

  • yes you can install install it but I am not sure about the performance of your pc

  • does anyone know how much more years i can get out my HP Pavilion Laptop

    Details:

    Genuine Intel(R)

    T1350 @ 1.86GHz

782 MHz, 504 MB of Ram

I would also like to know if its running this slow should i destructive recover it to get it running almost like new so i can run " Sony Vegas Pro 9 " and " Pinnacle Studio 12"

  • get like 1 gig of ram for aout $20 and you should have a good couple of years. p.s if you can afford it get an extra 2gig and you will be set for ages.

  • @Jynx8o8

It's most likely running slow because of your RAM. You can upgrade laptop ram pretty easy, look for it on YouTube. And it cost around 12-20 dollars.

Then you should be able to get atleast 3-4 years out of it, but by then, you should be able to get a new laptop.

But just upgrade your RAM and you'll be fine, and you'll be able to run Vegas and Pinnacle at the same time, with 7 installed.

  • graphics??

  • prolly earns a 1*

  • Hey everyone! trying to take a few more years out of my ol' PC.

    Will it run with:

    Intel Pentuim 4 HT @ 2.80 GHz'

    2GB of 667 mhz of DDR2 ram

    80GB 7200 RPM

    Intel GMA

    CD-RW Drive

  • Will run great, but without Aero.

  • Thanks for the help! Im thinking about it now i know it is a option.

  • I think with aero, Intel GMA supports Direct3D 9 ,-)

  • @Nyy8cp

That's actually a pretty decent rig. Should work fine. Win 7 works like a dream on my 7yr old laptop.

  • Windows 7 Should run fine although you need a DVD Drive to install it if you have the disc otherwise just extract an ISO image of the disc (if you downloaded it!) with WINRAR and then set it up that way!

  • 7 works charm on p4's with over 1gig of ram.

Guessing your board can go up to 3.6ghz p4. Check the motherboard spec to see what you can upgrade for cheap on ebay.

  • Does my Windows 7 will run fast this this Specs?.

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.50GHz

    RAM:3GB

    HDD:80GB

    Graphic Card:ATI Radeon X1550 Series 256MB

  • It should run perfectly fine on those specs.

  • Learn punctuation it's :"Will my Windows 7 run on these specs?" (I say it with no bad means :)

  • does windows 7 have the same performance on this laptop with windows xp? (word processing, multimedia, games(flash, casual games))?

  • Eh... Kinda. FPS on games drop about 5-10 depending on the amount of RAM you have on your comp. Everything else should run fine.

  • nice man

    5/5

  • im running Win7 on 512 MB of RAM its cool and everything its just it has its moments. Im tryna upgrade to 1 Gig

  • You can install it on XP and load a Windows 7 installation disk into the program.

  • Google vLite.

  • google sucks!

  • removed the ram checker in vLite, installed.

  • Probably, but don't expect it to be blistering fast.

  • could you ell me how to do this on mine please

  • google.

  • sorry my english sucks a lil

  • Haha, no probs man.

  • u sound liek a guy i would liek chatting to. U mind u send me ur yahoo, MSN,AIM? through you tube message?

  • how come win 7 used alot more mem than he has i got 4. gb ram and 1.22 gb is used and how can win 7 breath on only 256 of ram??? can i get mine to eat up less ram?

  • It's because of superfetch, and Windows 7 and Vista uses it to speed up the system if you got more RAM. There is no reason to make it use less, because when something else needs the RAM, superfetch releases some of the RAM it is using.

  • thx for reply and is it can u try win 7 on only 128 mb of memory?? is is possible and can it run with cpus under 1ghz cuz i heard some

  • Might work, but if it does, it will be extremely slow.

  • hmmm do u have MSN? if ye send it to me on you tube message plz

  • if i install win 7 on a pc with 1gb ram pentium 4 3.00 GHZ

    will it run good

  • My guess is that it will run allright.

    Not "good", but allright.

  • i hate the silly hd requirements!

I have installed OpenSUSE on my HD and i tried to install win7 and said NTFS Drive needed!

Surely it can run on an FAT32 drive!

  • use gparted to make a ntfs partition.

  • LOL FAT32 you are way behind the times dude...

  • i wanted to install windows 7 on my old pentium 3 but it only has a 10gb hard drive rofl!

  • I'm sure it will fit.

MS always overdo their minimum specs a bit.

  • can u please tell me where u downloaded the drivers for ur laptop

  • I didn't.

    Google your own.

  • wat is your video card im having trouble running windows 7 on a computer way better than this the screen resolution is always at 640 X 480 can someone help me and try to figure wats wrong

  • Sounds like there ain't drivers for your graphics card.

    Go look for some.

If you can't find any for 7, grab the Vista ones.

If there is neither drivers for Vista or 7, you are out of luck.

  • will win 7 could run nicely with mine pc

    AMD Sempron(tm)Processor 3400+ 2.00GHz

    1.00Gb ram

    Geforce8600gt 256mb

    230gb HDD

or atleast better then xp and vista?

  • It will definately run better than Vista, but I think XP will run better than 7 too.

    Would definately be usable though.

  • Comment removed

  • thnaks gona try win 7 , btw is it even out? i dont see nowhere in shops ..torrents whell there are full of them..must download and try in other pc :)

  • There's a download from microsoft that is not broken. Try to download the Win7 enterprise edition (90-day trial. ISO FILE SIZE:2,24GB)

  • okay t.y :)

  • It'a not yet released but you can still download the release candidate from it's site.

  • WRONG! goto newegg, it's been out on newegg retail for at least 4-5 weeks.

  • Yep, it's out on newegg, full released retail version of Win7.

  • i have vista ultimate running on a celeron 1ghz and 256 mb ram.

  • would windows 7 run on a pentium 2 with 448 mb of ram

  • You'd have to lower the RAM minimum install limit with vlite to install on less than 512MB RAM, but I do believe it would run.

It probably wouldn't run very well though.

  • yh ofcourse but no aero

  • sure this is lag??

  • Of the great Vdilkk do so by the installation of the Ram 256

  • what

  • Comment removed

  • Windows 7 haven't lost any features at all. Mind naming some?

  • DOS 6.22/Windows 3.1 legacy features: * VSAFE (95) * Enhanced Undelete (95) * Microsoft/Central Point Anti-Virus (95) * DriveSpace (2000) * Program Manager (XP SP2) Windows 95/98 legacy features: * FAT32 formatting over 32GB (2000) * Real Mode DOS Compatibility (ME) 2000/XP Features: * Full 'Run As' context (Vista) * Classic Mode Start Menu (Win 7) * Virtual PC without Hardware VT (Win 7)
  • Most of the listed features here are minor things that have been replaced by better things.

And you say Win7 has lost quite a bit against XP and Vista, but I only see three things it has lost against XP and two against Vista on your list.

  • That's just a summary based on what I can immediately think of.... ^_^

It depends on what you're comparing Windows 7 against naturally, but it has lost quite a bit against XP and some against Vista.

  • Oh btw, the OS versi
