  • i'm ready to shed tears during the hunger games movie, i will prepare tissues.

  • ... I'm scared.... Hold me.

  • You have a nice voice...but it's too choppy. It should flow more loosely than it does; the way you sing it makes it seem like each line is part of a completely different song.

  • Its not the hanging tree without all the verses!

  • I made up my own tune when I read the book... hearing someone else sing it is really weird. I think it's a little more choppy than I would have expected.

  • :( it's not the hanging tree with out all the verses

    Are you, are you

    coming to the tree

Where I told you to run so we'd both be free

    Strange things did happen here

    No stranger would it be

If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree

  • 85 people weren't invited to The Hanging Tree...

  • Wait isn't the 3rd verse like umm are you are you coming to the tree where i told you to run so we'd both be free strange things did happen no stranger would it be if we met up at midnight in the hanging tree?....

My favorite death song eveah and the books are like zee bomb!!!!!!!

  • oh crap. this song gives me goosebumps -__________-

  • two words....AUTO. TUNED. still....good version!!! XD

  • It's beautiful and the best version I ever listened to. Please add the third verse, it's addicting!!**

  • (SHIVERS)

  • Oh my god, this is amzing as fuck, it is the shit...

  • idk why... but this helps me fall asleep.... and i don't have nightmares... it helps a lot with my nightmares for some reason :/

  • @CheeseAndDomo it gives me goosebumps

  • GOOSEBUMPS

  • Is this the one that´s gona be in mockingjay or havent they made up their minds?

  • @niffenuffen

    it is

  • I imagined different, but it is good.

  • A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. but where is the third verse? THG!!! <3 <3 <3

  • I play the harp, and i've put a harp backing to this, thinking about doing it for my school talent competition. Anyone got an opinion?

  • @TheMegaEccentricGirl That would be sooo cool!

  • Creeepy.

  • This reminds me of the third Quarter Quell/75th Hunger Games, with the Nut. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

  • i effing love it!!!

  • Even though i LOVE the Hunger Games ....This song is just scary........

  • cept why no 3rd verse???

  • best version in my opinion~ <3

  • Okay , I read the books , and when i read the lyrics , I HAD to find the melody . Now that i have , I cannot stop singing this . It's beautiful and amazing . I absolutely love it .

  • This song is The Hunger Games! Creepy in a sense, but still makes you want to cry.

  • Every time i hear this song, I want to burst out in tears because this is how I imagined it, being creepy and beautiful. Plus, whenever i look at any of the Hunger Games movie pictures, it makes me wanna cry even more, because I can't wait to see the very emotional parts of the Catching Fire and Mockingjay movies

  • I honestly found this when I was searching for the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, lol.

  • They skipped a verse... "Are you, are you coming to the tree where I told you to run, so we'd both be free. Strange things did happen here no stranger would it be if we met up at midnight in the hanging tree." Still love the song though

  • @irizarryrachel13 Most important part too lool.

  • I'm pretty sure this was originally a poem..

  • i love this song sooo much

  • Could you put up a download link?

  • favorite so far

  • this is sick man talk to me later. !!!!!!@

  • Are there chords or tabs for this? I wanna play this on my GUITAR!

  • I like this better than the top rated one haha I think since it's a depressing song it sounds better with low notes instead of the other version where it randomly goes high :P

  • @alice

Not just that, I was under the impression that it was easy to figure out the GENERAL theme without even reading the books.

  • Btw, why is the third verse cut out?

  • @TheHollan1223

That's my point, he whistled some notes to the Mockingjay and drew SING. But I'm not quite sure how that was so moving that made her impulsivley sing a song she had not for 10 years.

  • I love the haunting tone to your voice in this one; it's perfect! I also think you did a great job on Rue's lullaby with and without the auto tune.

  • @Zzzip13strike she was singing this because pollux asked her to sing (by drawing it in the dirt) but it was impossible for her to say no to him he also wanted him to hear the mocking jays singing... So she instantly starts singing this song... Shes not even sure why she sings it!

  • What I don't get is what Pollux or the situation did that made Katniss sing the song aloud for the second time. The first time being when she was 6-7 and her mom yelled at her to forget it.

  • This is the one that I can picture Katniss singing when they're in the meadow. This is the one she's singing to the mockingjays. This is the one that puts Pollux in tears. This is the one.

  • The song is about a dead man calling to her lover to flee the torture of evil by the hangers, then dying with him, because the man believes dying is sweeter than living in agony and torture by his lynchers and other evil.

In the Mockingjay, it is more of the risking your life for the hope of freedom, than forever remaining in the Capitol. In there, it is better to die than to be abused and enslaved.

The song is first heard when Katniss sings to Pollux, and it is on page 123.

  • Is this from the audio book? I've heard there's an actual song sanctioned by Suzanne Collins.

  • @royalkitkat no, but if u like what its talking about, like strangling people then yes. In that case u should see someone about it.

  • What page is the song on??

  • The notes are a little awkward at some parts, like the "if we met here at midnight" part and others. I would change them, but the singing is great!

  • da fuck?

  • @guidosredhairedshow Have you even read the fucking books?!

  • @guidosredhairedshow READ THE BOOKS AND YOU WILL KNOW

  • when did katnis sing this

  • @Rosariovamplover1 she sang it in Mockingjay when they were back in district twelve to make propos for the war

  • This is the best version I've found so far. Eerie, simple, yet beautiful. I wish that third verse wasn't cut out though.

  • after i read the hg i couldnt c anything the same way my friend got me into it and i was walking outside saw a bird in a near by tree just a lil above me and i did rues whistle and it sung bak but like a regular bird would to another bird. all i did was smile and thought of rue

  • @waitwhatareyouasking omg where did you hear the whistle i have know!

  • @ladyknights104 watch the trailer on utube at the end wen it says the date u'll hear a dum dum dum dum and thts it

  • i love this song not only cause its weird i think its so amazing cause a guy wanted his true love to run away and not get in trouble and stayed and died with her love soo sweet in a weird way loved it thank u

  • Does anyone know what page this is on cause I forgot and I have a book report due tommorow! Please help!!!!

  • @Megapead page 123

  • @Austimo Thank you it means the world to me!

  • @Megapead Anytime

  • It skipped verse!!!! The last one was upposed to be "Are you, are you coming to the tree where I told you to run, so we'd both be free," then th necklace of rope part.

  • creeps....but pretty WHO CANT WAIT TIL THE MOVIE i hope therell be a vidieo game

  • I read the whole book without crying( mainly because I got sucked into it and it felt like I was actually there, killing mutts and taking over the Capitol.) and at the end I sat in shock for like, two hours and THEN I broke down. But I still loved rue and prim the most. The poor babies.... It was a good series, other than the fact it was a death war. Long live cinna, his alterations on katniss wedding dress were so amazing!!!1!!! And may the odds be EVER in your favor! Lol!

  • this is good!

  • This is easily my favorite version even though there is a verse missing :)

  • a verse is missing, but her voice is absolutely beautiful

  • This song is so hauntingly beautiful.

  • Somewhat disturbing... BUT I STILL FRIKEN LOVE IT

  • she's really good, but missing a verse. and please put the lyrics up?

  • Comment removed

  • The best of the all. It's like I imagine on my head when I read the book <3

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove u mean p****

  • It Sounds So Much Like I Imagined Katniss To Sound. Best Version!

  • I wish u didn't skip the 3rd verse....

  • it wasn't how i imagined the song!!!!!

  • i'm so sad you skipped a verse cause this is the best version ever! cant stop listening to it! i play it on loops while i read the book and cry

  • There needs to be a download for this so I can listen to it on my ipad it takes too much clicking to go to youtube

  • This song is so creepy. I listen to it in school.

  • you skipped a verse...just sayin

  • This version gives me chills...

  • You do realize that you skipped a verse....... Besides that I loved it..... It sounded just as it should

  • Are you, are you

    Coming to the tree

Where the dead man called out for his love to flee.

    Strange things did happen here

    No stranger would it be

If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

  • Are you, are you

    Coming to the tree

Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.

    Strange things did happen here

    No stranger would it be

If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

  • I love this song but it is not my faveorite version. I sincerely hope that this version is not used in the movie. The one that should be used is the one by VioletMockingJay!!! IT IS THE BEST ONE AND EXACTLY HOW I IMAGINED IT!!

  • You should get a download link for this!

  • creepy.

  • is it creepy that i find this song beautiful?

  • @royalkitkat KAITLLLLYN I FOUND YOUR YOUTUBE . -Clay (;

  • fuck the second and third book. i wish it stopped at the first one because everyone is just fucked over...mother fuck.

  • "l'arbre du pendu"?

  • this is the best version yet because its the only version thats creepy to me so far, the other versions are good but they dont manage to creep me out like the way i felt when i read it on the book during the night, so their song colapses but this one is close to how it feels, good job.

  • @davidlovestowrite check out "The Hanging Tree" by Sam Cushion & Rachel Macwhirter. its really good. so is this one though, gj guys!

  • If it was slower and not autotuned I think it would be perfect.. When she sings "Did happen here," and "No stranger would it be," it was a little run together, But I still think its perfect. :)

  • I had the biggest shivers when you sang the second verse... DAMNNNNN.

  • Where's verse three? "Are you, are you? Coming to the Tree? Where I told you to run so we'd both be free. Strange things did happen here; no stranger would it be. If we met up at midnight, In The Hanging Tree."?

  • Katniss was right! It is soooooooooo mysteriously lovey... in a weird.... awkward murderish way

  • excuse me but she left out the third stanza

  • Finnick was like my brother..I wish he was..other than my real no life brother who watches things like Running Man and laugh out loud like a no life boss... :(

  • creepy...

  • @jessybubblz omg yeah I died a little at that part. These books mess with your emotions!

  • I know everyones so upset that ______ died, but I'm more upset about ______ dying in the drains with the mutts :'( loved him!

  • @jessybubblz Oh, yeah....I miss ______ as well, I actually got to that part, put down the book and picked up a phone.

MOM: Oh, who are you calling hun?

Me: *sniffle* _____ died, I'm phoning an emotional support agency....

    MOM: Don't. You. Dare.

Me: Oh lord...this is like Rufin's death scene and Rue's put together 1000 times sadder...I need a doooooooctorrrrrr.....

(I think I went mad like Annie Odair-Cresta right then)

  • This is almost exactly the melody that came into my head when I read Mockingjay. Fantastic.

  • my favorite song is this song and rues luliby

  • My God. I was devasted at the end of Mockingjay. Couldn't they keep the people we love?!

  • @gleeratedawesomegaga I know when ______ died I was screaming noooo!!!!! and my mom ran in and she was like what and I was like Q.Q ____ died!!! and I started bawling

  • @67abby I started crying, it was terrible! God, I want it to be March!

  • is it weird that I imagined it just like this.....

  • these books really got on my nerves. They were too frigging short and there is a lot of other things they could have done. I read the entire series in one week.

  • The lyrics really match the music in "where did you sleep last night".

  • Best version of the song. I like how simple it is and how simple her voice is it reminds me of Katniss!!!

  • 75 got diches in the hanging tree

  • 74 people got hung :O

  • my favourite version by far :D

  • this is so beautifully unnerving...

  • they skipped one stanza or whatever you call a chuck of lyrics

  • this is so chilling. It's beautiful.

  • holy...crap

  • Amazing...exactly how I imagined it. This should be in the movie...exactly like this

  • nightmares

  • This is the BEST VERSION of the Song. Great thanks to you ;)

  • When a certain person died in Mockingjay, I thought I was gonna need a support group to get over it.

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove I know exactly who you're talking about and IKR!

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove WHO DIED! IM IN THE MIDDLE OF MOCKINGJAY! tell me tell meeee :DD

  • @cherwi91 Trust me, you don't want to know. It's a huge spoiler.

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove Lol i just finished reading it.... I wish Haymitch wouldve gotten married or somthinnn ! Lmao to his liqor

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove Same with me for two people! It all happened so fast :(

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove exactley.....i have almost cryed like 20 times with no exageration!Im not even done!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove

    who? Finnick or Prim?

  • @mungoose98758 Not that its my business, but I think this person didn't say who for those who haven't gotten to those parts yet..

  • @mungoose98758 Finnick but it was pretty much the same for Prim.

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove Oh my goodness I cried for an hour when he died!!!! I absolutely LOVED Finnick

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove OMG same here!!!

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove Who did you need a support group over? Finnick?

  • @WarriorHawkSpirit Yes.... ;[

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove I needed a supprot group (mainly composed offriends that rad what I read and need the same thing) for like every death of a good char in every book regardless of their being major or minor. Like Rufin. He only appeared in the whole series like twice and I was still sad. Yes, it's amazing how quickly a minor canon character can become your favourite if they're awesome. I like the chars but I barely ever admit it. And I wouldnt even for all the cash in this effing world.

  • @WarriorHawkSpirit For earlier message: I'm referring to series besides The HUnger Games. Because if Rufin was in the Hunger Games I don't even know what district he'd be in. Most likely 12. They have the typo and weird names after all.

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove my pyschiatrist says i need to accept that he's dead...I punched my pyschiatrist.....he claims i'm in denial

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove RIP Rue ;n;

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove The saddest part was not the characters that died and were layed to rest in the ground but those who still were breathing

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove that certain person shouldn't have died >:| like, seriously, its like when JK killed Dobby >:|

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove me too thought my heart had exploded

  • @Itsxjustxpuppyxlove

    for me, that was finnick

  • i just got to this part of my book!.... almost exactly how i heard it in my mind!

  • it would have been really creepy if the lights in the background moved O_O

  • In the audio book it sounds a lot different

  • I really hope that the song is sung like this in the movie.

  • they missed "where i told you to run so we'd both be free"

  • Love this and the book and its so addictive :)

  • Will you put it up to download??

  • Will you put it up to download??

  • my friend thinks this song is emo. =P then again, she thinks all of the songs i listen to are emo. o.O i am not emo. (nothing against people who are) =.= so much for her being my friend.

  • perfect just by itself and very creepy but can't stop singing it

  • I had goosebumps when i read the lyrics in the book . FREAKY SONG XD

  • Cool as and creepy at la same az time now where-ever I go its in my head or I'm singin it :D :) :) :) :) :D -3 it lovelovelovelove it the best

  • Goosebumps..

  • @loveedwardbella Apparently you do care because you wrote a paragraph long reply to my comment....
