agreed, hes already been successful there and pitching wins championships. pitching prospects are also more valueable as trade chips rather than position players
Both, the Sox are giving him a chance to see which positon is better for him. He pitched incredibly this season, but he was limited to 100 innings then he reported to rookie ball to take reps as a postion player again. Personally I think he should stick to pitching.
Boston is like a prospect factory - many of their top draft picks end up in the bigs. If I were a major league owner I'd try to mimic their scouting program. Pedroia, Youklis, Lester, Ellsbury, DelCarmen, Lowrie, Bard, Papalbon, Masterson, Bowden, Bucchholz, David Murphy, Cla Meredith, Aardsma plus this Bryan Price is suppose to be a hot prospect. The Devil Rays have drafted well too but they get high picks because they stunk for so long. Papelbon's brother is a hot Boston prospect too.
ya i finally realized that when i checked out the red sox minor league team. but i'm pretty sure they drafted him as a shortstop and he is tearing it up as a pitcher in the minors right now. =)
he isn's horrible i played against him! the kid drops dick and pitches nasty! and what if he goes to college and gets hurt then all that money he could have gotten from sports is gone! the organizations will play for education if they wish to go back after or during their careers! they know that most arnt going to so they offer it to all of them! for you to say he shoulda went to tennessee is the most ignorant thing he could have done! the kid is smart and athletic he made the rite choice!
Haha he cant be too bad, he just pitched a 1 2 3 innning for the MLB futures game... Hes a stud, went to highschool with him, trust me hes not overated...
ssgator04....in almost all contracts now you have your education paid for.... you can opt to take classes in the off season, or if you get injuried, the club pays for your education!!
no if ur drafted out of high school ur more likly to make it to MLB cuz hes really young. taking a pro opputunity is waaaay better than waiting 4 more years in college
Hmmm yea i think more important education or multi dollor contact to play pro. Note what would happen if he get serious injury what then. People need realize Education is more important, he shouldnt gone with Tennessee
I will go with pro.. Why? because the reason why we need education is for a better pay. Since they already offer him multi million dollar, why would you waste 4 years of your life in college?

Kelly had a disappointing season, but AA is advanced for his age. I'm not worried as he'll have time to adjust.
