2) america lets irresponsible underaged kids drive cars with several hundred horsepowers.

3) using seatbelts seems to be seen as "voluntary", no matter how important it is for safety.

Nick has to live with his actions for the rest of his life. That is far more worse than spending time in prison. I believe they were both at fault. Nick for driving recklessly and John for not putting on his seat belt. Who knows what the outcome would have been if her were wearing it.

years ago my brother and his best friend got into a wreck. High speed-slick roads- and equiptment failure. His friend was killed and my brother came out with a 8 inch gash to his head. The family decided to not press charges and except that it was his choice to get in the car. My brother has never been the same. Sometimes there are worst things then death....and nick has to relive it each day.
