Saw this band open for Rush back in 1980 and 1981 I was 15 at the time. Me and my 2 friends were the only 3 people into them...everyone else was booing them. They just didn't get it. Miss this band!
@ athlon64fx10 All cool, your opinion on SOME rap is valid -- you however paint w a broad brush -- there is LOTS of positive, politically or culturally aware rap, lots of rap with NO 'bitch & ho" themes. Bummer that no one gets that simple fact. Also--NEWS FLASH!!! LOTS of white people were "Acting black" when they decided to sing and play like Little Richard, Ike Turner, Chuck Berry and later Jimi Hendrix. Is Amy WInehouse, Adele & Duffy "acting black". ANYWAY, we agree that Max Webster rules!!
@weiss1432 kim used a gretch until it was stolen ,,, he then went to this es 335 ,,, then an es 340 td,,, then a bunch of others trying to sound like his gretch ,,, in the end he started using a squire strat with a los sedo neck and a humbucker in the rear ,,,,, but yes this is a standard es 335 gold hardware ,, i always like the looks of the es335 he wore it high making his legs look even longer than they are
Jason75...I hate rap and the direction society's taken to all act black. I am NOT racist but, seeing white people runnin' around trying to act black is sickening to me, insulting to OUR heritage and the black people just laugh at them and think they are a joke (as they should). Back to MW, yyeah, they rock and it's easy to see Rush's love to jam and do shows with them. It is the same type of changes, off tempo timings and weird shifts that Rush uses; with their own unique sound. ROCK ON!!!!
lickknob11 I was in 10th grade to rock on we're the same age, 40 now, guess what I'm still stuck in it, hate this rap crap generation they all act black there white, thats pathethic. wonder why im still stuck in the past, 50's through the 80's is the best. anyways rock on broheim.
this has always been my fav MW song! I saw them many many times in the original lineup. At the time nothing could compare to them and to this date nothing has surpassed their creativity and ability to stay cohesive without the expense of gettting unbalanced! Thanks!
1985 I was in 10th grade. I had the lyrics to this song written on my History class notebook. One day the teacher walked by and read it. He looked at me with a disturbed look and said, "lay off the drugs". Jelly roll on a comet kite.
I have been loving Max since 1978 or so... too clever for their own good - lyrically and musically... Pye Dubois is a genius... I hated prog rock but this converted me from a disco queen on the first real listen (on acid). Thanks to Billy and Skeets for New Year's Eve 1978 at Seneca College Field House..You can take the girl out of Scarboro but you can never take the Scarboro out of the girl...
Well then - someone tell us why Pye Dubois and Mr Mitchell don't get along any more - the max machine would not have been as good without Pye's words.
What's kept Kim Mitchell from making it huge in the U.S. is his head-up-the-ass attitude. I interviewed him awhile ago. What an arrogant prick. Kim, I hope you're reading this you pompous cunt.
hey hutinak....is that what you think faggot....he treated you like shit in the interview cause he could see that you knew shit about him and had shit questions....kim don't like dumb cunts like you and told me to ask you how he tasted, cause he fucked your wife last night, and blew his cum all inside her and she told him that she was going home to let you eat her out....so buddy how was it.....
Probably 1977, and their second album, "High Class..." had just come out, and they were supporting it by opening for Styx - saw them in Kamloops. I was an instant convert. The year of this video, I was doing lighting for a club band on bar circuit tour and we shared sets with a stripper who did a Max Webster set. She used mirrored sunglasses for this song.
really eh?? Max went Stateside did they??,I wasn't sure if they ventured that far, great band either way though.Nice to know someone down there apprecaites one of Canada's best rock bands ever!
It was July, 1978. They backed up Rainbow & Cheap Trick. Max played a solid 45 minute set, then Rainbow came out and tore the place up. 1/2 of the crowd left when Cheap Dick came out.
I'm not too familiar with this band; only by mention from Rush. These guys have a really unique sound. I know about Kim Mitchell with "Go For Soda", but this stuff is different- experimental. I'd like to hear more from these guys.
well maybe so. I'm not attempting to get into the trivia
of the album. Many "live" records form this era and before were heavily overdubbed with replacement vocals being subbed in so big deal. It was a good record and doesn't subtract one iota from Max Webster's ability.
I've seen them live several times (mostly from this era) and the were fantastic.
The max machine,i love Max webster Total perfection.Kim is an amazing guitarist. he has alot of great hooksstop.thank's for the music, From "theres Kim mitchell one time my friends and i were in a restaurant, and this women came to our table and asked me for my autagraph .I said i'm not Kim mitchell, butone of my friends said"cmon kim give her you're autagraph,so idid she said thanks Istill get "hi kim" or love you're music kim.the worst is at his concerts.
i have universal juveniles ( 1 of my faves ) and didn't know anything else besides his solo stuff was out there. I had to pay $25 because UJ was an import. Was this song off of an album / CD that i could obtain?
This song is from High Class in Borrowed Shoes. You can get the whole collection on line in many places. I bought the collection over a period of time and actually got all the albums.
Wow, I cant believe there is some Max Vids out there. A friend told me about these. What memories. 44 yrs old and still listening. So much a fan my oldest son is named Max. I'm from Fort Erie Ontario and was priveleged to see these guys at small venues around Niagara, especially in Buffalo NY at such places as Roof-tops, Uncle Sams and other bars. Some of my best memories are seeing these guys live. Come on Kim, I know you're reading these. Time for a reunion...
this is incredible - is there a way to save these things or get them in better quality? And yes, they played with Rush periodically, but seriously, if he replaced Geddy on vacoals and Alex on guitar, you'd still have Neil trying to write lyrics instead of Pye back then, would have never worked. In some ways I'm so glad Kim realized the whole Rush association didn't make sense. He would have never moved on and produced decades of even better music.
Maxed out! as a canadian kid you grew up in niagara falls in the 70's and 80's, this max vid(s) bring back alotta great times.... thank you for postin' keep em coming
Saw them with Rush twice and at a bar The Rox in Lubbock Tx on my birthday in 80 best f**kin show I have ever saw. Actually partied with them in the bar before the show they were walking around and nobody knew who they were but us. Terry Watkinson played asteroids with me. What a great memory

Saw them at my high school and at Centennial Hall in London in this era.........Friggin Brilliant !
