@bayley5150 you can put this very version on your ipod pal, goggle"youtube to mp3"...copy an paste from there to your pc an stick it on your pod...enjoy bro...VIVA VAN HALEN!!!
VH3 from a guitarist standpoint is a brilliant album, most fair weather music listeners would say it sucks!! real guitarists appreciate this!!!! Peace~
@bayley5150 I totally agree. I was listening to this album the other day...I like to re-visit it every so often and there is just some fantastic guitar work on this record. I love "Josephina" and pretty much all the guitar work on this record...the driveway sweeping is also pretty hilarious.
@ifta2004 Exactly!!!! as a guitarists standpoint this is a brilliant album!!! Their new album coming out might be a tough one to swallow, from bits and pieces of what i have heard,it seems dated, and not fresh!!! when they recorded Can't get this stuff no more and Me wise magic, with Roth that sounded fresh! the new stuff to me doesn't. Peace.
@bayley5150 I remember the exact moment in time when I heard "Me Wise Magic." I was in Buenos Aires in this dingy little hotel listening on my travel radio and I flipped out. After hearing that track I thought we were gonna get an album right away...that song was FIERY! When I realized nothin' was gonna happen I was so bummed! I totally agree with your comments about the new record...I'll buy it to support but it does have this odd 'dated' feel...The stuff ED churns out is pure magic.
@ifta2004 hey man !!! don't quote me on this though ,from what I have read online, the "new' album is a bunch "old" demos that were laying around?? I don't know ...we will see what happens next Tuesday!!!
I deployed to Afghanistan for most of last year... I played this song in my steel shop all the time. One of those songs that really gets you through things. Great tune by some real rock gods.
for all the zeppelin worship going on during this era of music, not even van halen could do a real unplugged acoustic song that functions compositionally and lyrically.
One has to wonder what kind of emotional crap poor Cherone had to be going through during this time to want to do that to his hair... This is the best thing I've heard from that era. I actually wish that whole album were available like this. If you strip the vocals out of Without You the guitar work is genius, very different than anything Ed has gone after before.
@NonStopRocker Piezo pickups. Same way electric acoustics work, unless you mic the sound hole. Uses a crystal in the bridge that vibrates and outputs to an amplifier.
No its not a normal acoustic, but its very much acoustic.
Eddie is first and last a great guitarist. The rock and roll lifestyle may have overshadowed that fact. It's so good to see him represent his art in such a fine and clean way.
Man, that is some great clean playing! That guitar is gorgeous. I often like his clean tones better than his typical tone...in this video you get to see how great of a player he is...no effects of bs to get in the way.
I think this song is absolutely horrible. It's just ackward and doesn't flow at all. I love Eddie and grew up listening to him so I really don't like to rank on him ever, but man.... it actually hurts listening to this garbage. Sorry.
@MoribondAlceste absolutely, those periods are certainly very different from one another. The cherone period is like a lump of steaming shit in your living room compared to roth or hagar. you're abosolutel right.
@MoribondAlceste roth hagar, and who?.....cherone suxxxxxxxxxxx...big mistake...guess eddie was too fucked up on coke to realise what the fuck was goin' on....ohh well....all the best...
@jodonte1 first of all, I asume you dont know much about Eddie, coz during the cherone era he was clean and sober, so he knew what was goin on. second, you dont seem to know much about gary either, coz he is a great singer. If you think cherone sucks then you must think eddie and the guys are stupid, coz they had world class vocaslists auditioning and amog all they chose gary, who not only sang but also wrote stuff on the record. seems like all u can handle is cheesy cars and sex songs.
VH3 may not have had the success of the legendary albums, but I found the lyrics more mature and the songs refreshing. Critics are generallly those who can't perform successfully themselves.
This is very interesting, Eddie sounds great with vocals. Its an interesting fact he actually sang backing in alot of songs anyway its just between Roth/Hagar and Anthony it was hard to make him out.
@MrUSAJAY Eddie didn't kick him out, they just called it quits, they knew it wasn't working out. Eddie said Gary was one of the boys tho, they were good friends, all of them.
For a strange reason, this is depressing 4 me, dont get me wrong, Im a great fan of VH and the performance is just great, but this song, its depressing 4 me

@oceans20113 hey guy, ha! i understand where you coming from...bt fuck man...get over it....it'a about MUSIC...not his personal drama and your being angry....music doesn't care about all of that crap it's simply splashed all over your brain....btw, this album WAS recorded with Michael A. not Wolfie. Michael is doing fine believe me with Chckenfoot, yeah there may be some tears but there not yours....enjoy the tunes..fuck it!
this is the reason you shouldnt do drugs..even though i have, i've never was that fucked up to make choices like freddie, ohh sorry, eddie...what a waste of my listening time...fuck off......check out thunderhead...what an "extreme" load of shit..

@vinniefrench I guess Eddie is enjoying himself. He found a yes man in Cherone. If Eddie said hey stand on your head and sing Cherone would have done it. Cherones lyrics are weak as hell. @vanshipman no you wont be judged for liking van halen 3...you'll be judged for liking david lee roth's strummin with the devil : the southern side of van halen.
amazing, vh3 is really overlooked and it's one of my favourite vh albums. some really delicate and touching hard rock tunes on there and it makes me sad to see it go out of print.
balance had some terrible moments , big fat money , 1 of there worst , seventh seal had no chrus at all, cant stop lovin u was just pleasent, dont tell me , sammy ruined that song with screachin, amsterdam was brilliant , best song easy . not enough was decent , take me back , sammy ruined again , great music terrible screamin, feelin was good bar the screamin again , aftershock seemed just put together , and the dinosor song was pretty damn cool, 3 had some great moments
I think it's a shame that fans didn't respond to this album more positively. This was the most thoughtful album since Fair Warning and in my opinion they could have had many more great albums and songs with Gary. He is, in my opinion, the most talented singer they ever had. And I love Dave and Sam. I believe Sam is man enough to agree with this. Dave will not. The fans just want to relive the glory days of their youth. Not look forward to what is possible within that band. That's where we lose.
azazael09,learn knowledge first before you make a comment. Van halen has a video where he shows you the stainless fretboard production being made on the new custom series.
are you talking about the frets or the fretboard its self? he is right, there is no such thing as a stainless steel fretboard. a fretboard is made of wood. if you are talking about frets, yes you are correct. the closest thing to a stainless steel fretboard is back in the day when kramer guitars still had aluminum necks
Van Halen III will go down 100 years from now as one of those really underrated pieces of work with regards to Ed's playing. This tour and record his tone and songwriting was stellar. Too bad they didn't release the second record with Gary and just give it another shot for the sake of it. The tour sold well...they just got pissed because III only went Gold which by today's standard for a rock act from the 70s is excellent.
I totally agree with you man. Van Halen 3 was really overlooked because of the band member changes, but the guitar work is amazing and Gary has an awesome hard rock voice.
Actually, this from 1998 when he was using the Peavey evh wolfgang which was stocked with "nickel" frets. Only the new ones that just came out have the stainless steel frets...which is cool but not worth the inflated price that evh is selling the new ones for.
They did an awesome job on this song, sounds amazing. The guitar sound eddie's getting (other than his awesome skill) has alot to do with the 12string acoustic simulation preset he's running his guitar through.

I like this tune, Eddie sounds great and Gary feels comfortable. I think his biggest problem was playing and singing with his idols.
Anyway, i disagree that VH III was better than Balance, no way!!!
Don't tell me - there is no match in VH III
Not enough - one of the best VH's song, great melody and i love Bruce Fairbairn producing.
I can't stop loving you was great, with Alex's weak beats. I love that record!!!

@LohanorDuff I would of preferred it be an instrumental album, LOL.

Ed playing a non-vibrato guitar. Pretty cool.
Maybe the new hard-tail bridge offered by "EVH" is a clue to some of his upcoming stuff with Roth.

amazing, vh3 is really overlooked and it's one of my favourite vh albums. some really delicate and touching hard rock tunes on there and it makes me sad to see it go out of print.

I don't care what anybody says, "Fire in the Hole" is classic VH riffage. There are more good spots on that record than Balance.

i agree
balance had some terrible moments , big fat money , 1 of there worst , seventh seal had no chrus at all, cant stop lovin u was just pleasent, dont tell me , sammy ruined that song with screachin, amsterdam was brilliant , best song easy . not enough was decent , take me back , sammy ruined again , great music terrible screamin, feelin was good bar the screamin again , aftershock seemed just put together , and the dinosor song was pretty damn cool, 3 had some great moments

Van halen has a video where he shows you the stainless fretboard production being made on the new custom series.
esptherapper 2 years ago
are you talking about the frets or the fretboard its self? he is right, there is no such thing as a stainless steel fretboard. a fretboard is made of wood. if you are talking about frets, yes you are correct. the closest thing to a stainless steel fretboard is back in the day when kramer guitars still had aluminum necks
naguitarhero 2 years ago
what are you talking about? wolfgang was designed by eddie.....and so was the musicman he made.....

Van Halen 3 was really overlooked because of the band member changes, but the guitar work is amazing and Gary has an awesome hard rock voice.

very very van halen tune.. love it.
comment 4 the clothes:
they have to wear formal pants and shoes, but no rule for the top... kinda weird, coz the camera angle shot whole body..

RELAXXX dumbs ... THOSE VAN HALEN !!! WAS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF THIS BAND ....
bettencourt27 2 years ago 2
Damn!
Good Tune, but is Ed wearing someone else's pants! Damn two inches off is ankle! Pehaps he had to borrow his pants from a Japper (???)
Relax, this recording was done in Japan, the joke qualifies.

Find yourself a used "Peavey" EVH Wolfgang. By far the superior guitar for the price. You can find them on ebay for great prices.

Ван Хален с Гари по моему получился замечательный тандем. III по моему потрясающий альбом. жалко что не пользовался популярностью и Cerone ушел...

полностью с тобой согласен БРАТ!!! на 150 %)))))))))))
bettencourt27 2 years ago
Actually, this from 1998 when he was using the Peavey evh wolfgang which was stocked with "nickel" frets. Only the new ones that just came out have the stainless steel frets...which is cool but not worth the inflated price that evh is selling the new ones for.
5150RDH 2 years ago
I'd rather pay 3 grand for the new Wolfies than the 25 grand for that Franky replica.

and the steel fretboard adds that steel sound to his sound.Gotta love that Wolfgang sound.
esptherapper 2 years ago
A steel fretboard?? lol...
azazael07 2 years ago
No such thing as a steel fretboard mate.
Wolfgangs never ever surpassed the guitar they copied... created by Dudley Gimpel.
azazael09 2 years ago
They did an awesome job on this song, sounds amazing. The guitar sound eddie's getting (other than his awesome skill) has alot to do with the 12string acoustic simulation preset he's running his guitar through.
5150RDH 2 years ago
that guitar is the most amazing sound I've ever heard!
