@edl01reviews Well, it's more like they disliked Umineko's "philosophy"... Honestly, I can see why people would dislike Umineko after Ep 8 or 7, and the Ryukishi's philosophy is the main reason behind it.

@Mettaler oh really? i havent had the chance to play/buy/read past the 6th episode, it really does pain me to hear people don't like the last 2 episodes because so far I think umineko has been a masterpiece :(

@edl01reviews Well, I still think it's awesome, and if you liked all the way to EP6, then odds are you'll like the rest. But it's not that people "disliked it"... They were just expecting one thing eagerly, but got something completely different. In a sense, Umineko is to Higurashi and the Mystery Genre what Metal Gear Solid 2 is to Metal Gear.

@edl01reviews Probably because the anime. The first episode turned me off to the series. If the sound novels/VNs are better I'd consider checking them out.

@Maverynthia well if you couldn't even get past the first episode I doubt you would get past the much longer introduction in the Sound Novels although comparing them to the anime would be like comparing the first three star wars films to the three prequels.

@edl01reviews Well it was various things in the first episode that didn't jive with me. However playing the actual episode 1..yeah I couldn't get past that xD 2 hours or so JUST to get to the island.. and we have to stop at every little thing and have a conversation about it! I started mashing the enter key and was like..not even CTRL can save me.

@Airnadon Actually, I find the manga much better than the VN in some aspects, which surprised me a bit when I got to read the VN. Manga doesn't leave any narration out, even developing some scenes that consist of just a couple of lines in the VN (Kanamori-sensei's life proficiency test is almost nonexistent there).

Then again, the manga only covers the first two stories so far, so the VN is still generally better.
