  • thats cool.

feel free to check out my latest vid.

  • omg.... eargasm

  • Hi I was wondering what tuning you were in

  • haha sounds like a pad on my Korg X50 synth. XD

  • Wow, that is totally like Sigur Ros. Awesome.

  • God damn, that is the creepiest, yet at the same time, the most awesomest sound ever!

  • What are your thoughts on the Ebow?

  • sounds amazing mate, chillin as fuk

  • I got a bow, but this doesnt work on my guitar? ... Any suggestions/thoughts?

  • @kablamman2007 as far as my experience goes: you need a bow and a rosin, without rosin it won't work. then, the second most important thing - the guitar strings - the rougher they are the better - it's nearly impossible to take any sound out of a nylon string for example - the bigger the friction the louder the sound. you can also use it in a different way; ie. check the track calling you by stereochemistry here on youtube :)

  • @kablamman2007 He's probably going through at least a delay pedal (the line6 dl4?), maybe other modulation pedals to get the eerie sound

  • hi i was wondering wat setting were u using cuz i wanna try somthing like that ?

  • im sorry but this sound more like the soundtrack of a vodo-movie than sigur rose:(

  • Listen to Sigur Ros's first abum Von

  • Nice!

  • Could anyone help me? Does anyone what settings are best to get the right sound. Tried with my fuzz pedal, but I can't tell if it's actually working when I'm doing it and I'm getting a note out of it, or if it's all just feedback. Also, is it best to play at the bridge or the neck, or will anywhere do?

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies get one or two delay pedals, and reverbe

  • @DeadWhiteButterflies i actually prefer holding the bow from the bottom if i pass it over the strings as it is the most natural position - just like violin players do. i do it on the acoustic guitar and get any kind of sounds out. you need to put quite some rosin on the bow, tense it properly and use the roughest strings possible as it won't work without friction.

  • does any one no if getting lots of rosin on your pick ups can damage them?

  • Do you "just" use normal chords and then play it with the bow?

  • That's kind of, ya know, awesome. I've always wondered about playing a guitar with a bow!

  • Nice sounds man, very nice!

Quick question - when using a bow on guitar do you still put resin on the bow?! :)

  • that was badass dude. once during a jam session i grabbed my friends bow and started to play my bass with it, it was out of this world lol

  • you are the first person on youtube i have seen with the exact same guitar and guitar color as me=)

  • WOW

  • this is amazing

  • that was epic!

  • Can you use any kind of bow to do this? Ive been SO interested in doing this but am unsure of what kind of how to get...

  • Yup any bow should do. Playing guitar with the bow will destroy it over time so dont spend too much money on the bow

  • @craigmcarthur1 How long to destroy a bow ?

  • @craigmcarthur1 hi can you please tell me what are the effects your using? im very interested in doing it too

    Thank you

  • @napster10000

I've heard you need somthing like dust to put on the bow.....is this true?

  • Comment removed

  • can I have that GT-10 just chilling by the wall there?

  • I cant seem to find this song on itunes.... havent u uploaded it yet.... are you planing too..... i want to listen to this song... every late nightish sounding

  • My band has a few tracks on iTunes, but not this one.

  • @craigmcarthur1 i love ur style, but ur singer needs to be replaced! good luck on finding a new one, as it is definitly worth your while.

  • What brand of bow?

  • do you use coiled strings or flat wound?

  • this is so cool I feel like a boy that just saw his first boner!

  • @jiffinbigles Just had or just saw... Because if you're that excited when you see a boner....

  • do you hav to adjust your bridge to use a bow?

  • Nop

  • still think nigel tuffnells violin solo is better

  • That sound, i could listen to it all day

  • the bow doesn't dirty your guitar?

  • The bow doesnt no, but the rosin on the bow does. You just wipe down your guitar afterards

  • @craigmcarthur1

sry what's wipe down i want to get cuz i soon will start to play with bow and could you pls explain to me - what's wipe down

  • It isnt a product. Just use a dry lint free cloth and wipe down the guitar

  • @craigmcarthur1

    aah yep thank man

  • sounds really awesome! i bought a violin bow but i can't get no vibration at all... how do you make them sound?

  • You need rosin on the bow

  • you have gt-10^^

  • this is class!

  • did you change the action on your guitar at all to play all 6 strings?

  • is there a huge difference between violin bows and cello bows when applied to guitar? I bought a violin bow and i don't even sound 1% as fucking amazing as this.

also did you use the GT6 for any distortion? or is that just the dirt from the blues driver i hear?

  • Holy shit man ...your guitar looks like mine but mines a gibson les paul custom...you should check it out..haha

  • Yeh this guitar is an epiphone les paul standard. I quite like it, few mods to the electronics and it plays great. Its one of my alt tuning guitars. My main guitar is a PRS Singlecut. Went to buy a Gibson and came home with the PRS, suited me better. You can see it in more recent videos of mine

  • This sounds fucking awesome

  • Magic

  • Beautiful guitar dude. And nice playing. Great.

  • That sounds like a horror movie!

  • What're you running on your pedalboard?

  • get a tube amp bro. solid states sound terrible

  • I dont agree with that blanket statement, solid state amps definitely have their place. Check my other videos I have a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Head and a vintage Hiwatt 100 head, so well covered on the tube amp front.

  • @craigmcarthur1

    Definitely agree with that statement.

Solid state amps are 98% of the time terrible sounding, but there are the occasional gems.

  • wow sigur ros and jimmy page, i wanna fuck you

  • I listend to this song while High, and i was in another dimension......

  • @metalmon hahaha nice one bro.

  • nice half-life 2 background music

  • In the still of the night by whitesnake has a guitar played with a bow and it sounds 10x better

  • amazing sounding!

  • awesome!

  • good symphany

  • certainly hear the sigur ros in there

  • this sounds sick

  • fabulous

  • pedobeard

  • LOL hahahahaha garbage

  • hey what pedals are you running to get such and awsome sound?

  • I think 7

  • @craigmcarthur1 yeah but which ones?

  • Damn, that is so cool. Nice.

  • dayummmm then u must be bankeddd

  • what amp do you use??

  • In my main rig I use a Hiwatt 100 Head for clean and a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb for overdrive. I use a Line 6 Flextone II for practicing (and in this video)

  • beautiful guitar. nice skills.

  • hey man, what chords are u playing? do u have to bar every string? i really want to get a bow and play but what effects do u play with? like delay? or!

  • what pickups does ur epiphone have? ive been tring to sing into my pickups but i dont have the right pickups, i know they have to be "active" so do epiphones and such have the type i need? awesome btw

  • Most of them have passive seymour duncan pickups, so singing into them doesnt work too well. Most standard Les Paulswont have ative pickups

  • Man.. if i was in Vietnam back in the day.. this would be the song i would listen to

  • hello...! where did you get the backing track from please ?

  • No backing track

  • @davidrobertbrown lol.. backing track

  • @skunkradioDOTnet ? did i stutter mother fucker ?

  • It's like electric whale music..

    amazing!

  • Great!

  • this is the third video of yours ive seen and wanted to let you know your the best ive seen at this. alot of people are just making noise but your an artist!

  • I feel sorry for your neighbours.

  • do you just use a damp cloth to clean the rosin buildup off the strings?

  • I just you a dry cloth straight afterwards, and then clean the guitar properly when changing the strings

  • Could u plz maybe tell me a couple of ways to get a good but a lil weird sound, or the way u use the bow to get a good sound

Oh yh and maybe a couple of frets I shkd play as well wuld be really gr8

Oh and also do u need all those effects?

    Cheers dude

  • this is so cool dude i cant wait to try this one day hahahaha such an old school technique lovin it!

  • What effects do you use? Iv wanted to get this sort of sound for ages.

  • They are listed in the video description

  • how do you do it? dou you use a effect or just the bow, because I tried to do but i can`t get the sound

  • Its a load of effects and the bow. Make sure you have plenty of rosin on the bow

  • Vypadá jako Pelc z Progres 2 :-)

  • fantastic.

  • Do you have to put Rosin on the guitar strings?

  • cool stuff dude!

check out mine if you like.

  • Awesome video! What is the size of this bow? It's full or 3/4 size?

  • what effects are you using?

  • Do you recommend a violin bow or a cello bow? Also, where'd you get yours from?

  • Dont think it makes much difference to be honest. I bought mine from my local music store

  • @AidyDamage it's better to use a cello bow with a guitar. it's stronger, and holds up better.

  • love your guitar. and sweet pink floyd poster in the back.

  • ho much do bows cost

  • It varies hugely. Mine cost about £30

  • @craigmcarthur1 i found 1 for 15euros,does it matter on the quality?

  • If you were playing a violin or cello then yes i would make a huge difference but on guitar i would say no

  • It doesn't look like the bow is curved enough. did you have trouble with it? Cause that might have been the culprit. It happens to me with my violin.

  • You look like Erik Olofson from Cult Of Luna with that beard and all. Cool playing too.

  • Besides being the same damn chord for two minutes, that was pretty cool.

  • That was awesome!!! what fx proccesors are you using?

  • A pile of single ffects listed in the video description

  • What effects do use on this vid?

  • Video description

  • nice playing!. i was just wondering, is it true that the rosin messes up the pickups and or strings?

  • It does cause mess yup, but nothing wiping down the guitar after use wont solve

  • how much was the bow you bought? I'm going to get one, but don;t know if a cheapish one will withstand the playing...

  • It was about £30 and has lasted for about 2 years. I dont play alot with the bow however. Maybe once a week

  • or seeingeyeful cant grow a beard

  • How does having a beard make me a douche? The fact that you had to pre fix beard with profanity suggests a lack of diction, lack of diction suggests a poor education. So I'm guessing your a 37 year old, single, fat, slightly balding under achiever with nothing better to do with his useless existance but leave stupid comments on youtube videos. And my girlfriend likes my beard.

  • @craigmcarthur1

haha the seeing eyeful got owned

  • @craigmcarthur1 amen. and awesome video too.

  • hes probly twelve man.. that makes him a future 37 year old, single, fat, slightly balding under achiever with nothing better to do with his useless existance but leave stupid comments on youtube videos

  • asshole

  • Really very nice.

  • trippy as fuck. i like your vids.

  • That. Is. Awesome.

Do you think it hurts the strings a lot to do that?

  • @AnneWorld no it dosent, it messes up the bow though >.> like i snapped almost all the hairs on mine.... but you can get some amazing sounds with some creativity and a wah ;D

  • Haha I think I might buy just the bow someday xD

  • thats very interesting. One of my techniques i came up with(other people probably did this before me) is to take a steel slide and run it past the fretboard over the pickups about. Get those really high violin range notes.

  • this is fuckin awesome man!! I think you should try more of this stuff with your band and just a question, do you use just one pedal for the delay or do you combine delays? thanks and keep it up!

  • O)))

  • wow this is amazing!

  • you kind of look like kjartan. nice video

  • fuck fuck fuck awsome

  • I think youre very talented, ut I unfortunately don't like viny future that much :(

  • Oh well cant win them all

  • A ton of effects. Couple of delays, couple of reverbs, chorus, phaser tremolo. They all sort of mush together to create this noise

  • This is legit bro!

  • It sounds like Mogwai fear satan at the beginning lol

  • can i request a full on dist. with delay solo from ya?...such like dazed and confused from jimmy paige?

  • PAGE USED A FULL SIZE CELLO BOW

  • Does the rosin leave a sticky residue on the body and pickups and strings?

  • Just wipe the guitar after use and you wont hv a problem

  • With a guitar like that are you able to stroke the high E string easily?

Because I use a bow on my guitar and it's hard to get it to play the high E string:P

  • You can play other strings with practice using muting techniques

  • its prety nice but why dont you buy a real violin ?

and doesnt the resin ruins your guitar i mean, you basicaly have to trow away the strings in order to ever play it normaly right ?

  • Nop. You simply wipe down the guitar and strings after use. It doesnt cause any problems in my opinion. I dont want a violin.

  • Comment removed

  • does it matter what bow i get to do this

  • Na I wouldnt say so

  • Cool. Thank You.

  • Nice! Sounds like wah.

  • I wonder what kind of sounds will generate on an acoustic/electric guitar...

  • Are you using any delay of sustainer effects? and does using the cello bow wreck your guitar strings and leave the white residue/powder on them?

  • no idea about the delay or sustain, but no the bow does not wreck the strings but it does leave that powder (rosin) on the strings but it's easily wiped off.

  • same amp as i have, amazing isn't it?

  • Space rock?!

  • Cool ..ill try this..go see my clip i use the bow on an acoustic electrique ..

  • that was awesome

  • so does a cello bow sound better on a guitar than a violin bow? what's the difference?

  • no. its just longer, and allows for a more sustaining stroke because of that.

  • violin bows are longer and the hair on them isn't the same width(width as in all of them combined not individual hair) as a cello bow. the cello bow is shorter but has wider surface area with the hair

  • looks like a full sized cello bow or maybe a 3/4 size Violin bow

  • is tht a line 6 flextone amp?

  • Yup its my practice and small gig amp. Its a Line 6 Flextone II i bought years ago. Very decent amp. Alot better than people give it credit for

  • very well done. i do lots of reverb and delay mixed with swelling to try and get a sound like this, but to really go all out you need a bow.

to the guy who posted this, have you heard of Hammock? They're an artist that specializes in this. you should give them a look

  • I havent heard of Hammock, I will check him out. Thanks
