the darker steel is the higher carbon of the two,not the softer!and buying those knives from pakistan you have no idea what kind of steel you are getting!so do not bet your life on it holding up when you need it.
5:44 is real purdy. the next one has a pommel that i've seen on those oriental trinket shop wavy knives but besides the serrations that's not an awful looking knife. 8:57 is really cool looking. 9:55 is simply awesome, that recurved blade. bear and son butterfly knives are alright but i doubt the damascus ones are really damascus, no layers on the spine. i just got my first one and i can't stop fondling and staring at it. regardless of where they're made, i think they're good collectibles.
I have two Pakistani knives, they aren't made of Damascus steel though, they are actually made of surgical steel. But I love those knives!! they are durable,I can shave my arm with them and they hold an edge very well. I am looking forward to the day I can afford a Damascus steel blade from Pakistan.
Oh man! This totally made my night! it didn't even e-mail me on this comment, I just came accross it when responding to another! I havn't laughed this hard in a while! LOL
hi i love cheap knifes too ( but i resell them =3 ) i need i way to test the damascus blade to avoid buying fake items, if you know a way pls let me know ( it be awesome if you make a video testing the blade)
have you ever tried the seller custom.knife on ebay?
i mention them because i have bought like 5 of their knives and they have performed extremely well. They mainly use 01 and the 512 - 1095/15n20 combo.
I don't know if its the cheaper damascus but i don't think so after thinking about it. for one they look more traditional and the materials are very high, which i doubt they would mix with cheap steel. anyone try there knives is real hard use? just cutting and stuff its amazingly too good to be?
They are great for the money. Obviously they don't compare to high quality (and high cost) custom U.S. knives, but if you want to get a couple Damascus blades for show and don't have alot of money it's a great way to go.
i have owned a few pakistan knives and the steel was very poor. these look good, but like you said i don't think the knives are meant to be used as anything other than decorations - similar to many of the decorative katana sets.
Pakistan knives are the most lousy piece of sheep shit there is,We've been getting Pakistan garbage here in the U.S. since the mid 70's,the steel isn't even graded but it's well below the quality of standard non cryo low tempered 420.Flea markets are where you used to see Pakistan knives $2.00-$5.00 a piece before China arrived in the cutlery world but at least China uses graded steel like 420,440A and sometimes 440B in their cheaper knives.Never ever ever never buy Pakistani knives!!!!!
While these look good the quality pales in comparison to customs,I have handled many custom fixed blades most of them made by Chance Priest and the first knife you show is very similar to his S30V bowie and though it's not Damascus it's build quality is by far above the Pakistan knives,as for Damascus these will also be demolished in quality to custom Damascus knives,as far as production users go Pakistan Damascus is good edge holding and they do make great display knives but are not custom.
