  • you know it does have a giant instruction sheet that tells you to put the protective sticker on first. you didn't follow the product's instructions and now you're complaining about it...??

  • that's your fault for not reading the instructions or using the screen protector. so basically your saying its a bad product because you're stupid.

  • Pussy

  • this helped me. NOOB! try placing it correctly until it clicks.

  • DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY

  • it tells u not to slide if off in big words in the directions, i have the same thing.

  • You are so fucking RIGHT!!!! My zoom was purchased last night!! Tried to get the tuner running and it just would not work. Said the hell with it, went to take it off and never the less!!! Got a scratch in my system!!

Hate it!! Doesn't work and will scratch your device!! Couldn't have said it in any better way!!! Great review video thanks, and I kick my ass for not watching this beforehand

  • i have this and i have the exact same problem doesent work just makes it worse. 30$ spent on a piece of crap

  • I even re calibrated with the zoom on, no difference in tracking. I just removed it

  • This attachment distorts the immage coming through the kinect lenses and has a problem tracking body movements. If you are playing a game with an avatar like in Kinect Adventure the avatar will look like it is having a spasm attack even though you are standing completely still, it will not even be able to track your hand movement to select anything big waste of money. Luckily I was very carefull so I did not scratch my device. The lense protectors are impossible to put on even if you want to.

  • I just opened mine out the box d it did exactly what ur saying very poor product reduces sensor recognition and doesnt do anything near what it says it does on the box it actually makes it alot worse and less enjoyable ..IT Has Also Scratched my Kinect arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!im really mad

  • LOL why is it called a zoom if it does the opposite?

  • exact problem here too. and don't listen to anyone else on what they think. scratched my kinect to hell. its not a big technical problem but it does make a great big eyesore. wish i woulda seen this before i bought this piece of crap. IGN can sucks it. tracking is horrible even after calibration.

  • ... the lenses weren't scratched so you shouldn't have made this video, and you probably didn't configure the kinect setting once you FIRST PUT IT ON.

  • God damn thats a big gash! Better go buy a new one!

  • Instructions say never slide the ZOOM on or off the Kinect for that particular reaon. I just bought it and I had very little problems with it.

  • Okay if you dont try to slide it on and rather clip it over at the lenses it wont scratch it. logical enough?

Mine was crap when first used with dance central; couldn't track my hand movements without a lot of effort. I CALIBRATED using the calibration card which comes with Kinect and most Kinect games and now its working fine! Still testing though.

  • Most GASH you have had all year by the sounds of things....

  • it has not worked for me at all. it never tracked my movements. when i calibrate the kinect without the zoom i can clearly see what it is looking at, i can clearly see that my ceiling fan is a ceiling fan. with the zoom on everything is really messed up and everything looks bad, i can not tell my ceiling fan is a ceiling fan it looks more like a blocky object. i cleaned the lenses and it did nothing. personally i do not think this i a good buy. got it at bjs for 1699 after rebate.

  • It also scratched the frame with my kinect and I also noticed that it doesn't scan really well.

  • moan moan moan moan moan

  • ok stop being a baby about it and deal with it it didnt scratch the lens and it is your falt u didnt put the plastic on

  • the same exact thing happen to me on my kinect it scratch it, the first time i used it , and with the zoom on nothing worked well even do i did the calibring and everything, the kinect is better without DO NOT BUY

  • i have a kinect but it is complicated

  • What stupid review get a life u have to calibrate it weirdo

  • its ok but if you have no choice & play area is 5ft then try it, if you don't like it return it within 15 days & get your $30 back, thats what i did.

  • yeah i have this device and i had the same issue. it will scratch the kinet. i just doesnt work well with every game. i give this product a 6/10. not worth the money

  • OMG THAT HAPPENED TO ME.....oh wait oh I PUT THE FUCKING PROTECTIVE PLASTIC ON

!!!!!!!!! read be4 u start moaning because u diddnt follow the manuel

  • Yeah it definitely scratched the kinect sensor plastic. i believe it even got my lenses. it sucks i paid 160+ bucks for my kinect and this thing has damaged it after nit even a day. i will be complaining to nyko. i want a new device. i am a little ocd. i like to keep my things nice looking even if it is 'purely cosmetic '.

  • someone made a good point to me so i retract my last statement and sorry for being an a hole but in my defense i will say that you shouldve checked otherreviews u might wouldve found the solution to your problem but again sorry for being an a hole cause for the simple fact i to wouldve been pretty ticked for somone saying what i said sorry for insulting u as a father also you might probably are a great father least u bought a vieo game to play with ur kids so iam appoligise for being an ass

  • this is exactly what happened with mine!

  • well you did not put the plastic cover

  • does this work i am planning on getting this for christmas. plz reply

  • @NOPOSFINEST Apparently I am not entitled to my opinion thus the numerous complaints about my video below. Anyways, for me it did not work. I placed it above and below my tv along with calibrating the Kinect Sensor again, tracking was better without the Zoom. It also scratched my sensor and while people can complain it was my fault the scratch happened after removing it 1 time. The instructions state to use the protector if you plan to remove the Zoom frequently.

  • @metagamers thank you for your opinion. i feel bad for your kinect though. this is a big flaw for nyko. they should have changed the instructions. i probably wont buy it because i dont want to put a sticker over my kinect. thank you.

  • @NOPOSFINEST Watch IGN review for this. They gave this thing a 10 and said it works

  • this works great you noob

  • I just bought a Kinect and a Zoom for it and mine works perfectly fine. You like the hundreds of others who have given the Zoom are just Technologically Challenged. It's ok. This is God's way of saying you shouldn't handle electronics. That's to include TVs, Video Games, etc. it's alright, maybe you should be Amish.

  • its good but it needs to be 2-4 ft off the ground and under ur tv it does work ive had no issues with it when done correctly but you dear sir have a case of the dumb asses for one u made it out like ur lenses were scratched but ur just a fucking moron i feel srry for ur kids cause there dad is a dumb ass and mine hasnt scratched shit it u and putting urself in retarded situation

  • @warlord19kilo and @FatedScythe777 just cause he sucked at the review or dident have it 2.4 ft off the ground under the television does not mean you can be mean to him. Just cause he did not do this stuff does not mean you go boss him around for not doing that stuff. Think if you were him and someone said your review sucked or your an idiot/moron for not putting it up 2.4 ft under his television! How mean are you guys?

  • Your review sucked dude. All you did was bitch about how it scratched the Kinect. And it didn't even hurt the lenses. I haven't found a review yet that actually talks about the effects the Zoom has on the Kinect.

  • I used the strips and it worked on my kinect and I have tried all the games that I have for kinect.

  • They do give you strips to do just that....prevent scratches!

  • Rubber stoppers ftw!

  • That is why.

  • PS Sorry for bad typing skills, ; p

  • Thanks for the warning I like the idea of thins other people say it works for them and theres plenty of people mentionong the damage doesnt come from the lens adaptors it is a fitting removal thing. NIce to see the 'Ive got nothing better to do than write negative comments on everybody elses videos squad' is still alive. I say thanks for the warning, and if your not happy with the 'review' do your own! Again thanks for the warning.

    Best regards

    Tobi H

  • I bought it.. it's shit turning it back in at walmart tomorrow.. save your cash people seriously.. this product does not work.

  • mine still have the plastic cover never took it off the zoom didnt scratch anything u just heavy handed

  • fake

  • lol. stupid, shoulda put scratch protector on.....

  • Everything nyko makes it sucks

  • Ok sorry to say but in your video you stated that you did not use the screen protector, and then you complain that it scratched the Kinect, I got to ask were you surprised ....? Ok

  • get over yourself and your DEEEP attachment to your devices.

  • i think fairplay to you, although im not bothered about scratching the plastic cover ( im sure the kids or dog will break it anyway) im more keen to find out if it works in a small room!

    all the best.

  • OMG WHAT A DOUCHEBAG! i thought it scratched your lenses, it only scratched the goddamn plastic

  • Hmmmmmmmm I wonder why it COMES WITH A SCREEN PROTECTOR

  • PUT THE SCREEN PROTECTOR ON IF YOU DONT YOUR KINECT GET SCRATC

  • Clearly you did not read the instructions because it tells you to place sticker on kinect sensor, because they were aware of this happening, so don't even try to complain. Plus alot of people say the kinect zoom didn't work, but by looking at other videos, it worked perfectly because they took their time to calibrate it correctly...

  • That is the most pathetic scratch in the world that is nothing and normally something like that would freak me out because I have OCD!

  • So u didnt follow directions as far as putting the protector on wow

  • 1 i dont usually comment on videos that often but it said to put that protective guard on incase you go to remove it and 2 did you make sure the light lit up through the light on the zoom? 3 did you calibrate it after you put it on then turned the system on? and 4 did you have it more then 4 feet off the ground/ i went to the website and it made a bunch of points on there and i have it my rooms big but long so i needed this and it worked

  • I don't understand why people are blaming you for not applying the protectors. The scratch is on the outside people! C'mon! Besides, the film's gonna wear off the first time you detach it anyway! Nyko, you could've put rubber rings on the lenses! I believe China would've made something using only plastic.

  • Ii gt a knect and i never play it there shit it needs to muj space anoying

  • the zoom just blurs and ignores all corners and sides of the lense so it just focusses on the middle part...(supposedly where you should be) and it should work its just shitty and crappy if ur not living in a basement or a 2x2 m room :PP

  • dude same issues here i start hating it because of nyko stupid zoom bad tracking kinect scratching

  • Thank you for being honest

  • you stupid

  • You didn't installed the scratch protector and now you are complaining about a scratch? The instructions are very clear and the risk of scratch is very obvious. I can understand a complain where the is no advice about a possible damage, but in this case there is an advice and also a way to prevent it.

  • WHERE IS THE REVIEW.DOES IT WORK.IS IT WORTH THE MONEY.

  • @paul2662dog It did not work for me. Would not track movements correctly and Kinect was much more responsive without the Zoom.

  • @metagamers did u re tune your kinect

  • @ak47sim123 yes I did, I also placed the Kinect sensor above and below the TV to ensure proper placement.

  • @metagamers Hello, I picked up my kinect yesturday - 99,99$ with 3 games! New! At Future Shop. Do you think it was a great deal?

  • iCarbonsDOTcom make some really nice high quality skins for the Xbox 360. I emailed them about a skin for the Kinect and they said that they releasing one. Just a FYI if you want to use a skin to cover the Kinect sensor and protect it from future damage.

Btw, we got the Zoom on release day and have found that the Kinect works better without it. We should have waited for some reviews but We were sure it would work.

  • I honestly DONT find this review any helpful just saying "this thing scratched my kinect :'("...

  • Ummm, first of all, you have to put the protective sticker on the kinect itself before putting the Zoom on. Says it right in the directions.

It's your own fault for putting it on wrong. Second, you don't slide it off. You just unclip it from the back. Common sense!

  • its a bad product becuase its cheap its made by nyko if it was made by microsoft it would be good

  • Thank you!!!

  • Thanks, you just saved me £24.99!!!! It's a shame Microsoft don't have a similar product yet..

  • This is an F'in retard learn how to take it on and off and that wouldn't happen. And you do reviews on a regular? Not worth watching if there anything like this waste of two minutes of my life, four now cause I had to bitch.

  • @AbstraktJR Wow... you are a moron... sigh... morons make the world go round... also get an English tutor...

  • if you will not remove zoom you don't see the scratches %) so put it on and forget %)

  • how?

  • you used it wrong

  • thats stupid

  • Since so many people seem to have different opinions on this for those of you who do not have this product do you want me to do a giveaway of it? I only have one and the entry is simple, once you get it do your own video review. Thoughts?

  • @metagamers if you still have this i would like to give it a try on my kids xbox. i can post a iphone 4s video review of it.

  • @metagamers Excellent review! Thanks for pointing that flaw out. I've been to a few sites like amazon and newegg to read reviews and they are very mixed like you said. My new xbox slim came in so I swapped my kinect over to the new system. The tracking is much smoother then my elite (of coarse the slim was made to not necessarily out perform but handle things better). With that being said i was wondering if you or everyone else who are having issues with the tracking are using the older system?

  • @metagamers i'll take it

  • Also if a manual says do something like put on to protect the camera...YOU PUT IT ON!

This is like the people who moan that their disc got scratched cause they tilted it while it was running.

  • @Dae19832454 But again it says "If the Zoom will be attached and removed regularly then place the included clear protective sticker over the front of the Kinect sensor as shown in Fig 1." I did not plan to remove so therefore I did not attach the sticker. Manual says to attach it IF the Zoom will be attached and removed regularly.

I'm not mad or upset about it just sharing that 1. it did not work for me and 2. they really should update the product so it does not do damage so easily.

  • @metagamers Still... common sense would probably tell you to maybe use it in case. If it can damage it by moving it on and off regularly then it can scratch it the first time. I think this review is a little harsh.

  • @Dae19832454 i used the stupid piece of plastic! it still scratched my kinect! piece of shit product that doesn't work!

  • @souls666 Ive been looking at their track record...console coolers than cause fires. AVOID!

  • @Dae19832454 DAMN STRAIGHT!!!! lol :D

  • @Dae19832454 The damage is on the outside, and not the lens... imagine what would it do to the sticker even if you put it on... is it gonna wear off!?

  • @Dae19832454 It doesnt happen with a PS3!

  • ya but ps3 is gay

  • IGN gave it 10/10............

  • I had the same problem and it did not damage my censor.

  • damn it...i wanted one.

  • They should probably soften up those lenses and offer more protection than just that film, but really... The fact that your kinect is scratched is your fault. Furthermore, you purchased this for your kids stepping out of frame, not because you have too small of a space to use the kinect in...

So you give the product a bad review for not fixing an issue that it was never designed to fix and for scratching your kinect when you didn't use the protection it provided you. Pretty terrible...

  • @blackorb1456 Regardless of why I bought it the fact is it still did not work even when I tried it. Also, and I quote from the instruction manual "If the Zoom will be attached and removed regularly then place the included clear protective sticker over the front of the Kinect sensor as shown in Fig 1. The Protective sticker will prevent potential markings on the front surface of the Kinect". Continued in next post...

  • @blackorb1456 The point is the manual clearly states to use the film IF you plan to remove regularly. I planned to put the zoom on and leave it on but once I found out it did not work I removed it once and the damage was done. They either need to 1) redesign with a soft foam around the lenses or 2) edit the manual to state the film is ALWAYS required otherwise you run the risk of damage. A well designed product should 1) work flawlessly & 2) not do damage under normal use. The Zoom does neither

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you, I did cancel my pre-order at least from now Regards

  • Gees, that is horrible. I was thinking about getting one, but read some other reviews about issues with it. Thanks for the review, you saved me some grief.

  • It didn't scratch mine lol (I put the protector on) but it can't track me at all DX now I gotta dig up my receipt!

  • I had one for 2 days then returned it. Did not work. Rendered Kinect useless. I don't think it scratched my Kinect.

  • It sucks I knew I should of waited for the reviews

  • Thanks for the honest review!

  • they should put rubber lining or at least microfiber lining on the inside of the lenses to be easy on the kinect sensor

  • @agent475 agreed, I also made that suggeston to Nyko on their twitter feed

  • Wow,,,,, I don't really care about the scratching part but the not tracking part ,, damn . And I was looking forward in purchasing this bad boy.

  • Wow, I was actually considering getting this, guess not now
