  • Thank god i watched this video even tho i learned this in like 4th grade i forgot and not i no thanks :)

  • i have a test on 2/21/2012 and does this really work im in 5th grade and these fraactionz are a pain in the but

  • @RedHawkProductionz Yes, this method works, but still check to see if you need to simplify at the end; this is actually a technique used in Vedic math and is reliable.

  • thanks this helped alot :)

  • jenius

  • just to make a point, 22/15 and 1+7/15 are two ways of writing the same thing, putting it in a mixed number notation doesnt actually make it any simpler

  • Can it be both improper and mixed number? Is that kind of the same answer? Or should you put both just in case?

  • @10000CookiesforPanda To simplify completely, you cannot have a mixed number with the fraction part being an improper fraction.

  • 1 + 7/15 notation should be more clear than 1 7/5

  • is it the same for subtracting fractions ?

  • @abbzney101 basically--watch my vid on Subtracting Fractions With Unlike Denoms...

  • we just look for the low common multiple (LMC) like (LCM) like the lmc for 3 n 5 is 15 cuz look

    3,6,9,12,15,18,...

5,10,15,20,....see there are 2 same numbers ----> 15 so 15 is the dinominator

for numerator we just do this

    2/3 we times(x) 3 by 5 = 15 and do the same to the numer\tor which is 10

and thn for 4/5 we times(x) 5 by 3 which is 15 thats the dinominator btw, and the numerator we d the same so 4 times(x) 3 = 12

and then at the end we just add them like 10+12= 22 .......22/15 dune.

  • how did you get the 7? What you mean by left over >?

  • Good shortcut! I like this method.

  • well um you helped me in one part.... but now... how do i subtract!?! XD darn...

  • wut if there are sum whole numbers? i tried using this method to do 3 1\3+2 4\11 but im having trouble :\

  • @LEELISA1014 you must first convert the mixed numbers to improper fractions for this method to work

  • i dk how other countries learn fractions but this is what i was taught since primary school. IMO it is a common way

  • It only when when the denominator is 5

  • how about 3/6 + 4/10? it does not work in all number

  • @shangshangcute it should work with all proper and improper fractions. But here, you can simplify both fractions first, because both fractions have even numbers. So it becomes 1/2 + 2/5. Now, when you work out the problem, you will not have to simplify at the end. Your answer will be 9/10. Try it.

  • @shangshangcute i think its 6/30

  • @shangshangcute i think its 6/30

  • @shangshangcute then it will be 3/6=30/60 + 4/10 will be 24/60 then 30/60+24/60=24/60

this is how we do it at my school in the 6 klas

  • This works all the time?

  • @zane757 it should

  • This just made my life easier

  • @captianamazing1 great...

  • It's easier for fractions with smaller numbers.

  • this helps me alto! this is way easier !

  • I love you Northstar!

  • I think it was very good.Nothing was bad about it.

  • AWSOME VID!!!!!!!

  • cool! The quality is also good.

  • Thanks so much for this feedback. It is hard to see how it looks on the other end.

  • Thank you! Such an easy method compared to what I was taught.
