It would be great if we found out that the Enterprise didn't really belong to Kirk . . . it was his dad's and Scotty forced him to take it out for a spin. Then, after heading back home after parking the Enterprise, he finds out that someone else has been driving it, goes nuts and kicks it out of spacedock into the planet Earth. Kirk: "What'd I do?" Scotty: "You killed the ship."

Clear effects because I heard they shot the FX in 70mm or 65mm and not the standard 35mm as in other films like Star Wars. (I'm a SW fan).

2001 and CE3K also were done this way. Thanks to Douglas Trumbell.

Plus they were models and models were 'real'.
