  • good good

  • I never thought anyone could do that song justice with a cover, Lennon's original is so amazing.

personally I prefer Lennon's, but this is just amazing. In my opinion the best song green day has done, no offence to their own songs or anything I just think this is one of lennon's best and there is no embaressment in not being as good as the legendary john lennon.

  • This new version from Green Day sounds better. Lennon could do better when singing this song

  • wow! this is an excelent cover of an even more excellent song. Great work!

  • hi anyone want to chat

    this video was good TQ

  • aek.athens.fc.the.best.team.ever

  • overproduced, sadly

  • Green Day did a very great job with this song. However, some songs are just meant to be sung by the original artist. This is one of those songs... But, as some of you had said, it is a way to get the message across to todays generation.

  • I'd agree that since Green Day has alot of listeners that it's good to get John's message across to a wider and newer audience.

BUT the meaning of this song really doesn't go too well with the genocide in Sudan. Lennon's words were much more about industrial and socialized countries (As he talks about 20 odd years of schooling).

  • I couldn't agree with you more!

  • fuck umans

  • the original seems better to me but greenday did a pretty impressive job with such a powerful yet reminiscent song.

  • John Lennon's version is better

  • You people who argue about whether or not Green Day "deserves" to cover this song make me laugh.

The band is not the fucking point, the message of the video is.

    Idiots.

  • i'm from poland and i very like group Green Day.!

  • Go Green Day! John Lennon is proud when you send the message on and on.

    Thank you.

  • Che bella canzone! Grazie John Lennon, grazie Green Day!

  • I always thought this song was about kids getting picked on at school

  • isn't this song originally about child abuse? I mean, just listening to the lyrics...

  • its about darfur, sudan and the genocide thats going on there not racism u dumb ass the people r talking about wats goin on over there

  • AMERICA, THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU ... SOONER THAT you could EVER IMAGINE.

    AMERICABLOG*com

  • wow youre retarded they did swear just the person put up a censored version

  • THIS SONG IS SPEAKING ABOUT THE *PIG BROTHER*'s SCARY SATANIC SYSTEM HANGING ON IN UK,USA and FRIENDS...NOT SPEAKING ABOUT DARFUR MY DEAR MASTER's PUPPETS(Greed day...or something like that)...

  • Green Day is the greatest band in the world and they made a very good cover.

  • i love lennon, and i like green day, and i consider that's good they worry about racism and other stuff, buuuuuut: THIS SONG IS ABSOLUTLY NOT RELATED TO THE TOPIC, my interpretation is how society make you feel small and become working class, the hero who build cities,,,

    RIP JOHN WISTON LENNON (1940.1980)

  • in the year of 1970 John Lennon could give his songs every type of sound which he likes. If he make it as a full folk protest song - this is how how he wanted it be. Not with hard guitars at the end

  • It's their interpretation of the song. Pretty sure John would have wanted them to make it the way THEY wanted it to be.

  • I think this video is great! It's sending a message how bad the world ignore the violence that the "black" people is getting. They get kicked in their stomachs. They are just like the rest of us!

  • great!

  • i dont understand how this videos topic connected with the issue of lennons working class hero..

  • well it foesnt really but theres no point in doing a cover and not put your own interpretation on it. tbh im not really into this version but it would of been silly to mkae it like lennons. theres only one john lennon lol

  • I like the way they bring the the key down to the original Lennon version at the end. I hope as Lennon hoped that one day soon there will be peace in Africa.

  • The most worthwhile thing this band has done, as far as I'm aware. I'm thankful for their effort.

    Thanks for posting, too.

  • the best

  • who cares who sings it.

just listen to the powerful lyrics.

    RIP- John Lennon

    Rock ON GREEN DAY!!!

  • what fucking rubbish you say here??? this is about the working class, it's not for anyone... do you fucking even know what this "working class' is??? oh GOD! you think that working class is anyone who works????

  • and the video is irrelevant to the subject, the song doesnt mean refugee

  • The video is about racism, thats it wrong! Not about refugee.

  • is this song brought out on album? if so, could anyone tell me what album?

  • Best Clip

  • dis song got meaning dude..

  • i think this one is better than lennons sorry man

  • ok so a cover is never as good as an origional but fuck is this one good.

good job green day i luvv u!!!

  • what album is this track on??

  • Instant Karma Amnesty International

  • It was a single

  • I think Lennon would like this ,it`s a good Tribute to John and still a good message for Freedom,Peace and human rights.................

  • far from john's.

i doubt weather they get the meaning of the song.

this song is about everyone,u and me

  • green day and working class of hero is the best verision this song

  • This is a great cover and great song.

Also, the message it is showing is a big issue.

    Great Video in all ways..

  • I gotta admit this isn't a bad cover, much better than The Academy Is... cover, that one is awful haha

  • gay

john lennon does it wayy better

  • *darfur i meant

  • lolz0rkekbur

    well said mate

they did this extremly well, a great tribute to Lennon and a real eye opener to whats happening in darfurr

  • 2 things one green day is a great band and this song even touched my friend and he's like into heavy metal and that. Also Green day's spreading a good message here

  • Great job gd!!

  • RIP JOHN LENNON

  • love the song and the messages it holds, but cant understand why they have too edit out the f word when the nasty crimes that have been commited to these poor people (which shouldnt be swept under the carpet)are fully explicit. Its a bit of a condratiction you tube!!!!

  • i don't really like this band, but this is a good cover

  • Why would you hate Green Day for making a cover of John Lennon's song? Clearly they respect the man alot, and they made a cover of his song to help spread peace, as far as I know thats what John Lennonw was about, he would be proud if he saw this.

Not to mention the cover is extremely well done, maybe you'll notice if you play the song without the video.

  • I don't know... Just

    JOHN LENNON.

  • John Lennon's cover in my personal opinion is better as it has a simpler way- yet I still enjoy this as it appeals to others. A lot of my friends started listening to more of Lennon's stuff after hearing the lyrics within this- and also become more active with fights such as Darfur because of it.

  • Isn't Lennon's the original?

It is not a cover if it is the original.

  • I hate it when people hear a cover and dont know who really wrote it , and who diserves the credit. like that target commercial and it has hello goodbye and people are always like oh I love that target commercial song.

but I think both the songs are good, the John lennons way is clear and simple. but the green day version has more of an appeal to todays generation. but I like the john Lennons version better

  • .greenday. John lennons just slurring the words and talking, billie singing, and he looks awesome

  • You are actually a fucking idiot.

"Billie singing, and he looks awesome"

What the fuck does how he looks have to do with how good or bad the cover is. I'm actually lost for words to describe how fucking stupid that statement makes you sound.

  • its not about being a cover but the words thats all just listen or is that to hard for some of u.

  • I'm like, the biggest John Lennon fan ever man. I'm not a big Green Day fan, but this isn't that bad of a cover.

  • come on guys....it's just a cover(and i think billy did a good job)...in my opinion with this cover they show their love to this song and to john....don't hate them come'on thats disrespectful.

  • here here

  • LOL Suadan

  • It's just another version of another song. It will happen forever and often times the current generation never knows when they hear a cover. It's stupid to argue about better or worse. Regardless of that, it's a respectable song to cover. It's a powerful song!

  • Green Day did a realllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goooodddddddddd job! So shut up! If you don´t like it than don´t watch it! peace and freedom...

  • wow billie joe looks hot in this video!

    i love him <3

  • is it working class her something to fear or is something to be dam green day change the lyrics thats not cool

  • its working "class hero is something to be."

  • the video is kinda misleading, perhaps o it wouldn't attract much controversy. Cuz what John Lennon meant was everybody, the song is about everybody basically, that's how things are run.

  • omg! green day didn't ruin it, they made it so much better.. i think they did a good job, green day are the best !<3

  • you just help to prove my point. I rest my case.

  • "green day" didn't ruin it, they made it the way they thought it should be.

If you don't like it, get over it.

  • i wish they wouldnt have done this. Its John Lennons song and that fucking bastard chapman can burn in hell piece of shit

  • i agree lennon was great but this was a cove to spread a mesage i think they did a great job just not as good as lennon u have to give then that

  • No way near as good as the original but still a good cover.

I congratulate Green Day for bringing this fantastic song to a new generation.

  • WHY SHOULDN'T they do that???? It's where the shit is happening, as we write... but no one gives a damn. I guess there's no so much oil in that country...

  • Nice cover, but changed the original message entirely with the whole dafur thing.

  • This is an awesome cover song by Greenday.

    Long Live Lennon

    Save Darfur

  • Obama for president for equal people..thank you

  • this is a verry good cover. respect .

  • This is a great cover.Personally I love the original better, something about John Lennon's voice,it just sends shivers down my spine. But Green Day did an awesome job.

  • Black & white is beautiful.

This song is just damn true.

  • People are dyeing all around the world. Nevertheless, you feel you need to bleep out the word "fuck". Who ever dyed from saying the word "fuck"? No one. Who is dyeing now in Iraq, Iran, Georgia, Africa, Tibet, and many other places? Whom are you saving by bleeping out the word "fuck"? I wish we spent that much effort that we do bleeping out the word "fuck" and protecting and help the lives of the people of the world who are suffering.

  • I'll tell you who died because of the word fuck. People are ignorant => people swear at each other => people get mad at each other => people hate each other => people start fights and even wars. So you see, words are important as well. They can do much more harm than actual physical violence.

  • ┏┓ ┏┓ ┣┓ ┃┃ ♥copy and

    ┗┫ ┃ ┣┛ ┏━━┻┃paste if you ┃ ┗━━━┛ ┃ ┣━━┃┃love this song !♥

  • John Lennon would be so proud of them!! Fantastic cover!

  • They don't do this cover to seem better than Lennon... It's just a tribute to him. Understand that.

    Good song btw. :)

  • i cryed the first time i heard this song by green day its so good!

  • this video just breaks your heart.. hearing about the horrific things that's happening..

  • with all due respect to john lennon i thnik that this is better then the origanol

  • john lennon is a legend

way more than green day will ever be

    just watch...

  • well duh...that statement doesn't need stating

  • i love the original but green day puts a new twist on it i love this song thanks to john lennon and every one in green day for showing everyone what the real world is like mainely john lennon for creating this song but green day for putting real problems in it

  • A very good Cover !

  • i prefere the original....J.L.

  • I lUV ThiS SonG!!! =]...thanks for uploading)))

  • great cover!!!

  • es una gran cancion

  • That s very SAD

  • ♥Copy ♥♥And ♥♥♥Paste ♥♥♥♥If ♥♥♥♥♥You ♥♥♥♥♥♥Love ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Green ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Day ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥songs ♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥Keep ♥♥♥♥This ♥♥♥Chain ♥♥Alive
  • I luv this video, it shows the cruel side of world. Respect to Green day.

They try to save the world.

  • i like john lennons version of it better but what am i to say at least you know they are fighting for freedom and thats what counts these days

  • i love this song and i sympathize with the plight of these people, but what does this lennon song have to do with anything going on in the video. The imagery just doesn't fit

  • yeah I know Darfur and the vid aren't related at all.

  • i love this song....:)

  • thats awesome they care

  • whoever made this vid doesnt understand the fucking song

  • maybe you dont understand...

  • woo hooo

  • great song, great vid.

  • luv greenday..........

  • awesome jeah

  • the band members look like hobos except 4 billie but i love their music

  • This is one of the BEST songs out there. Combining excellent lyrics with simplicity.

  • BillIE --'

  • It's a good cover, but nothing can top John Lennon...

  • I don't know

I think Lennon's version makes you feel helpless and melo (which is just Lennon, or how people in the UK feel at that time)

Green Day sounds very angry and pissed off about it (which is just being punk).

  • it´s a version, and punk, ofcourse they´re puk

  • billy only want is freedom. if you connect all their songs together, you will know the life of saint jimmy, whoes a freedom fighter, who just want freedom

  • You're right.Billy wants freedom,such like John.

  • yea but freedom from establishment and comformity not a genocide, I mean the genocide is bad and should be stopped, but it has nothing to do with this song, for crying out loud, Lennon died in 1980.

  • does it matter?

they're using it to spread a message of peace.

That's what Lennon was all about.

  • theyre both good though, but john lennon's version is definetely better. good that they left the last line for john lennon. though i dont think lennon was singing about ethnic cleansing in darfur or something, so i dont think this video fits well

  • for every people a song means diffents thing, people translates the songs with that they have live, obviously billy is hearing in this songs the need to see that we all are equal in this world, no matter the color or the nationality

  • this version is amazing(ofc nothing beats the original but thats the deal with ever song). Its good to see my fav band puting so much feeling into a song by such a great man as Lennon. And the solo is just priceless(it isnt hard but it just comes at the right time and adds to the general feeling).Just a beautifull song and cover

  • I prefer John Lennon's voice.

  • green day rulez this song is fucking awesome

  • 120% rite!

  • thanks for uploading man, it was great.

    Green Day Rocks

    John Lennon Cool

    Believe it!!!!!

  • Green Day's version is a cover of John Lennons song.

  • all is true, all true

  • best music vid ever! it have a meaning. but ozzy's voice it more powerful. greenday have done MUCH better than this.

  • and I really love john lennon also

  • perhaps they were all right

  • I love the end where GD don't sing at all and leave only John Lennon's voice!!

  • you think I have not heard the original version of the song?

  • To make more money, FOR A CAUSE DIPSHIT!

  • I love it too!

  • i hope that people learn something from this video. it is really insightful and makes light of a very real and disturbing problem that people think never happens because it isnt happening to them. a really well done video.

  • Love the song, GD rock

  • An amazing, impactful video that more people need to see.

  • AMAZING this video reflect a big problem which some countries don´t want to see.

Green Day & John Lenon 4ever

sry fr my english, im spanish

  • the u.s don't care about Darfur, simply because the have no oil.

  • agree with that

  • The video was made to raise awareness for the genocide that has been going on in Darfur since 2004/2005. The video isn't about the working class, it's not about how poor Africa is. It is about the injustice that's going on there, about the hatred equivalent to Pol Pot or Hitler or any like those and North America has been so preoccupied by the war that nobody gives proper attention to the greater tragedy that was going on there

  • ALL OF IT IS TRUE

  • Great video, but it'd be allot better if there wasn't so much talking during the song.

  • this is so sad and inspirational 2:29-2:36 *sniff*

  • this song... is truly inspirational

  • The point of covering a song is to make it some what your own, that being said, im pretty sure they were taking the most recent actions against extremists like people who kill for ethical cleansing and saying thats cruel to humanity, you have to get the message not just take the lyrics, the message is a working class person is the same as some one who is CEO of a major corporation, thats the message

  • the video is great , the song is great .but ,why is there no white guy in it ?don't think the majority of the black ppl are working class heroes .how about some chinese ?it's a cheap interpretation of the song ,has no power ,voice is covered by instruments ,a good band can record a a song cover like this one in 1 day .

  • You're right: also occidental men are working class hero, not only chinese...

  • i really love this song and video i think its sad but if you look at 1.31 to 1.33 you can se Tré with a hilarius face but i dont know why to put someting that unserius into something that seruis but it made me smile a little i cant help it Tré got so funny faces but i like Billie Joe the most ;)

  • Tre went to clown college sometime before he got famous so that explains his crazy antics

  • I was surprised you started replying to me. Did I not make my original comment to Peglol96? My bad if I didn't.

  • If I'm honest, I don't really know what I'm talking about now. I only said my original comment because it annoyed me that you can be thumbed up for a comment saying only Indians are truly American, but if you told any other ethnic minority they weren't a true American, people would be all over you about it.

  • I figure if you live in American, you're American and if you live in Britain, you're British. They're not races, they're countries and if you're a citizen of that country, you should count as a real-whatever. It's not like I'm trying to be too politically correct either. If you're African, and you have a child with someone from Iraq, and your child is raised in France, would they really be French? If not, what would they be? Just call people by the country they live in. It's simpler.
