  • bondhu NOT bandhu biral NOT biraal bhaluk NOT baluk banor NOT bandar bhut NOT bhuta jol NOT jal (Although we Bangladeshis prefer "pani" instead.) gorom dudh NOT garam dudha (Learn the "d" phonetic, which in this case is the European way.) It's gorom!! bajar NOT bazaar (Bazaar is in English.) upore NOT upare Gai?? That's a female cow! Goru = cow. Namaskar is Hindi for Nomoshkar in Bengali and it's a Hindu greeting. We Muslims don't say that. ghash NOT ghas chad NOT chand shurjo NOT surya
  • @shinigamiasuka What happened to all my enters?

  • Corrections of some of the words she's got wrong Baluk= Valuk Bandar = Baandor Bhuta ??? wtf i guess = Vut Garam= Gorom Upare = Uporey Jal = (Paani in bangladesh) except few hindus and calcutta Gai= Female Cow Goru= Cow Shar = Male cow Bolod = A cow without any balls or simply Dumb A*s Namaskar = Nomoshkar Is it just me or r u trying to make Bengali sound more like Hindi.. Sorry but this video is very misinformative... Chand = Is not pronounced CHAND its pronounced CHAD Surja= Shurjo
  • @SonOfBangali||||| Vut na, bolun bhut.

  • some of the bengali words are like wrong Lol...

ermmm yh we call a cat 'billay' not 'biraal'...

Which bengali dialect are you speaking in?

  • @meskiiniee dude wtf, biraal is the proper bangla and people in villages says billay...lolz..

  • i think you are seriously mixing up hindi and bengali words! for example, monkey is bandar in hindi, but baandor in bengali!

  • Once again please avoid mixing Different dialects.

Do not say : " kail ami tomar ghore bhat kheyechilum" ( I dined at your place yesterday).(kail is the bangladeshi dialect for tomorrow whereas -chilum for past tense is a marked west bengali(ghoti) word.)

  • I wanna find out which moron posted this video

As a native speaker of Bengali i advise any learner to avoid it or else people will just not cease laughing.

    Pronunciation is laughable at best.

bandor ( not pronounced as Bandar) is pronounced either with a nasal tone (like monsieur; the n is nasalized) or in Bangladesh as simply bador.

Biraal is really pronounced like Beral (e like in Pet, r like trilled with front of your tongue touching the lower teeth)

Baluk is a nonsense. it is Bhaluk

  • I learnt "bari" "jal" and "rasta" :D

  • tumi eckta kutta bachha.

  • bhuta woooooooooooooo

  • Hello,Nice try!! try my videos to learn Bengali.

  • If you send me 10$ I will make a cd with all these learn bengali videos that I made plus more that I never uploaded here.

  • Please do not try to learn Bangla through this video. The lady has pronounced most of the words incorrectly!

  • khoob kharap!

  • very poor pronunciation :/

  • Ami Tumarae Khortham Bandii Boga

  • Ami Tumarae Khortham Bandii Boga

  • never heard jol before... water is paani.

  • Thats a great video. My 13 month old was actually repeating some words. :D Thank you for making this video.

  • lol!!! crazy

  • how you say cookie monster(:

  • the pronounciation aint perfect somethings are being pronounced wrong.. for eg its BHALLOOK n not balook n its bandor(n is almost silent) n not bandar nd its opore n nt upare.Namaskar is hindi, in bengali its namashkar and its ghaash nt ghaas. n its shurjo nt surja. dis may confuse people, any way nice try

  • It might be that way for you. But there are many types of Bengali. My husband is Bengali and I know many Bengali people and they all have different ways of saying things. I believe you are probably right to many. The fact is, Bengali people actually have different accents and they don't pronounce things right. (Just like Americans when speaking English.) Anyways, When I go to Navadvip most people can understand what I say and that's the main point. Thanks for your critique.

  • okay thats a different reasoning, could be.. but like i said before nice try and as long as people comprehend its ok.. : )

  • goroo is cow, paani is also water and batash is wind

  • Goru is Cow

    Jol/Paani is Water

    Batash/Hawa is Wind

Some words differ in East Bengal and West Bengal...but both can be easily understood.

  • Thank you 9uru9ulabkhatri

  • @9uru9ulabkhatri

I was wondering about the differences between the Bengali spoken in Kolkatta versus the Bengali spoken in Dhaka, and you have just answered some of my questions...

  • No! It's not weird! It's pretty cool.

Really good know some words in bengali.

Boi (book) is really fun, because in portuguese it means "ox"... XD

    Hugs from Brazil!

    Tati

  • Hugs!

  • @tativiana tati means shit in my language lol

  • @tativiana Hey Learning that Boi means Ox in Brazil is also helpful for me because I like to look for videos with BOI :-) (oxen)

  • omg.....the video is weird!!! xDDDD

  • I actually agree, most childrens learning videos are weird too.

  • I learnt a couple words by someone, i knew that dudha means milk, i also learned a couple of animals although cow and cat was diffrent the way i learned it.

  • Yes ( different spellings of milk are dudha or dudh or doodh )

Can you share how you say cow and cat??

  • I was told that cow was Goru and cat was Bilay. Perhaps it's a different dialect.

  • I have also heard Goru. There are different kinds of Bengali indeed! The wriiten Bengali is different than spoken Bengali also! Some Bengali is slang and some is very proper. There is Sadhu bhasa which is a really high class Bangla bhasa. Anyhow I am trying to aim for spoken Bangla in these videos. The words that people actually use. My husband who is Bengali helps me sometimes. I think we can all help each other!! I will ask my husband about Goru and Bilay! Thank you!

  • My pleasure.

  • My husband said "Biraal" means cat and not "bilay" . He sad Goru is the general term for cow and Gai is the female word for Cow. (everyone take note!! :-)

  • Biraal= Cat = Bilai

    Bangladeshi's say Bilai

    Indians say Biraal

  • Thanks for the tips

  • No. Every Bangladeshi I've met says Biral. I've never heard of Bilai

  • @navadvipstreet there are many dialects of the Bengali language out of which one is accepted as a standard form. Unfortunately your pronunciations and english equivalent spellings are incorrect in many cases. While your effort is indeed much appreciated, it would be great if you could rectify these errors and come up with a correct version!

  • i say water as pani

  • Yes, pani is originally Hindi.

  • I share your dismay about Rosetta Stone, but BYKI does have a Bengali program (it's the one I'm using). Some of their pronounciations are a bit different than the ones used here.

  • Does it work for Macs?

  • I just checked - it looks like it's only Windows.
