OH I SEE! He nudges the other guy's shinai to check his grip and you can see that the other hand has no grip on it. That's how he confirmed on whether or not he could disarm him. SMART
Judging by the crowd and the kenshi's general stance and technique, I'm pretty sure these guys are both above shodan. So while maybe the kenshi who got disarmed was careless the kenshi that disarmed him still made an amazing move. I challenge any body talking trash to try and disarm someone of that level.
you can even challenge any body taling trash to try and disarm someone at all! it's much harder than it looks, even against someone who's totaly unexperienced.
I guess the guy didn't pay attention during his first day at kendo school. That's when they teach you to grip the stupid stick to keep it from flying out of your damn hands.
well, my kendo class is $100 per month. plus you can start and stop at any time. my shinai was $25.
on difficulty, i was surprised. i thought i was going to be working on forms or something for weeks but i the second i signed up, sensei gave me a shinai and i joined the rest of the class. i was going right into drills and practices with other people, much different than i thought i was gonna do. it's quite fun and easy once you get the hang of it. but your legs will feel like crap
yes and no. the full kendo equipement (kendogi, hakama, full armour and shinai) is exensive (Though you only have to buy a shinai, kendogi and hakama to beggin with, which is less expensive). the lessons aren't difficult if you're motivated. if you aren't you might get sick of it.
@tetrasa1 shinai cost from $10 - $40 depending on what style shinai you like, (i suggest always having 3 of your favorite (incase one breaks in training) bogu (or the armor) cost from $300-$1,500 and lessons can cost anywhere from $60-120 (reasonably) a month depending on where you are
@maggot6460 thanks ive actually been going for a year now, and already went through 2 shinais. first 1 was cheap, and secons lasted me till last week. im so glad i started
@tetrasa1 glad your enjoying kendo, i personally enjoy iaido more ( i study both muso jikiden eishen ryu and niten ryu) but i still enjoy kendo we just dont have formal classes though since only a few people participate we just work together after iaido and kenjutsu
I did this movement 2 weeks ago. I was fighting against a senpai(and he's too damn fast) and I just made a "double harai" and his shinai went flying against a wall. Hahaha...
all 4 of you guys are incompetent, watch the guys hands, he let go.....has nothing to do with power the guy just sucked, no way you can do that when a person had grip.

He let go for a second. This kind of thing is actually very uncommon.

@narutoxninja37 it's too long! kodachi would do better, it's shorter :D
It would be funny watching someone preforming seppuku with a bamboo sword.

you can score off of it, but you have to react/ attack before the judges call yame! (Spelling?)
