Falklands war. The USconsidered a successful counter-invasion by the British to be 'a military impossibility'. Brits outnumbered 3-1.

British army may not have the best weapons/resources/man power, may often be let down by their senior command & politicians - i.e. Basra. But they are the most professional army in the world, the most disciplined. Face it, if your country needed peace keepers, or if you had to choose 1 ally to get a job done [after the US, of course], if you faced a terrorist/hostage situation, or needed training, who would you choose? British Forces are the template for all forces.
