People don't seem to realize that there are several kinds of "hippies" I happened to be a "river" hippie from Memphis, but there are many, kinds of people. The term hippie replaced "beatnik" which is what my dad was..a simple way of life promoting, peace, the pursuit of happiness and LOVE! The theatre of politics will never change, but I think we gave it the best punch in the arm Ever! And yes this great vinyl song makes me want to smoke a doobie to this day!! Rock on - never give up!
You get a clue.... You can hear the pitch is lower. Thats because its running just a bit too slow. It doesnt change anything about the quality or awsomeness of the song, its just something I noticed while listening this.
Great tune, thanks for posting. Brings back memories hearing this song and the lack of good quality sound vinyl possessed. Yes, I remember phonographs.
i LOVE this song, hippie music is the BEST!! i'm a teenager and the music my friends listen ti FAILS...down with rap!!!! some of it's okay but THIS is what music REALLY is ^-^. music 30's and down in art, 40's is kinda slow for my taste but AWESOME!, 50's i love ^-^, 60's AMAYZING, 70's STILL AWESOME, and the only thing worse than 80's music is 90's music... and don't get me started on todays >.<
@neurogirl11 It's like anyone who wants to hear real music has to go to the 70's I was 16 in 1970 My son who is 23 loves it too. Either you have the soul of a hippie or you just know good music...... or both! : )
@neurogirl11 I like 50's, 60's, 70's and 90's. Thats all Heck the Kurt Cobain renewed Neil Young's Vows. Kurt was the realist guy we've had since 70's so don't totally block out the 90's. Their is a lot of good stuff to come out at least early 90's. Their lyrics then meant something too. Just listen to Alice in Chains - Down In A Hole or Nirvana's song You know you're right. Some dark heavy songs. At Least they had meaning back then unlike now...
Amen dude totally right other 90's bands include metallica(yes they we still going) soundgarden, stone temple pilots, nirvana, rage against the machine, oasis and many others, all among my favourites, but yeah totally agree with you on skipping the 80's lol
I just sent this video to a friend of my son's whose thinking of cutting his hair today. He has the most beautiful long natural curley hair and it would be a mortal sin to cut it. To my mind being an old hippie (and proud of it) men look so much better with long hair. Let's hope it works. : )
@MsSprog GOD BLESS THE HIPPIES. our music will never get old. but what a drag it is that we have to. but thats alright i still got my guitar. and i think it is so cool that some off the best music was writen by some of the highest people. rock and roll will never die.
My father used to play this album, then tell me I needed a haircut.....now my hairline is making a beeline to my neckline....landing strip almost finished...
Almost cut my hair , but it fell out the other day. Wanted to take it with me when I go, but it wasn't Gods way. So I wepted and I wondered why. Just praying for wings to fly if I can't have hair when I when I die. LOL.
gotta admit i just listened to the unedited longer studio version from the carry on disc for the last years .. but the scratches from the lp add kind of a feeling missing on the cd!
It's fairly acceptable, I mean this song was written about 40 years ago. . . times and fashion change. . . and if you were to listen to 50's pop, that doesn't mean you would become sad because you don't have a bucket of grease to slick back your hair does it? It's ok to get with the times and cut your hair, maintain yourself! Show your love for this amazing music in forward momentum, not regret! ;)
yeah i get what your saying, i just miss it and get the vibe that hes saying in this song. i really want that feeling back and my hairs growing back slowly but surely haha
used to play this in my mini on an eight track player love crosby stills etc real music with feeling long lost sadly brings back so many memories can,t get enough of this track cheers ,gerry
@oldken1 Thats righteous! Your lucky you lived through all of the 60's and 70's. I would just die to be in your shoes! I'm 17, sadly. All I've witnessed was backstreet boys growing up and now, Lady Ga Ga. :/ but yeah! Right on! Peace brother!
