  • does everyone realize that the bass player from megadeth plays one of these? so maybe its ok for more than just slap especially because of the active electronics?

  • @PANICBLADE and mendez from opeth! i just got one and i play rock. the MM jazz rules! any style hands down!

  • Look bro im really glad you have 500 grand in cash. but if you are gonna spend your money at least learn what you are spending it on. you claim to be a collector of guitars and BASes as you say and yet you never heard of marcus miller and bought a bass. you must be a crap collector if you dont know a few basic signature models

  • This bass is full of bullshit.

  • this is lame

  • new bie...

  • Using a pick on that bass is a travesty!!

  • it's his money he spends it on whatever he wants! i too feel a little embarassed for the blink 182 playing but if it makes him happy why can't we just give it a rest? c'mon ppl, stop beeing jealous! and btw: learn how to slap on this bass! i bet you'll never feel anything like that!

  • you learn how to slap man this bass was made just for that

  • your putting marcus millers name in shame when you play like that

  • BAD PLAYER ! as usual .

  • o baixo realmente é very good, mas vc tocando pelo amor heim ...vai estudar garotao vc nao fez 1% do som que esse baixo é capaz de tirar..

  • It's okay if you play a Marcus Miller bass with a pick, I mean MarloweDK does all the time... But this guy simply sucks...

  • I got mine for 300 too! in a friggin pawn shop. awesome bass. Good buy. grats!

  • dude Im 15 and i have a cheap ibanez bass that ive had for 2 years im way passed the beginners stage im already playing jazz and funk i would so trade you! i think you deserve my ibanez

  • oh my god... you dont deserve that bass

  • well

first i´m better than you for play bass

second- we play the instruments or instrument play us?..not

if you says to you have a super bass you have to know how to play this super bass

and you dont know to use the fingers..i dont mind the money or if your bass is very expensive LISTEN! you dont know to play bass..:@ ...you suck

  • @skateheel You suck....@....English but that doesn't stop you! You are an inspiration.

  • haha

    you play bass so bad

    you suck

  • yall are fuckin stupid,

playing with a pick is fine it doesnt mean youre playing it wrong, its playing the way you want to and what is more comfortable for you. damnnn

  • it is a disgrace to play a marcus miller signature instrument with a pick. shame on you....

  • I STRONGLY AGREE WITH YOU!

Marcus is ALL about the slap man!!!

not doing slap is like taking a dump on that bass...

  • i have a friend who likes to slap with a bow

i do think playing with a pick is limiting but it is all about what YOU want to do. right/wrong when it comes to music? ...please. you play metal huh?

"if it's not rock it's not tough!" ...blow me

  • There's no such rule that requires us to play a bass this way or that way. it's a matter of preference and comfortability.

  • lol why do people get so pissed if people use picks

  • use your fingers you guitarist! play properly or learn a diffrent instrument.

  • I personally think people should be able to play a bass however they want to.....even if it's by beating it with A HAMMER!! (I wouldn't recommend it) What I'm trying to say is that everyone has a personal preference, and everyone should accept it.

  • someone should tell him its a bass designed for funky chops.. not punk :(

  • AMEN! He needs to slap the piss out of that thing!

  • @mrbassman25 who gives a f*** what it's designed for? let him play whatever he likes

  • £4000. And sadly you've got about £1000 worth of talent.

  • £500,00 in gear. I know, I suck... You should have all this gear. Got cash??

  • yes ''Salvationhascome'' is completely right

  • Comment removed

  • To demonstrate the sound of this, don't use a pick, you should slap more than fingerstyling as that is what Marcus Miller does.

  • Man, I never even heard of the guy, I just saw the bass and knew it was quality. It's good to see he has a lot of fans. If I get another one I'll do a more Marcus demo, even if my fingers melt trying. Thanks for checkin' it out . AND pabloxica, you nailed it. I'm a collector of quality guitars and sometimes basse too. Thanks pab.

  • hey this guy just buy instruments to show you the sound, uses, shapes etc.. so this guy does not really play bass.. so dont be typing that he plays like shit.. see all his videos he just collect guitars etc..

  • I had to smile, and I'm not laughing at you per se dude lol - but this is like somebody who can't drive stick too well driving a ferrari at 15mph to buy groceries.

  • not particluary impressive playing

  • :S:S:S:S

  • he dont look like he need that kind of gear, he dont has the skills this gear wants to be touched with.

  • Playing a Fender MM Jazz Bass with a pick?

    Thats heresy...

  • Not really.

What's wrong with playing with a pick?

It's just another technique like Tapping and Slapping.

  • Picks make basses sound the same, whilst slapping and fingerpicking really bring out the basses tones, thats why people dis-like picks on bass

  • Uh...I don't think you've had to much experience with a pick because picks give a bass a more edgy growly sound.

Hear some Chris Squire basslines and other great pick users like Martin Turner...their tones DO NOT sound the same.

And picks are like I said...just another technique like any other technique that any musician, who wants to be an all around great bassist, should learn.

  • its a marcus miller bass.

you do not play it with a pick.

  • That makes absolutely NO SENSE

    whatsoever.

Just because you get someones signature bass doesn't mean you have to play exactly or sound like them.

Geddy Lee's signature ...I 've seen plenty of people play pick with taht and Nikki Sixx's signature...tons of people play that with their fingers.

  • Then you have no idea what you're talking about so just sit down and shut the fuck up. Marcus Millers signature bass was designed specifically to play with your fingers, mainly slap and pop. The tone sounds absolutely terrible played with a pick. Its not made to be played with a pic. Unless you know what you're talking about GTFO. cunt. :D

  • Oh wow, another comment that had no inch of relevance what so ever...

Look kid, NO BASS is designed for a player to JUST play with his or her fingers that is just ridiculous! I already gave you great concrete examples of other signature basses and how people play them.

Lets take another example, maybe this time it'll sink in your brain and stay there,

Signature Amp Models...do you need to have the same tone and everything that bassist does in order to use that amp?

    NO!

  • You gave me examples of in the middle bassists jackass. Bassists who dont have a distinct tone fuck tard. the reason you buy a mm signature bass is to get the tone of the goddamn tone. If your gonna demonstrate the SIGNATURE FUCKING TONE dont play it the way its not meant to be played. why dont you just go crwl back in side your hole and fuck yourself.

  • Middle bassists who don't have a distinct tone? Geddy Lee does not have a distinct tone?

    Clean your ears...seriously.

Only idiots buy the bass just to sound exactly like their heroes.

If you sound exactly like the bassist then your just another copy! You gotta get out of the box and develop your own style (generically speaking) and sound.

  • Marcus Miller has an incredibly distinct tone that is there to play with your fingers, mainly, slap bass, the tone sounds like absolute shit if your gonna buy a bass specifically designed for slapping in mind and use a godam pick with it. you're probably just another shitty bassist who only knows how to use a pick so you go around defending anyone who uses a pick.

  • I am not a pick user...I am influenced by great pick players like Chris Squire and maybe I will play a pick in the future.

So you think you know everything but you don't.

Hooray! GOOD FOR MARCUS to have such an incredible tone....THATS MARCUS'S tone...not anyone elses to duplicate! And its just a jazz bass with his little add ons that he wanted like pick ups or something (like Geddy Lee's)

    He didn't actually say

OKAY MAKE IT SO THAT MY SIGNATURE BASS CAN ONLY SOUND RIGHT IF ITS SLAPPED.

  • well if your gonna demonstrate the fucking signature bass, try and get the fucking signaure tone.

  • Nah you really DO NOT have to do that.

People who don't even know the artist might just get it because of the looks ( like Marcus's signature) and of course tone.

I've seen people who do that. And with strings too I got some Steve Harris signature strings like 2 years ago and I didn't have to be like him and have his tone and shit.

  • If your getting it for looks you don't need to hear it played. i don t give a shit what strings you got your not fucking demonstrating them and showing the fucking tone you can get out of them.

  • I never said I got it for looks...you really need to learn how to comprehend what your reading.

They were flatwounds and they gave me a tone that a flatwound string gives

To get Harris EXACT tone I would have to hit the strings really hard, lower my action and have his amps and settings and his bass.

So i'm sorry If I got his strings and couldn't show off HIS EXACT TONE and be and exact copy of him.

So please stop bitching about playing a signature bass the way the artist who made it plays it

  • how about you comprehend what youre reading because that is nowhere near what i was saying, my oint wasnt about the goddam strings so read it again and stop being such a bitchy little cunt.

  • You said if your geting it for looks

    and I responded

    I"M NOT!

maybe you should be more specific when your talking out of your ass.

    Your too funny

I'm bitching? Really? How so? By responding to the bitch comment you sent me in the first place.

  • I agreed that it shouldnt be played with a pick and then you exploded. and you're too retarded im talking about the look of the god damn bass not the strings

  • Be specific when your talking then because when you responded I was talking about strings that I got (to prove my point on getting signature music items but you don't necessarily have to copy the persons sound).

  • well then you make no fucking sense because you were talking about looks and no one would buy stings for looks.

  • Are you sure you read my comment right?

    ARE YOU SURE?

I did not say ANYTHING about getting strings for the looks.

Seriously man just stop, you already made a complete idiot out of yourself.

  • sings:WHY CANT WE BE FRIENDS! WHY CANT WE BE FRIENDS!

  • Seriously man that other guy just doesn't understand that playing with a pick on ANY bass is perfectly fine

you don't have to be an exact copy of your favorite bass player.

  • lmfao!~@catdog119~~!!

  • I bought it because it was $300. It could have been a South Park Cartman bass, it was a quality made bass, $300 I'd have bought them all day. All buy quality basses all day for $300, and typically I do. I sold it for $1000. I'd sell a South Park Cartman bass for $1000 all day ect.ect.ect.

  • I'll buy quality basses, I mean.

  • man i can't believe that u play the bass with a pick.... you could play like him a bit....

  • I think you should read my comment that I left.

  • thats true your are so bad playing that do other thing

  • thats to much bass for you!

  • Semejante bajo para interprete tan malo... hermano... te gastaste miles de dolares en ese pedazo de bajo y tocas como si fueras baterista... xD xD xD xD xD

  • mybe he's a guitar player not a bass player hehe..

  • good sound

  • you play good for what you do, the fact that you are using a Marcus Miller Bass by fender Japanese version, is totally cool .

Kudos, Even though you have no clue how to play jazz is great you actually own a real nice piece of gear.

  • The only thing i thought that was different between a P-bass and a J-bass was that the pickups look different

  • And sound different too. There are J/P basses out there that have Jazz necks with P bridge buckers and single J pickups.

  • tanta gente que sabe tocar e merecia ter um jazz desses e esse bosta com um....

  • are you crazy???you suck man!!!

  • chaovbn tenes 2 dedos eh!

why you don't use the two fingers??!

  • If you only play with fingers because you see the pick as "sissy" and don't master both techniques and posibilities, you are just as bad, because of ignorance and being opinionated.

Boludo, que bien que tocás con los dedos pero si no sabés usar púa en el bajo, y la consideras para principiantes, eres "medio" bueno!!!

  • marica toca con los dedos, deja de trastear por dios!!!

  • If you only play with fingers because you see the pick as "sissy" and don't master both techniques and posibilities, you are just as bad, because of ignorance and being opinionated.

Carnal, que bien que tocas con los dedos pero si no usas plumilla con el bajo, no por gusto, pero por que la consideras para principiantes, eres "medio" malo tú tambien!!! Pásale al pizarrón y postea un video tuyo tocando!! saludos...

  • Exactly my friend.

  • Just slap man !

  • Sounds pretty good??? Dude, this is the best bass fender makes!!!!!

  • If I had this bass, I would most definitely take the metal cover off of the pickup. It makes it pretty uncomfortable.

  • by the way ... all humbucking pick ups bass guitars can either be played with fingers or a pick or slap...while single coils with less output usually with fingers or slap....playing it with a pick with a good amp and a new set of strings is not a bad thing...you can still make it sound like a piano;)

  • I dissagree.

The p-bass has one split singlecoil( 51' have a normal singlecoil) and thats a bass that is very common played with a pick. I would say tha 70-80% of all rock/punk is produced with a p-bass. And it sounds very ok.

  • haha its not always the case whether you can play it or not..... he loves that bass??? right so as long as he can get one and as long as hes happy who cares if he can play or not;) ps: Precision Bass is the way to go;)

  • What is so good about a P bass? What do you like more about a P bass then a Jazz bass?

  • What's the difference between a Jazz Bass and and a Precision Bass? I've never really known...

  • The MM jazz bass should never be played with a pick

  • why? lol

  • haha,idk..I just think its a funky, R&B bass,not a punk bass...Its all gravy though..

  • well maybe you can try to play funk with pick

in a more guiristic way, its not gonan kill the bass, why you always need to conform lol

its music if i want to fart on the bass to vibrate the string, ill fucking do it damn it!!! hehe you have to feel free, have fun and enjoy

  • i think for the sake of this video, playing the bass with a pick is maybe not the best choice, just because the majority of people that play bass wouldnt be using one, so it doesnt give a great example of the tone you would get using normal technique. (im not saying you cant play bass with a pick, im just saying that generally most people dont.)

  • dude this guy needs way more practise

  • the way u play that perfect bass is a crime...please stop torturing that beutifull instrument...for the love of God give it or sell it to someone who actually knows how to play it...

  • ACTUALLY, this IS an ebay advertisement..... this guy is trying to sell it.

  • blimey Marcus, Last time I saw you you were black!!! have you been hangin out with Michael Jackson!!!
