  • That's my mom at 3:10 jumping for joy <3

  • @crinos43, I don't think Tom would've done it, Tom is now 80 and was 75 at the time, he's retired.

  • That 3 Strikes board looks so tiny!

  • One interesting thought: Jim waited seemingly over two decades after the original format was guest-hosted by his brother Jack for this format. Earlier in the decade the Narz Boys flipped positions in hosting "Password Plus" when one was a guest.

  • when was this show done was it in the late 80s does anybody know?

  • @girlygirl850 1985-86.

  • Ah, the Marc Breslow era, brought a lot of magic to the show. Arguably the greatest director in the history of TPIR. Paul Alter was a great director himself, very basic style. Tom Kennedy and Bill Cullen were great hosts, Drew Carey is doing well. Bob Barker is debatable. The 3 Strikes in the Marc Breslow was always exciting to see.

  • Wow. 3 Strikes looks wierd to me with only 4 digits

  • I like Drew Carey to replace Bob Barker then Tom Kennedy

  • Kennedy is older than Bob Barker. Wouldn't happen. Just like Monty Hall isn't hosting Let's Make A Deal

  • tpm kennedy's voice is very similar to bob barker.

  • I liked Tom Kennedy on this and thought he was a good host. Of course Bob Barker is best associated with TPIR Tom does a fine job here and of course we have Johnny Olsen doing the announcing. Thanks for a nice reminder when Game Show Network was a good channel.

  • tom kennedy looks and acts much like bob

  • The Pontiac Firebird back in the time was worth over $9,000 in price.

  • The Pontiac Firebird back in the time was worth over $9,000 in price.

This was I think the longest play on record prior to 1993 (I might be wrong)

  • not that i dont like tom kennedy, i think he's great, but y wasnt barker hosting the night time

  • For the life of me, I can't remember where I read this, but I recall reading that Bob refused to do a 5-per-week nighttime version because he thought it was overkill.

  • i rhink it would have been a lot on bob barkers plate to do the hour long daytime shows then do the 5 night week nighttime version as well.i think the show cancellrd because it was for only 30 minutes and on spinning wheel .tom did a good job.noboby does it like bob barker

  • @AdamNedeff That reason would be a logical explanation as to why Bob Barker didn't host it.

  • Another number.

    Buzzt!

Don't pay any attention to that. That's just the freeway! LOL!

  • the sound person thought the second pick was a strike.

  • Who created this game?

  • Interesting, it's the first game and no audience entrance

  • now there's one strike.

  • The 1985 nighttime syndicated revival was when the Perfect Bid Bonus was raised to $500. The daytime version didn't raise the bonus to $500 until November 1998.

  • I saw that when they got a number wrong, they did not show the NO graphic.

  • before about february or march of 1987, there wasn't a "no" graphic for 3 strikes. the original "no" graphic debuted around the same time as the current buzzer was born.

  • Maybe, but I have the second half of one from 1986 that has the "NO" graphic.

  • thanks for the update, i was only 2 years old in '86, but was always under the impression that a lot of changes took place just before bob let his hair go grey...

  • I was 10 years old and I remember this and enjoyed watching it right after the 6pm news. It was the best 30 minutes on. It should have lasted longer than a year. It was great.

  • It's the same game show as that which Bob Barker hosted. Unless your referring to the fact that u couldn't watch in the day and only at night and u didn't have a VCR. But otherwise I'd agree w/ u.

  • I didn't know overbid buzzer rang 5 shorts times. I guess I wasn't paying attention. Now it just 3 long buzzes when they overbid.

  • And you have ALL overbid!

  • And I caught the blooper when they sounded the "Strike" buzzer..my guess was the sound people thought that was red they saw (#'s in white, X's in red).

  • Strike Uno!!!!!

  • I heard that in the markets the nighttime version aired, it was either put in a late-night time slot or beaten out by the daytime version.

  • I wonder how did Tom Kennedy have the time to do Body Language, and The Nighttime Price Is Right at the same time?

  • Well, "Body Language" ended its run in early January 1986, so he didn't have to worry that much about it.

  • Always a nerve-wracking game.

  • And jaw-dropping when someone says that the first digit of a 3 Strikes car is a 1 or 2 (everybody knows that the game's played for expensive cars like Cadillacs and Lincolns).

  • Ahh...Memories.

  • All in the family!!! Hosted by the other brother-in-law, Jim Narz (a.k.a., Tom Kennedy) of original "Price is Right" host Bill Cullen. TK's fun style was very similar to Cullen's. I really preferred Kennedy to Bob Barker, who was more the self-absorbed star. Tom really rooted on those contestants. Sorry to disagree with you, Tom; you did a fantastic job (and I'm usually a pretty tough critic)!

  • @Noveltooner Bob Barker did often steal the thunder from his TPIR contestants, that I must agree on.

  • Oh man...four years old, and enjoying the nighttime TPIR with Tom Kennedy...sometimes I wish that GSN would air some versions of it again.

  • besides, wasn't he much better at the time on body language? :P

  • nice to have seen this show when i was 10 or so but then again wasn't this tom kennedy at his worst?????? imho he was all right but he definitely didn't fill the shoes of the great bob barker. :)

  • Sadly, when asked, Tom expresses a similar opinion about his own performance, but I have to disagree, I think he did a fantastic job of making the show his own.

  • They should do the intro in the daytime verison.

  • auop, they all over bid they have to do it again

  • this version was slotted at 2am in New york around 1985 0r 1986, so i was to little to stay up and watch it.

  • Tom is 80 years old.

  • over bid over bid another!

  • I remembered Tom Kennedy hosting "The Price Is Right" back when I was 4 years old.

  • I want to say right now that I think Tom did a great job hosting TPiR back in the day.

Drew may be the new host of the show, but in my opinion, if Drew had said no, Tom should have gotten it.

  • I agree with ya 100% in my opinion Tom may of been the best alternative to Bob Barker. I remember watching him when I was 3 years old on this

  • Tom is a little too old to host game shows. He is somewhere in his mid 80s as well.

  • Of course his last game show was in 1987

  • He is retired for christ sakes!
