@xjod9 They never said it's a new thing. They did mention that companies have been using multiple monitors for a long time now, but over the past few years people have increased the number they use in their houses. Which is true. Though it's probably been happening over the past 4-5 years. I just noticed also that this video was released 2008.

There are a variety of uses that require additional monitors in order to be highly productive. Video editing, audio editing, web design, programming, stock trading, camera monitoring, high profile blogging, etc.
