  • i love it

  • Chinese is not a Sino-Tibetan language, because "Sino-Tibetan" is not technically a valid language family. Linguists in general prefer to talk about "Burmo-Tibetan," of which Chinese is just one sub-branch.

  • ji hu khampa be proud to khampa

  • great!

  • i luv this song!!!!

  • I think they co-operated very well. They are sopranos but their voice were lovely.

  • I love you all... <3

  • My parents are from Kham. Listening to their accent, I am sure they are from Kham. Few of my father's best friends were Amdo and I am used to Amdo accent too. These girls' accent does not sound Amdo. They are Kham-mos.

  • These girls are either from Kham or Amdo. Historical Tibet we have three main regions...Autsang (current day Chinese call TAR) Kham (current day Chinese call TAP/ Sichuan-Yunnan) and Amdo (current day Chinese call Northern TAP/ Qinghai-Gansu)

We have different way of pronouncing words throughout Tibet but our written language is the same all over Tibet whether it is the TAR or the TAP as the damn Chinese named the regions.

  • Just dont blame on the music. If u so care of tibetan traditional music what steps u take to save them.

  • Wait... is the language of Tibet different than that of China?

  • Well, there are 56 ethnic groups in China. And for better communication, they use Mandarin to communicate with each other. You can find different letters on Chinese Money indicated the Muticulture of China.

  • I see. Well it is a very large country so it is not unexpected for it to have so many languages. Is there differences of pronunciation/grammar/syntax? Any caste linguistic systems? Also, what does Hong Kong speak?

  • Oh and what Ethnic group is this?

  • darknesstoholy:

These are Tibetan women singing a song in the Tibetan language. It's not a dialect of Chinese (if that's what you're thinking). In fact there is no relation between the Tibetan language and Chinese language.

The scripts (between Tibetan and Chinese) are different as well (as you can probably tell from the lyrics are being displayed on the screen which are written in the Tibetan language).

  • I can tell they are different, yes, both by sound and scripture. Actually, Tibetan looks somewhat like Mongolian. I don't know if the two share any relationship with each other or if its entirely isolated.

  • actually Chinese and Tibetan are both sino-tibetan languages and archaic chinese(not modern mandarin chinese) is more relate to Tibetan than most linguist originally thought.

I know they are extremly different but they are related in in distant way, even though they are more different than they are similar

  • Maaguaa: oh please! what else are you guys gonna claim as Chinese, huh? that tsampa (Tibet's staple food) also had its orgination in China? that Tibetan butter tea is also an ancient Chinese drink? give me a break!

If the Tibetan language is an archaic form of Chinese (as you claim), then please delve into your archaic Chinese dictionary and tell me what "kyakpa sa" means? Also, while you're at it, look up, "kukpa."

  • i never said tibean is an archaic form of chinese. i said the old archaic chinese is more related to tibetan than what most linguists thought.

i know mandarin and tibetan are in fact very different

  • Out of curiosity, because my study is of East Asian Culture and Lit and Buddhism. How related are they? I always assumed that Tibetan was a derivative of Sanskrit (of course I am probably wrong), did Ancient Chinese form out of Tibetan? I know that Tibet controlled a large chunk of China during the time of the Greater Tibetan Empire, so I was curious if maybe Tibetan influenced the Chinese language then?

  • Tibetan writing is a derivation of sanskrit, but Tibetan language is, I believe, most closely related to Mongolian, in the Tibeto-Burman subcatagory of the Sino-Tibetan langauge family. However, thr elation between chinese and Tibetan is about as close as the relationship between, say, Hindi and Arabic.

  • I think you have a real red Chinese mentality and all of your writing are not true. Tibetan langauge is compeletly different from Chinese and accent as well. Tibetan has thirty alphates and Chinese doesn't have any alphabets. Writing Chinese is pictorial writing and Tibetan writing is sound writing. Tibetan writting came from Indian langauge and Tibetan alphabet is as same as Hundi sound.

  • Please stop lie and cheat others, lie and cheat not perfet way to keep harmony. Sooner or late poeple understand reality because reality is more valueble than trickery adn deciet. I must know poeple are not clumsy as you. Actually Chinese don't know to eate Tsampa and even Chinese who live in China doesn't know Tsam and butter tea. Because as world know that Chinese doesn't love butter and they nerver use butter and milk. Ten years ago in China you can't find milk and curd yogurt. be honest!
