@kievcyclist LOL! On the ones with grades in the high twenties to low thirties, I know I wouldn't be able to climb one right after the other without catching my breath between climbs. Those are steeper than all but a few of the mountain bike climbs I did in my latest video. I measured grades in the mid twenties on some of them.
@sriharsha25 Thanks! :) I've heard about the steeps in Seattle, and I've seen those videos on YouTube of people trying to drive up them when they're covered with ice and snow. Needless to say, that usually doesn't end well. It would be a fun challenge on a mountain bike with studded tires!
@climb20percents It was pretty intense effort to climb those 29%-38% hills, so I confess that I wasn't really thinking of controlling it too much. It might get easier once I lose this last 20 pounds ;)
Amazing that you did all this on a Bike Friday, not the lightest bike in the world.. What gearing did you have? Kudos for trying that 5 times ... I would have given in after 2.
@ca3crown Thanks! :) I have a 24-tooth small chainring and an 8-speed 11-28 cassette, which gives me a 16 inch low gear. I only had to use that lowest gear on Broderick. The rest of the hills in the video were done with second gear (the 24-tooth cog on the cassette).
@kgowen4444 Also, did you see me try to hide my freighttrainism from those pedestrians walking downhill while I was going "huh-uh uh", then it sounded real good near the top when I almost went into oxygen debt from that? LOLOL!
I feel pain in my legs just watching this.

Good job!
On a much more serious note though, I bet you can't climb all of those hills simultaneously!

Great steep climbs! Very good, but try to control your breathing.

@ca3crown By the way, you should do a sufferfest video down there. Marin Ave. in Berkeley too, which will be dealt with on a future trip. ;)
