  • When I get my rats I make them ride around on me in a hoodie all the time, and they get comfortable with me that way and it's a lot easier. Also rats don't wag their tails.

  • Those cages are WAY to small the last one is OK for just one rat,the 2nd one is a little bit small for travailing, both ways you should have two rats at least in the same cage, unless they are being mean to other rats, or sick and you are trying to keep them from the other rats.

  • I am going to save my money get the cage and food and then I will get my rats I cant wait :)

  • Is there any way I can persuade my dad to buy a pet rat for me? All advice is welcome, thanks!

  • 20 gallon is a nice size for 1 so but people make stories in them so its suitable for 2 and 15 gallon is to small for 2 rats

  • Can someone answer my question please? I have a 15 gallon aquarium right now. Can 2 rats live in it nicely? Or do I have to build a cage instead? If I need to build it please tell me an appropriate size! It can't be ginormous but it can be largish. Thanks!

  • @RuthandKenzie No aquariums, you need a cage for ventilation

  • This is really good. But don't rats want company, would it be bad if you put them in the same cage.

  • Would make a wonderful husband too.

  • Is it mistake to get only one rat?

  • @555vanchy Yes, it is. A big one. They can't live alone.

  • @555vanchy

you better get 2 or more rats, no matter how many time you spend with it, most of the time your rat is alone and has no one to sleep with, play with, cuddle, groom,..

i had 2 gerbils, one of them died, and it made me feel sad, seeing how he missed someone to play with,..

thats why i am getting 3 brothers pet rats, so if i'm busy with one of them the others have each other and when one of them would die, i have time to find a new friend, and they would still have eachother

  • baby rats think we could be prey?

  • They didn't take the food and run away to hide it! :)

  • Lol put a sweatshirt on your hairless baby :D and lol, tar is rat backwards. Ive thought of that name but is sounds more like a guts name and im a female rat person.

  • how do you get them to sleep with you or take a nap with you? Mine is so hyper when out of her cage. And wouldnt they go to the bathroom on you

  • One

  • Omg I want obe

  • idk man she looks like a dumbo rat

  • This video is exactly pertains to exactly what the lady said it's for, PET STORE RATS. Don't support the "Big" pet store chains. In fact when purchasing rats seek out a local reputable breeder.

  • @APT420 sometimes the big pet stores get lucky when a breeder dumps a litter there. I am soon to be breeder but I have gotten some awesome petstore / feeder rats. but obviously a well bred socialized from birth rats will be that much better. I dont encourage getting feeder rats any more. there are lots of pet rats that need homes. If you "save" a feeder it will just be replaced by another they dont care what happens after you buy it.

  • if they bit you even if the pet rats not wild could u get a deseas from them

  • @Anne123N What diseases? unless they are pet store rats they are bred by breeders who watch their every step carefully. Therefore, there are no diseases in most pet rats. Even pet store rats are disease free. If anything, we give them cooties and they get sick from us.

  • haha he'll sleep with you :p

  • @IloveHamsters2000 ur full of shit I read ur fucked up message and "the dead girl" did not come into my room

  • @EveryoneEatsShit u fucking suck donkeys dick u don't know shit bout rats

  • I put my rats in the playpen for 45 minutes...they got along fine

  • thanks u really helped

  • Cheese isn't that healthy for rats... stick to fruits and veggies !!!!

  • ........ and when rats wag their tail, there everything but ok with the situation :I

  • I wouldn't give them cheese, they dont tolerate milk so good

  • wag his tail?...I have had rats for years! (over 30...6 now)....I have NEVER seen a rat wag it's tail.

  • I love this woman's videos. I have 4 rats. They can eat anything as long as it is in moderation.

  • woman, u know nothing xD for instance i've never seen rats wiggle their tails, their rats not dogs....

  • This lady doesn't know much.

  • WHY ARE THEY RUNNING AROUND ON THE TABLE!!

  • @sahiegirl888 why not?

  • does she know at 0:17 the rat behind her fell off the cage

  • thanks this is the video that i was looking for i have new rats

  • did she do all the videos n 1 day or duz she wer the same thng evry day?? lolz

  • ? What do you mean by "damn, sure man"

  • I own 11 snakes 70 tarantulas 2 bearded dragons 1 frilled dragon 2 chameleons 1 centipede 3 geckos 1 hamster and one a soon two rats I think all animals are beautiful snakes are not evil I give the prekilled frozen prey if your a animal lover than you love all animals not just one type.

  • @westsidetarantulas Damn sure, man

  • @westsidetarantulas LOL I have tarantulas too

  • @westsidetarantulas I once told a friend that I like lizards and she's getting al mad on me because they eat hamsters but that's nature right and I got a hamster my self :)

Just wanted to say that because your right! :)

  • @westsidetarantulas i think your right and you must have alot of money.

  • @westsidetarantulas I give mine live prey its better mine wont touch frozen ones

  • @optimusmikey Have you tried "braining" frozen rats/mice(after they've been warmed)?

Using a toothpick, or cutting the head open, and exposing the brain matter will release a specific scent into the air. Very few snakes can resist it.

  • @SketchyChik fresh food is best frozen is bad same with pre killed

  • @westsidetarantulas I give mine live prey its better mine wont touch frozen ones

  • @westsidetarantulas That's amazing! How do you keep up with the maintenance?

  • @westsidetarantulas remind me not to come to your house , the centipede is creepy bro.

  • Hi I just got a rat I had made the mistake of trying to hold her first and now im trying to do what you said do you think she will come around?

  • scummy bitch

  • @faisalbasha im assuming you live in a city if you don't know the difference between a wild/sewer rat, and a domestic rat

  • i also have a pet rat named tar but he is not black, he is brown and white

  • when u see rats walking on top the the cages, u will then start wonder why they even bother having cages lol

  • Help? I have two little rats that DO bite the hand that feeds them? Like they avoid to food nibble on my hand.. it's not hard but I don't get it? I even washed my hands! Then if I drop the food they eat it!? This isn't the first time I've had rats too these are my 5th and 6th.

  • @JFuzzman

Stop hand feeding them....Many people like to give rats food by hand...BUT this CAN cause rats to "bite before they look"...

In nature rats do not offer each other food, unless it is a act of submission or trying to gain entry to a larger group....Hand feeding is ok for the first few weeks..but should be discontinued unless "treating" them for tricks.

  • @JFuzzman don't wash your hands before you interact with them. They know who you are by your scent.

  • never feed your rats cheese EVER! its super bad for them.

  • my wild rat hates cheese lol, she mostly likes carrot and oats.

  • I want a naked rat so bad! O.o

  • " rats belong to sewers?" wtf? wild ones are living there yes but people are forgetting something: who created sewers? us. And wild rats are of course using good opportunity and go living in sewers cause there is safer: no natural enemies. ( at least not so much..) and they find food so easily in there. And of course when they are living in these kind of places it is not miracle that they carry diseases.... So in my opinion wild ones are very smart using us to find safe place to live

  • How many rats does this woman have?

  • @faisalbasha

You obviously know *nothing* about pet fancy rats, so kindly keep your comments to yourself, if you have nothing intelligent to say.

  • @faisalbasha rats can be pets, snakes belong in the wild not in thouse:thats what your saying oud rather have no snakes as pets then?

  • I hope the cages on the table are not the ones the rats live in, they are way too small. Also, if you get your rats from a good(!) rat breeder (rattery) they will be tame when you get them. Don't buy pets in pet stores, they were bred for the money in rat mills and treated horribly!

  • You probaly got a rat that has been abused in the past, wether it was from being loney or the owners hurting their rats. for that rat i would say wait another year then get a pair of the same gender

  • People, please help! I have a rat (girl) who is already two years old and she just keeps biting me and i cant do anything! First when i bought her she bite me very painfully and I just tought that she will reliese soon that i dont want to hurt her but she didnt... If you know what I should do then plz help me!

  • @SJ9765 your a douche

  • @SJ9765 The Black Plague was spread by fleas, not rats. You are an idiot.

  • @DervishQuinzel it was from war between uhh i forget asian country and one side fired their comrades dead bodies into the village and 3 men took it to europe

  • @DervishQuinzel the flease lived on rats...

  • @hellokatiepie The Black Plague was distributed by fleas that did get carried around by mammals in general. but the misconception is that rats were infected with the black plague, which is false.

Humans carry more human-effective diseases than any other animal, If people are going to say rats are vile because they carry illness, then you may as well go live in a cave because humans are a thousand times more deadly to you than rats.

  • @DervishQuinzel no she's not

  • @DervishQuinzel yes, rats sre so misunderstood

  • @SJ976 " they`re all evil!" ? well you mean those " wild ones"... at least black rats were ones that was carrying one type of plague.

" these pets are dangerous".. come on! how many have you heard died cause of pet rats? I would like to hear if you have seen. I don`t think keeping rats as pets would be allowed if people was dying cause of them. You seriously don`t have any idea what you`re talking about read coulple of books about petrats and then complain if you have still something to say:)

  • @SJ9765 if you get them from a pet store their clean they dont get rats strait from the sewers and anything can carry the black plague how to you think it spread across europe so fast know your shit man fleas rats humans mosquitos can all carry it its not from rats it was from the rotting bodies in a village from battle not rats

  • @snickers763 actually it was the fleas on the rats which spread the disease it came from the far east to italy then to the rest of europe

  • @sarahseth4 fleas on the rats pretty much is rats spreading it in medieval Europe living in a house without rats was like being a god

  • stomp them all! theyre like shit with legs & fur

  • @SJ9765 you never had a pet rat so shut the fuck up. you dont make a difference between a pet rat and a sewer rat.

  • @SJ9765 wow your fucking ignorant as hell plz take a gun place the barrle in your mouth and pull the trigger because only losers with no life go online and bash other ppls vids btw your a dip shit who doesnt care for the life of other creaters you hateful prick

  • @SJ9765 you must have no fucking heart.......

  • @Celtic8781 lolz

  • Cheese can also give them the squits!!

i learnt this lesson when i gave mine too much cheese. . .

  • also, i found that my rats didn't eat almost half of the store bought food i was giving to them. turns out they don't really like alfalfa sprout speeds of which the food had a lot. so i ended up making my own food from this recipe i found online and they loved it! google search for Subee's homemade rat diet!

  • a lot of store bought rats have mycoplasm which is a form of bacteria that lies dormant in their lungs. it can be aggravated by an unclean habitat. there is no cure for it and it's devastating to watch them suffer with it. just an fyi for new rats owners/lovers.

i've heard that buying from a rat breeder will give you a better chance of having a pet rat that doesn't already have this disease.

  • yo what the hell it is huge!?

  • This "expert as they call her, is not an expert. In another video she says rats last about 1-2 years. They actually live 5-7. Mice live 2-3 even. Also she says in this video, "As you see Tar is really comfortable being with me and holding him in HIS arms." What?

  • They are so BIG o.O ....

  • I have that blue cage on the left for my rat but mines a little diffrent but im going to get a big one when i save enough money because it's so small so i let my rat play out a lot & i think you should get a bigger cage too:)

  • expert my ass she has no idea how to care for rats seen all the rat videos with her in and the basic mistakes and mis information she keeps dishing out makes me cringe.

  • i have 4 rats altogether i have 2 new dumbo rats one of them keeps sneezing and i have changed the bedding to see if that would help and now my rats have all started to sneeze i would just like to know how i could get this to stop thanks.

  • @STORMTR00PERS A lot of times rats get 'new home sneezes' where they will sneeze, but are not sick. If it doesn't stop though, then you should take them to the vet, they could have a respiratory infection. What bedding are you using? Pine and Cedar are toxic for rats. Aspen is the only safe wood chips you can use. Carefresh is very dusty so that could be irritating the rats. Do you have them in a tank, or wire cage? Tanks have poor ventilation so that could also be the cause.

  • I have just got 2 new Dumbo rats and one of them keeps sneezing so i changed the bedding to see if that would help but now the sneezing has spread to my other rats so i would like to know how i could help them stop sneezing thanks.

  • @STORMTR00PERS Could it be because your using the wrong bed liner? Aspen or Pine chips cause dust that could aggravate. I would try using the cotton chunks they sale at petsmart. It's what they use in their tanks. Good luck with your rats

  • @luckyloser89 What? Aspen is a great bedding and the only safe wood chip, I highly recommend it. Pine and Cedar are toxic for rats, that is why they are not used. The Aspen bedding doesn't have dust. Carefresh actually has a lot of dust which can irritate their respiratory systems and it's much more expensive then Aspen.

  • @zOMGLaserGunzPewPew Sorry for calling you a bitch.

  • @zOMGLaserGunzPewPew

Wow. Blabla, said the guy who called me a bitch. U r funny xD . This boxes in the video are for the rats and they r all alone they r not only for watching u supid idiot ;D Btw i never told bad things to u in the Comment before, only the true.

  • @LadyKi77y I assumed "smth" in the sentence "you don't know smth about rats" was some sort of abbreviation for an offensive word.

I don't have rats now, but I used to have 3 rats. I had 3 because they love to play. 1 of them was born with deformed back legs and I made him a little wheel-chair so he could run around. I loved my rats so don't accuse me of being some sort of animal abuser. Who thinks rats should be kept alone in tiny cages.

  • @zOMGLaserGunzPewPew

I had alot of rats and this girl here only dont know smth about rats and when u think the cage is big. then u dont know smth about rats too. finito. bb

  • zOMGLaserGunzPewPew

Blabla said the Guy who call me a Bitch ^^. This Girl is bathing her rats and all Rat Owners know that it is wrong to bath a rat! And this little cages are not only there for watching u total idiot.

  • @LadyKi77y It is not wrong to bathe rats. It's bad to do it too often. Bathing too often will make their skin dry, or males with over-produce buck grease. A bath every month will not harm the rats, and sometimes they are needed if the rat gets into something, or is eating a messy food, like oatmeal or baby food.

  • absolutely nonsense. rats may eat cheese. their stomachs have evolved since their introduction to western europe in the 1200's to eat virtually any food - in MODERATION of course. a piece of cheese will certainly NOT hurt a rat in any way, so long as a small piece.

  • how did you get that black rat so big? its amazing!

  • sagte sie nicht erschrecken sie und Recht, als sie sagte, dass sie stets lebendigen Mist Angst aus ihnen heraus!

  • I got my rats in November and they love me and all that but whenever I try to train them they freak out. I put them on the floor and they just keep running back to me. Its like they aren't interested in the food they only want to be on my shoulder (I think thats were they feel the safest) How can I get them used to the floor so I can teach them tricks???

  • yeah... "expert"

  • This woman is NOT an expert. It's sad that anyone can claim to be an expert and post videos that are full of misinformation like this woman's videos are.

  • your an id10t you never sleep with a small pet you will probly roll on them

  • i love this girl!! and this videos really help me!

  • nice you have a hairless rat its in its genes right? i have a rat the same color as the tannish one

  • My Rats are so cool they can come into my hood on command!

  • OMG! THANK YOU! THIS HELPED ME SOO MUCH! NOW ME AND MY RAT BELLA ARE CLOSER THAN EVER I LOVE THIS CHICK SHE IS AMAZING! SHE HELPED ME..

  • that black rat has gigantic balls

  • I'm getting a rat and my mum said I need to look how to look after a rat so thanks

  • Those cages are way too small! Even for a mouse or a hamster.. Please, learn more about rats before you go "advising" other people with the wrong information..

  • i had a rat and it ran away with these wild rats and then one day i saw it behind the pot plant out side and i put it on my shoulder and it bit my ear it was hungry and thought i had food for it so it sniffed my ear cos it thougt food was in my ear and it hurt i was only 4 though

  • wouldn't you just put food in your hand and show them when you got it to show them you bring them food and care for them and then they look up to you if you hold it they might think oww i need to take this of you and they might bite you too :( expert village is really bad

  • They do bite if they aren't used to being hand fed. A good way to deter biting is by saying something like, "treat" when giving food. I learned this the hard way...

  • 0:22 and me holding him in HIS arms? fail.

  • Cheese is not good for rats!!!!

  • Why would you want a RAT to sleep with you!?!?

  • @punkbytch21 I think/hope she meant the rat was the one sleeping.. if she was asleep with the rat out of the cage, she's extremely irresponsible. >_<

  • haha instead of paying attention i was looking at the rat in the background!!

  • Letting males and females roam together...that's not a good idea. Please ExpertVillage - replace these videos with some real experts, this lady, whilst I'm sure she believes she's an expert, is not.

  • Chesse is NOT good for rats.. it is a myth do your research lady..

peoples dont feed chesse to rats or mice..

most Rodents are actually lactose intolerant and the cheese can cause runny stools etc.

Giving a Rat a small piece of cheese occasionally for a treat is ok, but not as a daily thing.

  • she is not so not an expert

  • well I think she gives exellent information.

  • this girl makes me sick.sleep with her?i don't think so.She over feeds the poor rats.at least hire someone nicer.

  • I FREAKIN FED MY RAT!!!..... i no longer have 10 fingers

    i have 11

  • she should hav named the black one Charcole

  • eash ur voice is kinda annoying XD

  • tail wagging is usually bad. my ratties clean themselves before and after they eat :) chease has milk in it and rats are lactose intolerent though.

  • That wasn't moderation, lmao.

  • Oh god, never feed a rat cheese! It's bad for them, and can upset their stomachs! Carrots, or yogurt drops are a better selection:)

  • @buggo1236 im new with rats, and isnt it that they cant have bleu cheese cos of the mold?

  • @uberguitargeek

No not allowed to give any type of cheese to a rat

  • @buggo1236 ur such a faggot

  • @mesvidsfavoris lol UMAD? Okay, feed your rat cheese and let them get sick.

  • @buggo1236 Yoghurt drops aren't very good either, because of the sugar in them. ;)

  • @tenmashi That is very true ^^ But at least it is a better selection that cheese c: They do have some vitamens in them, so yogurt drops do have some benefits ;)

  • please help! i have two rats and every single time i put my hand in the cage, they both staart attacking me. once they are out they are perfectly fine. but they bite, run to their house, run back out, bit, and repeat a ton of times in like, 30 seconds. as i time them out of the cage, they squeal and cry, and when they are out of the cage, they do not bite, but they try to get away from me like they are terrified. i got them in october, and am nothing but nice to them. what should i do?

  • @Nala5106 i just bought a rat and its staying in the corner of its cage, not moving really its a baby i'd say about 5 or 6 weeks old so i have a problem with my rat too

  • @yellowtangfish probably just really scared....make sure it eats....should be alright in a few days

  • @lolligje yes she's all better now thanks:)

  • @yellowtangfish

if you bought it from a knowledgeable breeder, there shouldn't be any problem socializing the rat, he/she'll probably scared or not used to the new environment.

if you got it from a pet store, seriously good luck! you might get a nice rat but it's rare, usually they will bite if they're over 4-5 months old... pet store really has the worst personality rats......

  • @yny Yes, my rat is very friendly now, i bought her in a little pet shack, that has good animals and at first i guess the ride home and concidering she was small was a bit of a shock for her, but now she's doing so much better:)

  • @Nala5106

if you got them from a pet store... it might be that they're not well socialized with humans....

  • @Nala5106 Thats a terrible situation to be in. I don't know really, but i would suggest using gloves with them, and maybe just taking them out one at a time for a while, and always have treats ready to give. There are ways to train rats to become more sociable, I just never had one that need the training.

  • rats seem amazing to have as pets.. do they like to get high?

  • @forest1997 My dad got a rat high when he was a teen... It died...

  • @ToxicFearful I'm sorry for your dad's rat's loss. What caused his rat to die? What kind of rat did your dad get when he was a teenager?

  • @forest1997

females are more energetic than males

  • @forest1997 Rodents have VERY sensitive respiratory systems. I wouldn't recommend getting an animal high - save the weed for yourself.

  • I mean "Rats"

  • Rays are such adorable loving creatures. Mine just died, and I've never experienced more sorrow at a passing animal.

  • They are beautiful little creatures. We have four rtas at the moment and they are the best pets we have ever had, just love them.

  • I am taking care of someone else pet rat and she is hiding (at the moment)

    Thanks

  • hi, i have two female rats, and my best friend has two female guinea pigs. they love to run around and play, and she has a large playground for her guinea pigs in her basement, would it hurt if i took my one of my rats over there for 20-45 minutes and let her guinea pig and my rat, (both female) play on the playground together or since they are different species would they hurt eachother? but not at all letting my rat in her guinea pigs cage, just let them play, and then take her home.

  • @Nala5106 I wouldn't recommend that. Maybe on the floor in an open space they're okay, but in a confined setting, no. Guinea pigs are gentle animals, but on the rare occasion that they bite, it can be harsh. Rats may be smaller (sometimes) but they're also territorial (even females). Confining the group could result in injury to one of the animals.

  • I have a pet rat, named Steve. I can't socialize him at all! I've tried everything! He's fine in his cage, where he has lots of room and toys, but when I take him out, he gets scared. I can't even touch him without him squealing. I don't know what to do :(

  • @yoshdosh13 get a different rat if you want a sociable rat. All rats are different. My rat never has been shy or scared of people.

  • @ixie122 awww but I don't want to get rid of him :(

  • @yoshdosh13 Then don't lol. :)

  • I fucking hate rats. Guinea pigs ftw!

  • @Saintliked Guinea pigs suck

  • @mjrogers2 Suck me.

  • A few things, finger feeding usually causes biting. They think 'oh, this finger usually has food. It probably has some now, so I'll bite it.'. Also, letting rats 'run around on their own' is fine, so long as they're properly handled and tame. Which mine weren't. Well done, expertvillage, on finding another 'expert'. ¬_¬
