  • this vid is mint n all

  • or get them off ebay ive now bought 40 polycrystalline a grade not broken for £42 and 10 6x6 polycrystalline for 19 quid as well as wattmeter and for the hell of it a mppt charger abd a 144 wat flexible unisolar panel incase my own endeavours go tits up.. i loveee ebay

  • thepoods.com

  • you get the broken pieces from smashing solar panels you find and NICKIN; the bits LMAO wickeddd

  • I Have Many These Broken garden Lights With This Solar Panels.

Im Planing To Desempble Them And Make It In One panel =]

    Any Tips For Me?

  • 1/2 ton of solder later lol

  • thanks for the tutorial, great!

  • interesting

  • Homemade Solar panels, reduce energy usage click my name below.

  • Have you found a cheap way round the charge controller ? Am attempting to find a battery charger / controller that will not allow an overcharge of the battery (in a car) if left on all the time ( 30 W ). Any advice ?

  • why does he needs to clean the metal whit a wet cloth

  • hey you have the same mastercrap multimeter as I do! $9.99 @ crappy tire

  • from where i can find broken cells

  • great DIY video, couple constructive soldering tips. A wet sponge works a lot better than a wet cloth, its more rigid, holds water better and is easier to scrap crap off of your iron.

Heat the joint, metal, eyelet or whatever you are trying to solder to with the iron, and touch the solder to it until it melts. Don't heat the solder directly with the iron. This makes much cleaner stronger joints, and wastes a lot less solder.

  • I just purchased 20+ pounds of broken panels and am thinking of doing something similar. I am thinking of not encapsulating them but just making a case that will keep the rain out but will be open to the atmosphere so condensation wont form. I also wont use wood but PVC sheets... that I also got for next to nothing :) :) . All in all if all goes well it will cost me about $25 for every 200 watts. that is not including the price of glass or solder.

  • @banshee8989 that sounds like a great deal! if you don't mind me asking where are you buying the cells?

  • subtitles are very small i couldn't read them!!

  • so basically, all you have to do is hook a wire up?

  • u dont know how to solder that solder tec is crap learn first

  • fail soldering, those connections will not be the most reliable. for quality soldering heat up the object/s to recieve solder then melt the solder onto the object/s do not melt the solder directly with the pencil use the hot object to melt the solder.

  • thank u for posting this its helpful

  • Where did u get the cells is there a website

  • @MrBlurp19 search "Silicon Solar" in google. They sell scrap solar cells by weight and watt if you are interested you can order online.

  • nice tutorial!

Yet I think you're wasting way too much solder ;)

  • @ephestioneHQ Solder is the last thing we're in need of, Free energy sources are!

  • @atom069 good comment

  • God how much solder you need son.

  • I bought 6x6 Multi-Cryatalline solar cells that are supposed to be 4 watts, .5 volts and 8 amps. But when I measure the amps using multimeter the highest I ever get for amps is 3.5, even when sun is highest in the sky. Is this normal to get only half amps when measuring solar cells with meter or are these no good and I should return them? Anyone know? P.S. these are not broken or chipped.

  • @PiercingKnight depends on where you live

  • where do you get broken pieces?

  • @WizzleThump From electronic goldmine

  • Hey u used wire instead of tab wire can that be used instead, because the tabing wire is a pain in the A$&.

  • solar panels cost a lot to buy but if you break it some people throw it away but you recycle it good for you!!!

  • where can you but them? i have been searching for a while...

  • you can buy them online or at a store

  • your doing a good job for not using tab wire. note: try just using a pencil eraser the sharp blade will scrap all the soldering point off!!

the rosin core solder is just fine it has the flux in it,that is what i use and all i sell, rosin flux pens are just more cost then you need!!

and Thyktwais is wright the small cell with less amps wins at the end . my web site

    solarcells101

    ,

  • Oh and here's a tip.

Like mentionned at the end of thid vid, your smaller cell determines the Amp output of your panel.

However, you can connect an additional cell in PARALLEL ( not in series like here ), and you'll increase the amps output of that smaller cell, to increase the global output.

    So basically :

Connect in series adds voltage together.

Connecting in parallel ( positive with positive, negative with negative ), adds the amps output of those cells.

  • Actually yes, 15mA or maybe even less is enough to make your hearth stop.

However, you'll need a tension ( voltage ) high enough to penetrate into your body, and it must go through your hearth. It is however true that DC is more dangerous than the AC in your house.

It's quiet unlikely ( perhaps impossible?) that you'll kill yourself with any voltage below 50volts. So don't be scare to experiment with solar panels, as they all usually are between 12, 24 and 48 Volts

  • lol .01 amps cannot kill you, omfg

  • .06 amps across your heart will stop it

  • This can be relatively DANGEROUS. DC Current even at lower voltages can be dangerous. Some PV systems can operate at 500-1000VDC. Most operate at 1-5 AMPS per panel and it only takes .01Amps to kill you. USE with CAUTION.

  • Flux is a good idea. Clean iron with used pants is also a good idea.

  • Dude !!! --- the problem is not with your soldering tip -- it's clearly well tinned. The reason your solder refuses to flow for you is due to your failure to clean your surface with Flux. You can scratch at it all day long but it won't get any better. This is why they invented Flux.

  • with rosin core solder it has the flux, flux pens are just added cost!!!! need solar cells,

    go to web site solarcells101

  • Now here's a man who's never heard of Flux.
