"They're trying to run our country, all fifty states, as one, giant state".
Ironic how the majority of Tea Party "Patriots" protest against their government by arguing that the constitution grants them freedom when they promote the expansion of polices across the U.S. that involve limiting the rights of homosexual citizens, ignoring the right to privacy, and eliminating the tolerance of religions outside Christianity.
"It [government] was supposed to be controlled at a local level [...] that's why we have enumerated powers so that they don't overstretch their bounds, which they've been doing over the last hundred years".
The U.S. wasn't expanding it bounderies, corporations were; businesses, meant to stay at a local level under charters set up by the government to protect free markets from monopoly, sent lobbyists (and lawyers) to "negotiate" congressmen into eliminating restrictions (since the 1890's).
"They knew that less government meant less taxes, meant less interference, meant that things would run smooth".
The Articles of Confederation: The first written US constitution that did not set up a form of collecting taxes from its citizens and failed to find an accurate form of trading currency throughout the states. The nation suffered as war debts went unpaid, businesses sold goods at high costs, and farms failed. Shay's Rebellion followed with armed citizens demanding a resolution.

"We got an awakening of people just in general relearning their constitution".
Some Americans need to relearn their history.
