You know Android is as "fragmented" as windows was compared to MacOS, and still, Mac OS only holds about 5% market share Vs. 90% for windows... The "fragmentation" is more like the ability to make it available to all and to what ppl need or want. Apple will still be good for a margin of users, where open market makes it available for all.
Android is and will be fragmented as hell! Seriously its ridiculous. Its the reason I am getting an iPhone 4 cause I know it will get software updates and I don't have to worry about it being outdated in a day. Plus Android has no syncing software and the Samsung Kies sucks and freezes all the time. Bye bye android hello again iPhone. Also you can't always compare specs of phones running different operating systems. iOS to me doesn't require as much processing power as Android for everyday apps.

the captivate looks like another typical cheap rip off of the iphone that will never compare whatsoever!!!! I get so annoyed when people compare phones to the iphone the droid X is probably the only one that could compare.....this phone looks like another cheap att phone...look at the resolution....garbage...
@jc1337istehsecks Its super AMOLED so the colours are better than the iphone, the retina display is overkill anyway and the 1ghz processor in the galaxy s is faster than the equivalent Iphone 4 processor. The gpu is also faster and the operating system allows greater customisation and options. Check the benchmarks and other comparisons so you dont believe me. You cant expect a channel called Iphoneblog to be unbiased really can you?
@jaju123456 Both the iPhone and Captivate are capable of producing 16.7 million colours. Although the colours may be more vibrant on the Captivate, you do get higher resolution on the iPhone. Its personal preference, really. The retina display may be overkill, but it provides a high resolution screen which makes text and images so gorgeous since its so sharp.
@applefan108 Yeah in the end it does come down to preference and both are very good looking. However, im sure that movies and photos would look better on the samsung whereas text would be better on the iphone but not by much.
@jaju123456 Also, the CPU of both phones are 95% or more identical. They were both developed by Intrinsity, and both hover around 1ghz. The GPU on the iPhone is assumed to be a slower one than the captivate, but honestly, we don't know what it is. People can only rely on speculations. It may be slower or faster, but either way the iPhone will still be much better for gaming for the time being because there are way more high quality graphically sophisticated games.
Why did you iPhone users never complain about resolution on the previous iPhones? The first 3 had a measly 480x320 resolution. Android phones then came out with 800x480 or 854x480 and you didn't care. Now Apple comes out with 960x640 and suddenly everything has to be that res or higher. The difference between 854x480 and 320x480 is far larger than the difference between 854x480 and 960x640. In addition the iPhone uses dated LCD tech, while the sammy uses a Super AMOLED screen.

The resolution is the same as the Droid X, and the screen is smaller so it's more dense than the Droid X as well...
