Awhile back the newpaper had a story about an officer seeing a house with the garage door open, the door leading into the house from the garage open and the lights on at 3 in the morning. The cop went up and knocked on the door nobody answered. He enter the home to find a bunch of kids having a sleep over and there adults upstairs asleep. The story was about people not looking their doors and preventing home invasions. There was no uproar from the community because the cop did nothing wrong.
The officer that opened the door did nothing wrong. All he did was open the door. If he actually step foot into the house then you could say that he did something wrong but with the lights on, door unlocked, nobody answering the knocks and him thinking the call was recent he would have had probable cause to enter the house to check to make sure that everything was alright. I think that it wierd that the occupants did not answer the door. The male even said he was awake.
They didn't do anything wrong. When they showed up they were thinking that the call was recent so it would raise questions that they don't see or hear a disturbance. So they looked around. For all they know the neighbor that called the cops actually was hearing someone break into the house. The dispatcher could of misunderstood and dispatched it as a noise complaint. The point his the officers have to cover their asses and make sure everything is ok or some idiot will sue them if it wasn't.

They did nothing wrong. And plus you have no idea why they were called there, they might have thought there was Break and Enter in progress so they were seeing if there was a forced point of entry. Well i have something to say about this they are some bad cops and they are good cops as well if we didn't have them you couldn't have no freedom out on the streets walking or you'd get your innocent head blew off by some fool. Sort of related...I remember a few years ago. I was in the shower. It was around 9pm. My dogs were inside. Suddenly they started barking like crazy. I had a weird feeling. paranoid, I got out of the shower. Still soapy. I look down the hall to the outside window. A police car outside. Spot light on my window. 2 cops knocking on my door, and jiggling the handle trying to get in. I did not answer. They left, and did not come back. Really freaked me out. Since nothing had happend.

Well i have something to say about this they are some bad cops and they are good cops as well if we didn't have them you couldn't have no freedom out on the streets walking or you'd get your innocent head blew off by some fool. Sort of related...I remember a few years ago. I was in the shower. It was around 9pm. My dogs were inside. Suddenly they started barking like crazy. I had a weird feeling. paranoid, I got out of the shower. Still soapy. I look down the hall to the outside window. A police car outside. Spot light on my window. 2 cops knocking on my door, and jiggling the handle trying to get in. I did not answer. They left, and did not come back. Really freaked me out. Since nothing had happend.

What a storm in a tea cup by some of you belligerent chaps!! The two City Police Officers responded to a reported complaint of concern received by the Central. The house suspected had 2 doors, a main door that is closed and locked and a loose ventilation door that is normally left unlatched!
There was no evidence of misconduct, on the contrary however, they applied & gave the benefit of the doubt leaving with extra advise given to the occupants. Camera proved just that! Stay in perspective ;)

Yes dipshits, you must actually enter the structure, merely opening an unlocked door is not sufficient. #2 – There must be the INTENT to commit a crime once ENTRY is made. So lets say I open the front door to BOOGER’s double wide trailer and go inside and take a shit on his couch. TRESPASSING has occurred, not Burglary.

He invaded his personal privacy without a warrant to enter the residence. (And yes it states in the book that opening any outtermost door or window to gain access is considered entering the residence.)

@Booger6995 hows it burglary if you open a door and not enter? personally if you leave your door unlock your an idiot. i guess, it's because i live in a city and i keep my doors lock. plus, i can't blame these cops for acting the way they did, because what if the people in the house were held hostage, it would have sucked if they peeked through the window and saw nothing was wrong, and went back to dunkin donuts. there's a reason why front doors and back doors have locks!

What the fuck have the cops done? They responded to a call, they looked around, saw something out of the norm, asked to come in, they never broke down a door or invaded anyone's home. This is just another excuse for people to hate on cops because somewhere sometime in their life a cop arrested them for something they did, which was probably illegal anyway. So before idiots like you hate on cops for doing their job, keep in mind that you are most likely in the wrong to begin with. Fools.

Just because a open beer can is outside does not give a cop the right to invade ur privacy. If no one let them in, they are not legally allowed to open ur door unless they see something illegal going on( which they didn't) inside, or they have a search warrant. they can't just open ur front door because no one answered. And then lie and say the door was open. this is just another example of y cops have bad reps. think they can do what they want.
