  • do you do this before or after neck turning?

  • @danthman114 After. If the brass is too soft it can chatter and leave small bumps on the neck.

  • Is it ok to anneal dirty brass? Or do you have to clean it first?

  • @EdgarEgner You will be fine. You may get some soot on the case but other than that the process should result as the same as if you're using clean brass. Just don't get the brass too hot.

  • Good video. I bought some once-fired .300 Savage brass, and about half is bulged @ a quarter inch above the base....enough that I can't chamber and close the bolt.... anything I can do to save this brass, or is it trash ? Tks...

  • @xzqzq Use small base dies to get the case back into spec.

  • 2:43 and ammosmith said let there be fire!

  • i leave my spent primers in and pour some cold water in each casing before i anneal them. just enough to keep the bases cool.

  • you don't need to anneal new factory brass ,that is done when the cases are made in the factory.

  • @gunnz23 The Jamison brass I got for my 500 was not annealed.

  • can you form cartridge convert from a 30-06 to a 7.62X54R ?

  • No. The 30-06 is a rimless case...You might be able to convert a 30-40 Krag. 7.62x54R is so common that I think that getting boxer primed brass would be fairly cost effective.

  • Reason i ask is because i bought my mosin right before this whole gun scare thing....with obama and the plentyfullness and looks of the rifle led me to buying it... but now it is HARD to find this ammo i don't know why... the 39 is everywhere but not 54R....THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY : )

  • It's a shame that this is not the case (pun?) =).....norma and lapua make 7.62x54R, but it's amazingly expensive....it is in fact cheaper to buy winchester white box (metric) and just save your brass after firing. you would think, that with the massive amount of firearms produced for 54R that brass would be plentiful. trouble is most of the ammo produced was berdan primed and washed steel casings =(. let me know if you have different information, my 91/30 is hungry. =)

  • Thanks for film, got lots of .223 & .308 to anneal now.

  • rotate the cartridge w/ a drill while holding it up against the flame??

  • Yes. It keeps the heat from annealing the body of the case.

  • yeah, i wonder if my drill press next door is variable speed...

  • nice vids but to much blah blah

  • :-P

  • Cool! Using the washing machine or dryer as a base. Why didn't I think of that? Great video, though not a centre-fire shooter, it is worth learning such a process. Thanks for sharing.

  • All videos are great. High quality sound & vision, high instructional value, with all the little hints & tips. Just quite brilliant!!!!!!!

    Thank you.

  • Awesome thorough video. If you wind up using steel case ammo (assuming you don't use zinc plated - toxic!) you can do the same thing, but don't dunk it in the water, or it actually hardens the steel.

  • AS, your videos are freakin awesome!!! Bravo!!!

  • If your case forming anneal before you reshape the brass. If you're just softening brass then it doesn't matter.

  • Do you resize and then anneal or you anneal first and then resize?

    Thanks

  • The case on the right looks similar to lake city stuff.

  • I think you should produce a DVD and sell it. I would buy it for sure.

  • We are in negotiiations with a publisher. We will not put these videos on DVD. We will be shooting all of them again in more detail and in HD when the time comes. Go to our website from time to time for news flashes.

  • Ok cool. I just registered with the website. Looking forward to the DVD.
